The Decisive Weapon in the Dark

Sturdy, stable and solid, the MSI Nightblade is loaded with the perfect ammunition for PC gamers that do not want to compromise on gaming performance. Housing a highly appraised MSI GAMING motherboard and equipped with unrelenting tools of efficiency, power, cooling and low-noise, the MSI Nightblade embodies what every gamer craves for: Victory.

OC Genie

The MSI Nightblade can be overclocked without using complicated software or having to open the entire gaming rig. With just a simple push of the OC Genie button on the front, the Nightblade's interior hardware is automatically overclocked in a matter of seconds.

Easily recognized by the emitting red light from the chassis, the hardware inside the MSI Nightblade is amped up in speed and performance, making games or other complicated computing tasks run even slicker than in normal mode.

Show Off with a Small Size

Size doesn't matter when it comes to the MSI Nightblade. Despite its mini-ITX form factor, this barebones gaming system delivers powerful performance due to the fact that the interior components are well designed and laid out in the case.

Thanks to its compact size, brushed aluminum finish on the front and awesomely presented Dragon on the side of the case, gamers won't have to hide their PC beneath their desk anymore.

Cooling with a Dragon Fan

We know all gamers want to be emerged in the game through its sound track and audio effects. To make you hear the crispest sounds, MSI made the Nightblade as quiet as possible by optimizing the airflow and keeping the system running cool. With no less than three air vents (front, side and top), hot air is easily exhausted out of the Nightblade's chassis. Cool air enters the PC through the front and bottom vents. In contrast with standard 400-1200RPM case fans, the seven giant blades of the MSI Dragon Fan can produce an air pressure of max. 3600RPM. So even when using the most extreme graphics cards to its max, the Nightblade keeps your head cool and lets you focus on your game.

Plug and Play

With the MSI Nightblade, you are set to go gaming! Two USB3.0, two USB2.0 ports and two audio jacks on the front panel give you plenty of options to plug in your Gaming Keyboard, Mouse and Headset.

Hard as Steel

With more than 25 years of experience in manufacturing high quality and stable PC components, MSI carefully selected the best materials for the Nightblade's Gaming chassis. To ensure stability and offer rigidness to gamers that care about their rig, the case is made out of 0.8mm-thick steel and coated with zinc to prevent rust and wear.

Unlike aluminum, steel doesn't crack when bumped into or handled without care. The Nightblade is truly built to outlive a lifetime of carrying this gaming champion from one LAN-party to the other.

Featuring MSI Gaming motherboards

With MSI's Gaming spirit flowing through its veins, all MSI Gaming motherboards inside the Nightblade are born for gaming performance. With MSI, a smaller size doesn't mean you get less features! For instance, besides their stunning looks, all MSI Gaming motherboards feature Killer LAN, Audio Boost and Gaming Device Port, regardless of their form factor. Additionally the new ITX-Gaming motherboards feature USB Audio Power to give you the crispest audio solution.

Killer Networking

Featuring Advanced Stream Detect™, Killer E2200 automatically detects and accelerates game traffic ahead of other network traffic for smoother, stutter-free in-game performance and the competitive edge.

Audio Boost

With Audio Boost we're delivering the highest audio quality so you can enjoy crystal clear sound and music in games. The built-in headphone amplifier allows you to use studio-grade headgear and get the most amazing sound quality out of your gaming PC.

Military Class Components

Military Class is the next step in high quality components. The Hi-c Cap, Super Ferrite Choke and Solid CAPs will make sure that your PC runs more stable under extreme conditions.

Fits Full-Size Graphics Cards

Talk about a textbook example of optimizing space! The MSI Nightblade is fit large size Graphics Cards up to 11.4" (290mm) length and 1.3" (35mm) thickness. This means you can for instance fit in a MSI GTX780 GAMING graphics card or a MSI R9 290X GAMING graphics card, to blast away your gaming opponents. Both NVIDIA fans and AMD graphics enthusiasts can pick their personal favorite and easily upgrade to future generations when desired.

Carry to a LAN Party

A useful handle situated at the bottom-front of the Nightblade's mini-ITX case can be used to pick up and carry this lightweight gaming beast around from one LAN-party to the next.

And the level of mobility doesn't just stop there. With help of the rubber covers fitting the metal screws on the backside of the Nightblade, this system can even be stacked up vertically after carrying it around. That way, the panel and connectors on the back remain unharmed each time when arriving at a new gamer's den.

Easy to Assemble

With the MSI GAMING motherboard smartly placed inside the MSI Nightblade and a PSU powerful enough to supply each component with sufficient power, the expansion options of the MSI Nightblade are countless.

Whether you want to install an ATX-sized graphics card or assemble two SSDs, you can easily do it by opening the left side panel of the case. Add or remove your optical drive, upgrade your memory or CPU, it's all possible.

Cable Management and Coloring

  1. Nicely tucked, strapped and cabled
  2. Primarily black cables for clean look and feel
  3. Leaves enough room for airflow
  4. Plenty of space for modders to up the ante

Ready for Massive Storage, Including Super RAID

With a massive amount of Digital game downloads, the average gamer needs a legit space for storage in a gaming rig. The Nightblade provides just that, with enough space for HDD storage and Super RAID, the ultimate combo of every connected mass storage device.

With MSI Super RAID, you can combine hard drives, SSDs and mSATA devices into blazing fast bootable drives, loading your games, operating system and videos faster than ever.

4 out of 5 eggsA solid barebone PC that comes in small package

Pros: Can play like a full tower without heating up that much even with the latest & most powerful video card running inside. Good as a media center & a LAN party PC.

Cons: What looks like an MSI Z97I Gaming motherboard included is actually a proprietary motherboard unique to the barebone. It has a different BIOS than that of the MSI Z97I Gaming motherboard. The MSI Smart Utilities & MSI Command Center won't work with this barebone.

Other Thoughts: Would have love to get this from Newegg cuz its cheaper but instead got this from a local computer store cuz I can't wait to try this barebone. The included optical drive is a DVD player & not Bluray. Have I known that a different version exist (minus the optical drive & much cheaper) I would have get this & bought a Bluray optical drive. Overall, still very satisfied with this barebone. I can carry this around on my travel without any problem. It's light & powerful.

5 out of 5 eggsVery happy with the case.

Pros: -Small
-Easy to work in
-Good packaging
-OC button actually works
-Quiet & runs cool.
-Good design (Internally and externally)

Cons: -Didn't include CPU cooler despite advertising it in description. This was a huge letdown.
-Expensive, but the rebate helps a bit
-Poor cable management. (But it's a mini-itx, so this is difficult to overcome)

Other Thoughts: This is my first barebone system and overall I'm very happy with it. It was literally plug and play and I had zero issues overclocking my RAM / CPU with the OC button. My build runs cool and it almost silent, even during heavy gaming.

The biggest disappointment with this barebone system is lack of inclusion of a CPU cooler. The description of the product literally says "High Efficient Exclusive OC CPU cooler." This barebone system is expensive and I probably wouldn't have paid full price if I had known this wasn't actually a part of the bundle.

i5 4690K
MSI Gaming 4G GTX 970
2 x 256GB Samsung 850 SSD
1 x 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD

Also, Newegg took FOREVER to ship despite me paying for expedited service + wouldn't refund the extra I paid. Pretty sad tbh.

5 out of 5 eggsBest small factor portable desktop

Pros: Small form factor, high quality components, good internal design, 600W energy efficient power supply, built-in WiFi and BT, space for a full size video card, quiet, overclocking potential.

Cons: A few and very minor. Thumb screws for the case panels would be nice. Back feet look a bit flimsy, like they could easily bend if bumped. Not enough space for a large 2-fan CPU cooler but that is expected.

Other Thoughts: If you want a high quality fast desktop system in a small portable form factor - this is it. A bit pricey but totally worth it.
Corsair H50 CPU cooler fits fine once you figure out the way to arrange the hoses. Replace Corsair fan though with something quiet, e.g. Noctua NF-F12 PWM.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Unsatisfied

Pros: NONE

Cons: I received a faulty unit, and now I have to take my time taking out the gpu, ram, ssd, hd, etc. I was so close to just returning it And not getting a replacement.

Other Thoughts: Make sure it works before you ship it. Now you waisted hours of my time

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Based on the symptom you reported, we suggest you checking following steps below since many reasons can cause the situation like this ,
1. Check and make sure that power are connected correctly and firmly (JPWR1 and JPRW2).
2. Check your other major hardware’s (memory, video card, CPU and setting in BIOS) to ensure that they are not the cause of the issue.
3. If you need further assistant, please feel free to contact our technical support department directly at 626.271.1004 from M to F, 6am to 6pm Pacific standard Time.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Guys its a nice setup. Comes with DVD burner, 600 Wat psu, Mini z97 mboard and the case is nice. Ok H80i will fit in there but you can only run 1 fan not both and you half to stragically plan how to fit it on the slide plate. Mine is running fine 28-47C with no load. Heh.. Soon as I install BF4 and run it wide open ill let you know. Also you will half to use the only USB connect on the board. Mine somehow was the OC button. *shrug* don't know how I pulled that 1 off but the front panel is 1 huge splitter junction to most of the case so...............YEA!!! Corsair Link activated =).

Cons: LOL I had a R9 290X lightning. Its in there but cant put the bottom sleeve back on it due to the card is 3 slots wide. Yea just barely too fat of a card. Length wise though it fits like a glove with a little bit play room. Will look into a 780 or a 980 to slap in there. Also the install CD that comes with it is not very good (garbage) If you can find a Gaming 3,5,7 CD from a friend etc. Use it . Seems the CD that came with my bare bone is . Well the suck. Installed the drivers and all and was having install errors. Had a Gaming 5 install cd laying around and wala. All problems solved. Clean install on everything.

Other Thoughts: All and all the Nightblade is worth every penny at $400. There is a MIB for 50 bucks going on also. GRAB it now. The bugger is very compact and is smaller than most mini itx's I have seen in the past. I am very amazed at MSI products now and coming up soon. They are making leaps and jumps in the Hardware race now. Props to MSI.

5 out of 5 eggsThe best gamer-friendly mITX case

Pros: -Comes with a high-quality PSU that will always handle anything you can cram into this case.
-All provided cables are the exact length needed; a fan-splitter cable is provided since mITX boards only have one case fan connection.
-Case is extremely sturdy (but heavy),
-Back of the motherboard easily accessible to install backplates
-There's room for one 2.5" and one 3.5" drives, There's also a custom enclosure allowing to stuff two mSata drives (that can work in Raid0) in one of the 2.5" bays. Awesome!

Cons: -Zinc coating makes it VERY prone to visible scratches. Be careful with nails and sharp things around this case!
-Can get noisy at full load. An aftermarket CPU cooler will help a lot.

Other Thoughts: -This is the north american SKU, this one comes with the DVD drive but NOT the CPU cooler.
-A Corsair H60 will fit in this case if you install it on the side with the tubes of the rad facing.
-If you want to keep the box in good condition for whatever reason, you'll have to ask Newegg to put it another box.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Design

Pros: Small Size big power
Fits Full size GPU
Very Quiet
Easy to overclock
Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth
Built-in carry handle
Great fit and finish

Cons: Nothing that I thought was serious enough to knock a point off the overall rating.

It's really minor but one of the holes for the thumbscrews is not tapped straight so one of them sits slightly crooked.
Could use an extra fan header
Discs get stuck in the optical drive sometimes and I have to tip the case over on it's side to get them to eject.

Other Thoughts: Overall I love this system, its small, powerful and quiet.

My Build:
CPU - Intel Core i7-4790K
RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 16GB
Hard Drive - Crucial MX100 CT512MX100SSD1
Video Card - MSI GTX 980 GAMING 4G

I'm looking into a closed loop liquid cooling solution for the CPU as the intel stock cooler doesn't handle boinc work units well and that makes to case fan kick up and get noisy.

5 out of 5 eggsUltimate Nightblade

Pros: This case has a well thought out construction and is carefully organized to allow for maximum potential in terms of performance.
I am running Core i7 4790 with an MSI 980 gaming edition.

I have to say the card fits well with plenty of space for cooling.
I am using an asetek 92mm liquid cooling solution. The hoses were a little long but if you spiral the orientation there is no issues managing space.

Cons: Like in earlier reviews there are few Fan headers. I split the CPU header for my liquid cooling and side case 92mm fan solution. it works well. Temps are well within normal measurement.

Other Thoughts: This case has all the utility you need and the portability should you need it. The MSI GTX 980 fits well in this case. The new TWIN FROZR cooling is slightly smaller than the 780ti i believe. I had some issues with crashes when installing WIN-7 but I guess that's what I get while I hold out for 10. Cheers!
