THE DECISIVE WEAPON IN THE DARK

Sturdy, stable and solid, the MSI Nightblade is loaded with the perfect ammunition for PC gamers that do not want to compromise on gaming performance. Housing a highly appraised MSI GAMING motherboard and equipped with unrelenting tools of efficiency, power, cooling and low-noise, the MSI Nightblade embodies what every gamer craves for: victory.

OC GENIE

The MSI Nightblade can be overclocked without using complicated software or having to open the entire gaming rig. With just a simple push of the OC Genie button on the front, the Nightblade's interior hardware is automatically overclocked in a matter of seconds. Easily recognized by the emitting red light from the chassis, the hardware inside the MSI Nightblade is amped up in speed and performance, making games or other complicated computing tasks run even slicker than in normal mode.

SHOW OFF WITH A SMALL SIZE

Size doesn't matter when it comes to the MSI Nightblade. Despite its mini-ITX form factor, this gaming barebone delivers powerful performance due to the fact that the interior components are well designed and laid out in the case.

Thanks to its compact size, brushed aluminum finish on the front and awesomely presented Dragon on the side of the case, gamers won't have to hide their PC beneath their desk anymore.

COOLING WITH A DRAGON FAN

We know all gamers want to be emerged in the game through its sound track and audio effects. To make you hear the crispest sounds, MSI made the Nightblade as quiet as possible by optimizing the airflow and keeping the system running cool. With no less than three air vents (front, side and top), hot air is easily exhausted out of the Nightblade's chassis. Cool air enters the PC through the front and bottom vents. In contrast with standard 400-1200RPM case fans, the seven giant blades of the MSI Dragon Fan can produce an air pressure of 4000RPMs. So even when using the most extreme graphics cards to its max, the Nightblade keeps your head cool and lets you focus on your game.

PLUG AND PLAY

With the MSI Nightblade, you are set to go gaming! Two USB3.0, two USB2.0 ports and two audio jacks on the front panel give you plenty of options to plug in your Gaming Keyboard, Mouse and Headset.

SOLID AS ROCK

With more than 25 years of experience in manufacturing high quality and stable PC components, MSI carefully selected the best materials for the Nightblade's Gaming chassis. To ensure stability and offer rigidness to gamers that care about their rig, the case is made out of 0.8mm thick steel and coated with zinc to prevent rust and wear.

Unlike aluminum, steel doesn't crack when bumped into or handled without care. The Nightblade is truly built to outlive a lifetime of carrying this gaming champion from one LAN-party to the other.

FEATURING MSI GAMING MOTHERBOARDS

With MSI's Gaming spirit flowing through its veins, all MSI GAMING motherboards inside the Nightblade are born for gaming performance. With MSI, a smaller size doesn't mean you get less features! For instance, besides their stunning looks, all MSI GAMING motherboards feature Killer LAN, Audio Boost and Gaming Device Port, regardless of their form factor. Additionally the new ITX-GAMING motherboards feature USB Audio Power to give you the crispest audio solution.

KILLER NETWORKING

Featuring Advanced Stream Detect™, Killer E2200 automatically detects and accelerates game traffic ahead of other network traffic for smoother, stutter-free in-game performance and the competitive edge.

AUDIO BOOST

With Audio Boost we're delivering the highest audio quality so you can enjoy crystal clear sound and music in games. The built-in headphone amplifier allows you to use studio-grade headgear and get the most amazing sound quality out of your gaming PC.

MILITARY CLASS COMPONENTS

Military Class is the next step in high quality components. The Hi-c Cap, Super Ferrite Choke and Solid CAPs will make sure that your PC runs more stable under extreme conditions.

FITS FULL-SIZE GRAPHICS CARDS

Talking about a textbook example of optimizing space, the MSI Nightblade is fit large size Graphics Cards up to 290mm length and 35mm thickness. This means you can, for instance, fit an MSI GTX780 GAMING graphics card or an MSI R9 290X* GAMING graphics card to blast away your gaming opponents. Both NVIDIA fans and AMD graphics enthusiasts can pick their personal favorite and easily upgrade to future generations when desired.

*MSI recommends an additional 120mm chassis side fan when R9 290X/290/280X graphics card is installed

CARRY TO A LAN PARTY

A useful handle situated at the bottom-front of the Nightblade's mini-ITX case can be used to pick up and carry this lightweight gaming beast around from one LAN party to the next. And the level of mobility doesn't stop there. With help from the rubber covers fitting the metal screws on the backside of the Nightblade, this system can even be stacked up vertically after carrying it around. That way, the panel and connectors on the back remain unharmed each time when arriving at a new gamer's den.

EASY TO ASSEMBLE

With the MSI GAMING motherboard smartly placed inside the MSI Nightblade and a PSU powerful enough to supply each component with sufficient power, the expansion options of the MSI Nightblade are countless. Whether you want to install an ATX-sized graphics card or assemble two SSDs, you can easily do it by opening the left side panel of the case. Add or remove your optical drive, upgrade your memory or CPU, it's all possible.

CABLE MANAGEMENT AND COLORING

  1. Nicely tucked, strapped and cabled
  2. Black primary cables for clean look and feel
  3. Plenty of space for airflow
  4. Extra room for modders to go wild

READY FOR MASSIVE STORAGE, INCLUDING SUPER RAID

With a massive amount of Digital game downloads, the average gamer needs a lot of space for storage in a gaming rig. The Nightblade provides just that, with enough space for HDD storage and Super RAID, the ultimate combo of every connected mass storage device.

With MSI Super RAID, you can combine hard drives, SSDs and mSATA devices into blazing fast bootable drives, loading your games, operating system and videos faster than ever.

3 out of 5 eggsNot as good as it should be

Pros: looks great and awesome ventilation

Cons: i AM GOING ON MY 3RD BAREBONE ON WARRANTY. The first one wouldn't boot up. I tried different cpus, memorie, and hard drives but still wouldn't boot up. The second one booted up as soon as I installed all the hardware and Windows 8.1 pro. Once I started to get the drivers installed the computer would not boot up anymore. I reseted the CMOS changed the hard drive cpu and memory in that order but it wouldn't boot up again.

Other Thoughts: The CPUs I tried are i3 4150 haswell dual core and i7 4770 haswell quad core. The memory were 2 8GB Team Dark Series 240-Pin ddr 3 and I used 2 different 128gb kingston SSD HDs.

I tested everything on a ASUS Sabertooth X79. They all work fine on the asus MB but the nightblade stops booting up after a few hours

5 out of 5 eggsGreat First Case

Pros: I had no trouble with quality control on this case. As this is my first computer I have built for myself personally I did not find it hard to install anything. The only thing I made sure to do was follow the order of installation in the manual. That way I didn't have to fidget with re-wiring after something blocked something else. Build quality seems solid from my experience. Ran FurMark for 30 min and my Maxwell GPU is doing great (less than 70C). Of course a AMD or older chipset NVIDIA cards will likely be far hotter. All the ports on the front of the case are USB 3.0, which is great! In such a small case I was able to put in a full sized HDD which was also nice. I brought this case to a LAN party and it didn't seem to get scratched anywhere. I did make sure to try not ding it anywhere though.

Cons: I know some people have been getting cases with bent and flexed motherboards and faulty RAM slots. Hopefully you get lucky and get a non-faulty mobo with nothing missing.

This case is much heavier than it looks. Still not bad though.

Other Thoughts: I will give this five eggs since my Nightblade came fine and everything works without any damage. I understand if others have issues with the case. Hopefully MSI has worked the issues out.

I do not know if having a Granite surface has anything to do with the temperatures I am getting, but the Nightblade is sitting on a wide open Granite Bar.

1 out of 5 eggsIncredible

Pros: Looks good
Good airflow for size

Cons: Pretty much everything else

Other Thoughts: This is the fourth Nightblade case I receive from newegg, the first one had a loose GPU slot, the second one had a bent motherboard pin, the third one had a busted power button (it stayed stuck in) and this fourth one finally seems to be ok. (side panels are very hard to close unlike the previous three but I am not going to return it for that)

Here is the real issue though, all 4 cases had the same issue, they didn't recognize my two sticks of ram, only one, and only when it was in the right slot. I tried buying new ram, changing CPU, using compressed air and as I said before, used 4 different nightblades to try.

After long hours with tech support that quite honestly didn't know that much, I eventually figured out the issue, the whole nightblade line is pretty much busted in this issue. When using a backplate to install the cooler I was using, if you tighten up the top right screw a bit too much (not that much but at its limit) THE RAM STOPS WORKING.. yes you heard it right, this happened in all 4 cases. Only the left slot stops working, it seems the tightening of the screw somehow moves the slot or something, you can't see it, in fact I found this by doing some serious trouble shooting, I even went "tighten screw, turn on, off", "tighten some more, on and off" etc. Until I noticed that at certain point the ram just stopped working.

In other words, this case is busted, the whole line is busted (or at least the newegg batch) I went through 4 RMA's... 4! And all four have had some sort of issue apart from the main issue which is the ram problem.

I am so disappointed on MSI, I can't believe they would let a product like this out to the public before testing.

BTW, the cooler I am using is officially supported, at least the MSI guys at "headquarters" said they tested it and it fit ok, so I am surprised one tech guy like me managed to find an issue on their whole line when the people who sell the thing didn't.

Anyway, seriously, don't buy this please, they deserve to fail with this attempt. Any company that sells a product that you need to RMA 4 times is not a company you want to buy from.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works. Well, even.

Pros: This feels like a solid base to build up from. Contrary to prior reviews, this worked well for me. It can utilize desktop-sized graphics cards, and handles the 8GB(whopping right? haha) of RAM I stuck in it, along with the Haswell i7 and the 480GB SSD. I plugged it in, and it all just worked as expected. Obviously this doesn't have a built in ODD(CD/DVD drive) yet the software it comes with is all on CD. Weird to me but whatever.

Cons: I suppose its a bit heavy. Deceptively heavy, even, for its small frame... though it is supposed to be military grade. Honestly, it kinda feels like its made of really thin cast iron, but at least that means its durable.

1 out of 5 eggsGood case, bad build quality

Pros: Great looking case, great airflow considering the size, fits a big card

Cons: questionable build quality, questionable knowledge by msi support

Other Thoughts: This case is really nice, to the point that even with the issues that I've had I still decided to RMA for a replacement instead of a refund (I am waiting on it as we speak)

Lets just start by the first things I noticed. The paint scratches easily, basically any screw that touches it (lets say you connect a fan to the vents) will make it silver colored again, so you might have to retouch it yourself.

Second, after booting fine into bios and me checking things out, I decided to install my liquid cooling solution. I removed the ram to make some space to install the cpu bracket and when I put the ram back on, the computer didn't want to boot anymore. The left ram slot was completely dead. I've been building pc's for a while so the normal thing to do here is hit it with some compressed air. I cleaned it as much as I could, looked for visible damage and there was none, the machine simply decided that left slot wasn't going to work anymore. I tried booting with both my ram stick on the left slot and it didn't work, while both sticks worked fine on the right slot.

Then the big one. I tried to mount my titan black on the gpu slot and I noticed it was kind of loose, as if the card wasn't attaching itself correctly, so I decided to take the card back out instead of locking it in because it just didn't feel or sound right and to my surprise, the whole gpu slot came out with the card leaving just the pins in the motherboard visible. When this happened I unassembled everything immediately, put back everything into the box, printed out an RMA and took it to UPS. I have faith that I was just unlucky so I decided to go for replacement instead of refund.

This is my first time ordering from newegg and my first MSI product of any kind. It has been a very taxing experience. I really hope they come through in the RMA.

To top everything off, when I called MSI about some other issues I had, like the OC genie button not working. They had no idea how to fix it.

2 out of 5 eggsBad build quality

Pros: Great looking case, very well designed with airflow as priority

Cons: Cheap paint job, bad build quality and support

Other Thoughts: 1 week since I bought this and I opened the case up again to install a liquid cooling setup. I removed the ram to have a bit more space and when I put the ram back on it never booed again. The left ram slot stopped working with no viable damage. Even using compressed air to clean it didn't help. To top that off, the slot of the gpu came off pretty much at the lightest touch. In my many years of pc building I had never seen a pci slot simply come off. I sent it back for a replacement instead of a refund because I indeed love the case and I'm hoping I was just unlucky as I really want this to be my computer for the next 3 years. Seriously though, military grade motherboard components? With the gpu slot coming off? Ram slot not working? I think not.
