5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Love it, I threw 2 more gigabytes of RAM in it and an SSD and this thing handles whatever I throw at it. I've had Windows 7 on it and it ran great, I had Linux on it and it ran great and for about a year or so I've had OpenELEC on it. I'm actually going to repurpose it now as a firewall.

Cons: I upgraded the BIOS on it to fix an issue with it not waking up from sleep, but it ended up bricking the device. I followed the correct procedure to upgrade the BIOS and after it ran the check it said everything was ok. I rebooted it and it bricked itself. I was able to RMA it and get a new one quickly though.

1 out of 5 eggsBad warranty policy.

Pros: Easy to put together. Stable.

Cons: Not happy with Zotac right now. I purchased my ZBox AD02 Plus in December of last year. I misplaced my original invoice about because of that Zotac customer support says that they have to go by the original manufacture date which puts my system at 20-days out of warranty.

It gets worse... They will not even repair an out-of-warranty unit. I even offered to pay for the repairs. Zotac will not repair my less than one year old system.

As of now, I will never buy or sell any more Zotac systems. Zotac just lost a customer and a reseller. :(

4 out of 5 eggsXP installation

Pros: It's a Zbox, I use lot's of them and have yet to have any of the models I use Die / or have issues.

Cons: USB CD/DVD Drive. I found while installing XP pro you could only use the two rear center USB slot's BETWEEN VIDEO AND NIC. Front and Top usb slot you would get BSOD every time. Once Xp started to install and want to reboot you have to switch usb in rear or the bios whouldn't see CD/DVD device?? Really ZOTAC..

Other Thoughts: As an I.T Manager for the past 7 years I have never had this issue. I did try OEM xp pro, xp pro corp & xp pro corp sp3 disks. Was not my Drive or roms. XP Pro OEM is installed now by port swaping USB locations.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent HTCP

Pros: The integrated AMD GPU works great. With Window 7 and XBMC, I have been able to play 1080p H.264 with no glitches while it dumps Dobly Digital or DTS off to my surround sound receiver. It has yet to glitch on any video file I have sent, .mkv, .avi, or even .ogg. I have had no problems playing files from a Drobo FS over the wireless connection.

Cons: The overall system is slow if you want it for general computing. Be prepared to wait if you boot it cold. Also, the BIOS is slightly buggy, it likes to turn the BIOS and boot screens green for some reason. The APU frequently hits 65C+ while running, compared to my desktop which never exceeds 50C.

Other Thoughts: XBMC integration with Android allows me to run the HTCP keyboard/mouse free all the time. I hit the power on, control it with an Acer A500, then hit the power button for a nice controlled shutdown. Backed with a Drobo FS on wireless, its an excellent media server.

2 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with Openelec

Pros: Ordered one of these 6 months ago and everyhting worked great with Openelec but they must have changed the network card because the new one never gets an ip address

Cons: Could not get Any version of Openelec to see the network card. It never got an address from my DHCP Server. Had to use XBMCbuntu for network card to work.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC box

Pros: Love that this is pretty straightforward to set up and go. After grabbing the Openelec Fusion build and installing on this little gem, it booted right into XBMC, found my external HD sources and was able to play media content from it in about 20 minutes flat.

Overall build quality is solid. The unit has flexibility in mounting pretty much anywhere you need, hidden out of sight or in plain view, depending whether you like the Green ring on the side of the case or not. (This can be disabled in BIOS though.)

There is a little fan noise but unnoticeable when viewing video content anyway.

There was still some tweaking left to do in Openelec (which is normal) but overall, very pleased with it. Great value when you bundle the memory (2GB) and HD (250GB HD) and don't notice any performance issues with my usage of it, which is as my central HTPC.

Cons: Not any that is worth noting.

5 out of 5 eggsZ-Box

Pros: I love this on my 60 in HDTV. Runs Hulu and you-tube smooth. Running win 7 32. Installed OS from a thumb drive. Ordered extra memory. running 4gb. 8gb would be overkill. Have it set to my home group and playing all my movies from my other win 7 computers.

Cons: Make sure you update the BIOS first. If you don't you can't switch it from "NATIVE IDE" to "AHCI" for better HDD performance. At least in my case this happened.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff

Pros: The price for a system with 2GB memory and 250GB HDD was too good to pass up. The memory is all on one memory stick, so adding another 2GB was a breeze, and I didn't have to pitch a pair of 1GB memory modules. I will initially use this for a remote system accessing my media server. Later I hope to bring up a VDI environment in my house where super performance from the local device is not required.

I also liked the USB3 ports. Future peripherals will really scream. The system is well constructed and opening the case to add memory was not difficult at all. I can see that the HDD would also be very easy to upgrade to something with SATA3 capabilities for an additional performance boost.

The VESA mounts worked well on my TV and the system is tucked up with nothing other than the cables and the USB DVD player showing. I connected the system to my TV via the HDMI port. That works as expected.

Cons: Doc Blows. I wish there was better documentation for setting the BIOS. It would have saved much time setting it up.

Other Thoughts: The system ships with 2GB of memory on 1-2GB SO-DIMM. I ordered another 2GB stick and now it has 4GB. Very nice. I could have replaced it with 2-4GB SO-DIMMs for 8GB, but it would have been overkill for my application.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mini

Pros: I have been looking for a Mini PC to go behind a TV for streaming and surfing the web. I chose this unit for this purpose and I had no problems installing WIN 7 from a USB DVD player that I purchased for my Netbook after I changed the BIOS to look for this device. I am very pleased with the performance (3.5) and the WiFi is OK but my USB Rosewill N device bumped up the transfer of data so I am using that instead of the built in device. I like everything about this PC and it does everything I was looking for. This is not a gamer PC, however it streams beautifully and it even sends the sound out through the HDMI cable or Optic output for a seperate amplifier if you want that. It is very quiet and efficient too.

Cons: I have not found any Cons. It does exactly as advertised and it is slightly better than I expected.

Other Thoughts: For those who might want it, maybe they should make another one with a built in optic drive. I did not need it but many complain about this. For those that complain that it will not boot from a USB CD/DVD, you have to change that in the BIOS after you connect your USB device. Mine saw my DVD player and listed the device in the BIOS so all I did was to configure the BIOS to boot that first, and the hard drive second. Mine worked great. I sure wish people would not give this unit a lower rating if it does not have something else they wanted that is not listed on the specs. Don't remove one star if you wanted a DVD player and it does not list one in the specs. Remove stars only if it does not comply to the specs please.

5 out of 5 eggsValue Packed Mini System

Pros: The HDD is a Seagate ST92503010AS
This is a 5400RPM, 8MB, 7mm thin drive that at maximum uses 1.78 watts.
It is a SATA 2.0 drive, which is dissappointing because this is a SATA 3.0 system.

4 USB 2.0 (2 in back, 1 on front and 1 on side) and 2 rear USB 3.0 ports.

Got mine for less than $240 with promo code.

Comes with VESA mounting bracket to attach to monitor or wall.

SO QUIET! and power efficent

Seems snappier than Atom 525/ION2 machine it's replacing.

Cons: I knew this going in, but WIFI is not strong...there is no external antenna option. I use a Rosewill USB stick instead for better performance.

No optical drive

Other Thoughts: I bought this "PLUS" system, because hard drives are expensive right now and costed little more than the bare system.

I installed Win 7 Pro x64 via external DVD drive using USB 2.0 port.

Make sure to enter the BIOS and switch it from "NATIVE IDE" to "AHCI" mode for better HDD performance.
