Excellet System
- Pros: Not state of the art but an excellent system for the money. No problems so far.
- Cons: N/A
Wonderful Short Money Build!
- Pros: 1st off...As many posters have mentioned, this is an outstanding value for $82.00 plus Shipping! Decent build quality. All the wires are clean & tied-off. Pretty good packaging, no dents or dings. 92mm rear fan is quiet (even though it's a chaepo sleeve fan) Super easy to work on. Installed everything within an hour. Vista 64-Bit Home started-up right away without any hangs. Although the case metal is fairly thin, not really not that bad. The paint job is fine as well. It's a tad noisy, but not that bad.
Add another 92mm fan in the front. I only use whipser quiet Vantec Stealth fans myself. This could be a really nice mid-upper gaming rig with a new PSU & a decent CPU.
I bought this BB because of price & more importantly the positive reviews for most of you! You really can't go wrong with this set up. Ok...The OB sound & video aren't going to break any records, but you can upgrade down the road. 5 Stars for the MSI Barbones!
- Cons: I don't even want to post anything in the "Cons" section for this unit because of it's price & ease of pain factor. I'll save a few for "Other Thoughts"
If you can spend an extra $68.00 the Asus V3-M3A3200 is a really nice, nice BB system. But....If budget is on your list, this MSI won't disappoint!
- Other Thoughts: I built this rig for my buddy that's out of work & his computer died on him. I paid for this out of my pocket, hence the MSI Barebones price caught my eye. The whole set up cost me $300.00 w/ shipping.
AMD Ahtlon 64 LE-1640 Orelans CPU @ 2.6 GHz WD Caviar 250GB (16MB Cache) A-DATA 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2-800 Windows Vista Home Basic 64-Bit OEM
I ran the unit for 3 days straight with the usual torture tests. No issues. I did decide to yank out the Austin 285 Watt PSU (aka Allied PSU) & replace it with a Corsair 400 watt PSU. If you're just surfing the web & playing low-end games, then the supplied Allied PSU will be fine.
Some very small gripes. I would like to have an extra systen fan on the MB. The PCI backets on the back aren't user-friendly. Getting the front panel off is a tad tricky & you'll feel like you're going to break one of the plastic stand-offs if are not careful. You can buy a e-machines junk box for $300.00 & it won't even come close to this rig!
Perfect
- Pros: For the money this setup is unbeatable. Everything worked out of the box. Cables were tied up nicely and the front panel indicators/buttons already plugged in. No dings or dents. Decent documentation.
- Cons: Bag of documentation, screws, etc was inside the case. It could have damaged some caps or pins on the MB during shipping but mine was perfect.
- Other Thoughts: Worth every penny of $81. I'm going to buy more.
