3 out of 5 eggsok but meh??!!

Pros: Great looking design.
Small form factor
Hard to find a pre-built system with everything this has for under $700
low power usage and pretty good overall performance.
silent operations though the BR drive does make high pitch sounds sometimes....?

Cons: First one died after 3 days of use. had just finished installing windows and all the updates, moved it to its final location and nothing. took 2 weeks between mailing to get new one back from newegg. I wish I had just built my own HTPC.
Currently on the second one and so far so good. Its going on a week now and still working. I did some Lego Star Wars gaming on it as a stress test and ran avatar BR movie.
I think I have noticed my blue tooth devices specifically mouse does not seem to like this thing. It has a large lag half the time between when I move it and when the courser moves. I dont have this problem on my 2 other PC's. This makes it feel under powered even if its my 2nd most powerful computer.

Other Thoughts: Ok listen up save your money. If I were to do it again I would build my self an APU unit. get a case you like get the A10, 8GB ram, SSD, and a BR drive and it costs around the same price for more performance. Thats what I with I had done. True it uses more power and wont be as small but it should be more reliable. When this thing works it good but Quality control dropped the ball with this device.
At my time of purchase I had just bought an HDTV and wanted a fast easy solution for an HTPC. Do it properly and build your own.
go APU if you want gaming capability otherwise intels work great. the HD4000 works find of old games and semi new titles. I read many review while I was waiting for the replacement.... '-_-
Good luck hope this helps you.

5 out of 5 eggsEXCELLENT and tough

Pros: Small, and tough, did I mention small?

Cons: In my application, none

Other Thoughts: I installed a SSD drive and W7. It actually lives outside on the porch where it runs 24/7 through temps from 15 degrees to over 110. It receives a wireless signal from my weather station and updates to the web every couple minutes.
It also serves to use the web (on it now) and to play my thousands of audio files, I am an audio nut.
It generates almost no heat, so the fan seldom runs. It is completely silent in this configuration. I run the audio out USB to a high end DAC.

I could not be more happy. It has been going strong for over a year now.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Looks well-put together, good specs.

Cons: Plugged it in, hit the power button, smelled smoke. DOA.

Other Thoughts: RMAing to Newegg now, will try again.

1 out of 5 eggsFind a different HTPC

Pros: Specs look good on paper. NewEgg sent a replacement unit quickly.

Cons: So far I am 0/2. I received the 1st unit, but when I plugged it in, it smoked and popped - DOA. The 2nd one booted up to Bios Ok, but the BluRay drive was having I/O issues. When I moved the unit to its final location - bzzzz pop! Unit #2 was dead.

I will not buy an AsRock Motherboard or Barebones system again.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not give ASROCK your money!!

Pros: When it works, its nice.

Cons: Like everyone else reviewing this product, I have the Power Supply - Motherboard - Detonation issue. My first unit was working fine, until I moved it to my living room and plugged it back in. When I plugged it in, I heard the pop, and knew it was over. The second unit arrived a few weeks later. I plugged it in by the tv, and thought the problem was solved. 5 months later I go to move it again, and I hear the pop again while plugging it in. This time I want a refund.

After going back and forth between asrock and newegg, I slowly realize that a refund is not an option. I suppose I will have to get a replacement computer from asrock, every time the power plug is removed. To make it worse, I have to pay shipping even though asrock knows they have a defective component in this PC.

I will never purchase anything from asrock again. I'm not a huge fan of newegg right now either.

Look for cut and paste manufacture remark below....

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC Now that its working!

Pros: This is a great HTPC solution now that I have one that is not DOA (read my previous reviews). Has been running smooth for several months now with Windows 7 Media Center and a Ceton InfiniTV 4 USB tuner.
Best part is that I never have to think about it. It just runs and does its job quietly!
It is also very visually appealing in the living room, small and sleek. I could not be happier!

Cons: Took two DOA units before I got a good one.

4 out of 5 eggsThankfully, no issues here.

Pros: Quiet, powerful, stylish.

Cons: A bit pricey. Secondary HDD installation could be a little simpler. Remote control has no back light.

Other Thoughts: It was with crossed fingers and held breath that I unboxed my 321B and powered it up. I am very glad to report that I have had no issues with it so far. In fact, I am very happy with it. I bought it to be an HTPC running XBMC and to handle emulators. It does all of this as smooth as butter and it fits into my living aesthetics quite nicely and is quiet as a mouse.

So far so good, I'm loving this little machine.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid - should have known better

Pros: Specs look great on paper

Cons: Huge problem with quality control on these - I've had to return two because the power supply blows out the moment you turn it on - even hooked up to an expensive power strip that's never caused any other problems for plenty of other computer equipment.
Inexcusable. Save your money.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC solution

Pros: Compact, quiet, HDMI output, Toslink Optical, BluRay. Built-in IR and remote control is a HUGE bonus, trust me.

Cons: Should really offer a version with an SSD. These kind of machines are so perfect for HTPC clients that don't need storage, just speed. The 'starter' drives that come with them are always so slow.

Front LED is a bit too bright. When using as an HTPC, front LEDs tend to be distracting in the dark. Minor quibble, yeah, but I can't come up with much else.

Other Thoughts: I swapped the dumpy starter HD and put in an OWC Electra SSD instead, then installed Win7. I stripped down the installation, and installed XBMC. I used the XBMC loader which turns it into the default Windows shell. The machine boots straight to XBMC in the blink of an eye. XBMC playback is flawless, even on massive BluRay rips, using DXVA2. CPU utilization is very low.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear AsRock Customer

Thank you for your purchase and review. If system is on standby/sleep mode the front power LED light will be blinking. To disable it, please enter BIOS, Advanced, South Bridge Configuration, Good Night LED [Enable]. If you have any technical questions please contact us at http://www.asrock.com/support/tsd.asp. We can assist you shortly.

1 out of 5 eggs2nd Unit DOA

Pros: None So Far

Cons: This is the second unit I plug in and it dies immediately. I plugged this one in and it made a pop sound and started to smell like burnt electronics.

Other Thoughts: I really want to like these, if I can just get one that will work. I am trying one more before I give up on ASRock forever.
