4 out of 5 eggsDon't be fooled by "dont be fooled"

Pros: Low power draw (around 30-35 watts)
Decent price

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: While I don't own this particular unit, I own the individual board in a different case, so I can still comment on it. Do not be fooled by Barb's review. If there had to be one thing I hate about Newegg, it would be that there is no way to verify peoples actual Tech knowledge...everyone claims they're a 4 or 5. Cat 6 cable shows that "barb" doesn't know much. This system can more than play 1080 i/p content, I play it just fine on my 50" 1080p plasma, streaming 25GB blueray rips from my file server over CAT5E cable and a gigabit managed switch. I use XBMC (openelec) to play it. The board loads things quick, thanks to the ION and it's hardware decoding. No skips, glitches or hickups. High def Vid, High Def all works great.

Netflix lol that's like streaming "1080p" youtube content... 18Mbps? that stuff is max like 1-2Mbps...hardly high's upscaled dvd quality. Stream locally off a drive or a file server. You can't go wrong with an ION based system!

1 out of 5 eggsDon't be fooled

Pros: I purchased the model with DVD rather than bluray but all other specs are the same. Win7 64bit ready. Plays DVD's nicely.

Cons: Do not be fooled by the description of this PC. You cannot play streaming 1080i/p video on this computer. It will downgrade the video to a resolution that it can display. I am well aware of how to properly build a PC that works as this PC is advertised. Initially I believed my internet speed was too slow, so I upgraded my cable speed from 12megs to 18megs utilizing a gigabit router LAN connection and cat6 cable. My 18meg speed was verified as fully functional despite the PC's inability to stream full HD. Streaming HD was only viewable if the full screen picture was reduced to a small window about one third the size of the screen, which results in a lower resolution since all 1080 rows of pixels are not being used. To use netflix I had to disable streaming HD. Nearly all streaming video websites such as Hulu and CBS were unwatchable unless scaled to a smaller window. DVD's played fine.

Other Thoughts: I explained the improper product description to Newegg who refused a refund. The replacement only policy was clear in the product description but I never received a PC that could play streaming HD as advertized. If I receive an item that cannot be used for it's intended purpose, then I would say that I never received the item that I ordered. Instead, I got a different item that has no capability of streaming HD. If the item I purchased cannot be shipped to me then my money should be returned to me. Newegg expected me to keep and pay for an item that is not what I actually ordered. I explained that I don't want a replacement item that will function just as the original. I want to receive a PC that plays HD. After a screaming match when I lost my temper, I was finally offered a credit rather than a refund. I used the credit to build my own HTPC. The PC I built steams anything I want as fast as I want just as I intended for it to function. I like my Netflix 1080i/p streaming movies.
