5 out of 5 eggsMicrosoft June CPU Microcode kb3064209

Pros: - its a neat little projector good for travel, good for the kids
- At the current price you are getting a $50 discount on the i3-4010u

Cons: June CPU Microcode update from Microsoft

Other Thoughts: The June CPU Microcode update from Microsoft kb3064209 will crash your windows installation.

I installed windows about 3 times. This is the very last update to run and it is an optional update. Very hard to debug because the system runs fine the entire time installing and running updates.

I was very much ready to just send this thing back to newegg as defective or RMA, Hope this review helps someone. I had to search high and dry and when I found another user with the same situation I knew it was not just me and not just the unit I was shipped.

5 out of 5 eggsI love it

Pros: Awesome. I used this in our bedroom to connect to my slingbox down stairs. Helps us get by with just one cable box. I typically use it connected hdmi to my tv. very quiet and fast for what i use it for. Likewise since it is so small plus it has wifi we take this when we travel. Wireless keyboard + HMDI we have netflix youtube slingbox and a windows pc. If the place we are staying at has an older tv, we turn on projector.

Cons: Would of like little better res with the DLP, though i don't use it much. Desktop can be challenging, though full screen netflix or you tube is good. I am sure better DLP would have increase the price. Though not really a con.

Other Thoughts: If you are the traveling type, Dorm room, or just want a palm size computer... this is a good one. for the price, the dlp projector is a freebie. Likewise, i have found you cannot tighten the screws too much after installing ram and hd. the power bottom gets a little crazy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC

Pros: - It can fit in the palm of your hand.
- Price
- It came as a bundle with mSATA and RAM (newegg promotion)
- Plenty of 3.0 USB slots
- HDMI In / Out (Out for use with the projector)
- VERY quiet

Cons: - No real cons unless you want to complain about the projector resolution but this is supposed to be (at least in my experience) used as a HTPC or similar. The projector is just a nice add-on.

Other Thoughts: - RAM needs to be 1.35V
- This works great for a HTPC
- Make sure to get a mSATA and RAM because this is a barebone and maybe a USB disc drive.

5 out of 5 eggsvery, very decent

Pros: pretty cool little thingy - I use it for HTPC in my bedroom with KODI/XBMC and cheapo MCE remote control you can get for few bucks on some known auction site with bay word in it.
I tried projector for fun to watch some movies on my bedroom's ceiling (with my own tripod) - definitely not bad at all, however I still prefer to use it on TV :)
I also use it occasionally to connect to my work via VPN+Remote Desktop - works fine. In terms of overall performance of OS - its pretty decent. So far, I am really glad that I've got this which also included promo for 64Gb SSD/4Gb Ram - it was a great price.

Cons: Not really a con, but you cannot project Windows 8+ Metro via projector - even with some tweaks in registry to fake higher resolution - I can't make that work - so really it is a Windows limitation. Just use regular desktop env, not Metro (which I don't really care that much for)

5 out of 5 eggsAwsomest lil thing

Pros: Awsome price! Got the whole thing with free ram and SSD for 279. Thing works great. Is being used for a HTPC, so runs all the time. No problem playing any content on it so far, no lag or stuttering. If i was literally forced to think of a negative the wireless adapter isn't the best but whatever. Also the project for what it is, is pretty darn good. Can't wait for the summer and bbq outside late and night and project stuff on the side of the house. Has a built in speaker too.

Not sure what these other people were talking about boot or USB issues for. I have none and always have stuff plugged into my USB. User error i'm assuming

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsGood stuff if you have some extra money

Pros: versatile little box: small, compact, a DLP projector. You can find nothing like this on the market

Cons: 1. kind of loud when the projector is on.
2. you need to remove all USB devices before booting.
3. Projector is too dim for daytime.

Other Thoughts: I want to see the 2nd gen with 300lm 1080P/1024X768 projector and i5.

1 out of 5 eggsItem does not work.

Pros: -Very small
-Built-in projector is a nice touch

Cons: -Can not boot from a device, or access BIOS without first removing mSATA SSD and any USB drives.

Other Thoughts: I have tried removing backup battery and resetting BIOS, neither helped.
Too bad I can't return even though I only received it 4 days ago.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent PC - Projector doesn't run Windows Metro Apps

Pros: Small form factor, fairly powerful for video and browsing, and office work. Great student PC. Very usable in a dimly lit room. Comes with HDMI to mini-HDMI adapter although both ends are male. tripod comes in handy in a pinch. Projector can be used standalone without booting OS/PC. Projector much better than expected for video/photos.

Cons: Projector does not run Windows 8.1 Metro Apps - Resolution too low below 768pixels vertical.
Fan with projector on a little loud. Requires 1.35V Memory, uses mSATA drives instead of regular 2.5" laptop SSD. Quick Setup Guide only no users manual for BIOS.

Other Thoughts: It runs great as a PC, and the projector is fun to use for the occasional movie playback and photos as most players are able to downscale movies well to the low resolution of the projector. For Powerpoint presentation, and spreadsheets, the low resolution of the Projector 864x480 makes it unusable. Connecting it to a 1080P screen or PC monitor with higher resolution than 1024x768 works great. Kill-A-Watt meter show idle at around only 10W and loaded with projector only about 45W use, so it uses very little power. Great as an HTPC. A little pricey for the resolution of the projector. Overall, a good little PC, with the projector being just a novelty. So a bit overpriced for what it is paying a premium for a projector add-on that can't run most of Windows 8.1 apps is a big product miss. At least provide drivers to allow PC to downscale.

4 out of 5 eggsCurious and impressed

Pros: The Gigabyte BRIX Projector is a pretty unique device. A computer and projector all in one. The box comes with the unit, a mini-Tripod, Power adaptor, and Mini-HDMI to HDMI cable. Once you add an Operating System, Memory and a Hard Drive you have yourself a computer with an I3 Processor and built in WI-FI.

I tested this unit with a Windows 8.1 install. The install took less than 15 mins and the updates took less than 25 mins. The machine is quick and responsive. Boot-up to login screen almost beats the projector screen coming on and is between 10-12 seconds.

The Projector itself can be used independently if desired, and the computer can be plugged into an device via HDMI and run an external monitor as well.

Cons: Not quite as bright as I had hoped. This is a good screen for 5-10' away depending on how bright your room is.
The screen resolution (854x480) could be better though I knew what it was when I purchased this unit.

Other Thoughts: I tested this with some video and WebEx functions with no issues. Due to the resolution there are some bugs if you work with screens that won't crunch down enough. (ie changing computer properties when you need to get to the apply button). I resolved this by remote desktop into the computer and/or hooking up an external monitor during the setup portion of the operating system.

As always if I run into issues or items that should be posted here I will update my review.
