5 out of 5 eggsMy second unit

Pros: Quiet, small, mounts to back of TV, play HD, plenty of inputs/outputs

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these about a year ago for our home HTPC setup. Just bought another and couldn't be happier. This unit actually had a working install CD and after installing Windows 7 32-bit I installed the drivers and everything works great. When ever I have another $331 to throw around I will likely purchase a third.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat as a dedicated SpinRite box or all-purpose PC

Pros: * Quiet
* Inexpensive and small
* More ports, RAM, and features than competitors
* 160 GB internal drive
* 2 video ports: VGA & HDMI
* eSata port
* 5 USB ports
* WiFi and LAN
* Memory card reader
* No operating system, so nothing you have to uninstall

So many other tiny computers are short on ports, have no RAM and no hard drive, but cost the same or more. This one has it all.

Cons: The Quick Start guide is printed in black text on a dark gray background, making it hard to read. Big deal.

Other Thoughts: The Zotac MAGHD-ND01-U includes virtually everything any self-respecting PC should have. Yet it is very inexpensive and quiet.

I needed an inexpensive, quiet system to run SpinRite for regular hard drive maintenance and occasional hard drive recovery tasks. If you don't know SpinRite, it is the utility that many computer repair shops and knowledgeable techies use to bring hard drives back from the dead. But it can also spare you or your clients tremendous headaches and costs by preventing hard disk problems BEFORE they happen. But it can tie up a computer for hours or days processing a larger hard drive, so I needed a dedicated PC to quietly do the job.

The Zotac MAGHD boots SpinRite from an external USB CD/DVD drive (press the Del key during startup and set it as the first boot device). Then it can process any external USB or eSATA drive. Using an inexpensive drive dock / toaster makes it easy.

5 out of 5 eggsMakes a great workstation and HTPC

Pros: I have purchased about 20 of these HD-ND01's over the last 6 months. I have been installing them for my clients (auto dealers) and they work great in that environment. I load Win7 Pro on them and I have had no issues. I have also turned a few other people onto them and they love them. I mount them all on the back of monitors with the included LCD mount which makes it easy for cable management and swaps. I have also set one up for my HT setup and having the HDMI and optical audio is great.

Cons: None, really.

Other Thoughts: I could not be happier!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome lil' HTPC

Pros: I've got this thing running Win7 and XBMC and it's great. I wanted a small HTPC and this proved better and cheaper than what I would have built myself. I'm stuper happy with this lil' dude. For the price, look and performance, this thing is pretty amazing. Oh and the glowy orange circle on the side is pretty boss too.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: I had never installed an OS via a USB stick before, but that went off without a hitch as well. That was about the trickiest part of the setup.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes a great job...

Pros: Size. For an inexpensive "barebones" system it's got most of what you need. Great for installing open source software OS.

Cons: If you do your homework and know what you are buying: there aren't any. How much can we expect from a sub-$300 system?

Other Thoughts: I needed something "basic", small and simple for my ham radio room. I downloaded the latest Ubuntu and burned it to a CD: when the unit arrived I had it up and running in about 30ish minutes using my outboard CD player. There is a lot of solid ham radio (and other) software out there in open source. I can control my radios, decode digital signals, keep track of satellites, read email, chat and a number of other things, with no problems. Overall I like this unit. Its quiet hanging on the back of the monitor. Would recommend.

5 out of 5 eggsA truely worthy HTPC

Pros: I have had this little PC up and running now for 3 months and felt an update was in order... This little box has been running no-stop the entire time and has rock solid performance. I run Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and XBMC as the front-end to access all my movies, Pictures, and Music effortlessly over my LAN. I fully recommend this to anyone looking for an easy way to upgrade their entertainment center.

Cons: Does run warm... but not alarmingly so, best to mount it away from any other heat sources.

Other Thoughts: Have tried WinXP, Win7, and Ubuntu on this box and all performed well enough... but the performance from it running on Ubuntu wins out. By running Linux, the lack of needing any Anti-Virus software clinging to system resources just makes this set-up a screamer.

4 out of 5 eggsthe good the bad the ugly

Pros: the good, it is small, quite and works. Great for low end HTPC doesn't run hot for me and I have left it on for days at a time. Lots of USB ports. Better then I expected and with fewer issues to deal with to boot. Running HDMI Video and sound to my 40" Sony LCD with beter then expected rusults.

Cons: the bad = Atom 330, as a result of the Atom's specific pin pattern you can not change the cpu except with guess what another Atom CPU. Of course I am and always will be a diehard AMD fan.
Win 7 & Coprocessor driver issue go to Zotac download Vista chipset drivers problem solved.
Onboard wireless for me was intermintent. Pluged in a USB wireless adapter and I was able to surf the net and watch Netflix. Yes I downloaded the new drivers with no change.

Other Thoughts: the ugly truth is that Overall this is a good little set up. Win 7 rates it as a 3.3 with the Atom CPU being the limiting factor. Every thing else HDrive, Video, Meomory (with only 2gigs) all scoring high 4's and 5's. Great for HTPC, Netflix, surfing the web or for those who have very basic computer needs.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Awesome

Pros: Great little inexpensive box for build it yourself DVR
No preloaded OS so I don't get stuck paying for something I don't want.
HDMI, ESATA, and enough USB's to do most anything with.

Cons: Small HDD, requires using ESATA or replacing the internal drive.
Could use a little more memory. I've loaded a lot of extras onto my WMC and it seems to be a little slow now
