5 out of 5 eggsMakes a nice little Linux box!

Pros: I've tried this as a thin client with LTSP, as a desktop with Linux Mint 13, and now as a server running Debian Squeeze. As a desktop and thin client it took a little tweaking to get the video card set up, but other than that it works well. Also completely silent and seems to run pretty cool.

Cons: The graphics chipset isn't the greatest but once you get the settings right it rips well enough.

Other Thoughts: I bought this one as a test system, but as long as it proves to be reliable I plan to deploy these at several locations as thin clients, desktops, and mini servers. Love the tiny form factor and power savings, not to mention the low price.

2 out of 5 eggsNot for HTPC

Pros: Small form factor

Cons: HDMI is lacking, it will only work on 1 of 4 devices in my house. On the plasma TV's it shows "out of range" and shows nothing at all on my Planar 27" monitor. Does work on my Samsung 55" LED TV.

Bios for this device has not been updated at all since the release of the device. It was a launch and forget device with NO support from Zotac. Drivers are all out dated and don't help with issues the device has.

Device also locks up when loading the lasted XBMC and Ubuntu 12.

Other Thoughts: Glad it was cheap.

4 out of 5 eggsFIRST TIME I TRIED ZOTAC

Pros: Looks nice, Has all the mounting Materials , books , cds , manuals, has camera card reader so you can read the all the memory cards, has lot of usb ports, HDMI, esata, VGA port, Wireless card included. quality production motherboard and materials looks good quality.

Cons: 1) There is no good bios that I can use. it is automatic I press del f1 f2 no luck getting on bios some reason. well it is problem if u put drive in it with windows on it. it doesnt boot from usb it goes to harddrive so i have to take it out drive format the drive then put it in it then install windows from usb
2) Newegg site didn't said it is barebone unit so I talk to representive to fix the description. I was expecting computer not barebone.

3) Drivers should be Flash drive that it is more convient instead using cds machine doesnt have dvd-rom drive it has usb port. so we dont have to go copy dvd to flash drive or look for external dvd -rom drive.

Other Thoughts: Machine looks nice I hook up ssd and good ram in it. it works only I wish was hdmi port was high quality unfortunate it is not.

3 out of 5 eggsLimited to 720p output

Pros: Looks nice and small

Cons: As a previous reviewer stated, this box is limited to outputting 720p. Since this is something out of the ordinary I wanted to post a review to make sure people didn't miss this.

3 out of 5 eggsInexpensive little machine

Pros: It's a small dual core atom that can be mounted or placed out of the way. Six USB ports is pretty nice. I like the atom D525, and this barebone helped reach a very low budget.

Cons: The HDMI port sucks. the max resolution I can get out of it is 1280x720, while VGA goes to 1920x1080 on my monitor. Intel's driver calls the HDMI port "notebook" and the VGA port "Monitor" so I'm thinking this has to do with the board. The driver also says the VGA port will go to 1920x1200, but I don't have a monitor to test that.

Other Thoughts: I've checked a bit online, and it seems to be a problem with the zotac, and not the intel gma3150. It's the first time I've ever seen this problem. If I hadn't been on a tiny budget(<$250), I'd have probably gone with a Jetway with nvidia ION graphics. 3 stars because I will be able to make it work, just not as well as I'd wanted.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi nat

The HDMI max resolution being at 1280x720 is not an issue. It is a limit put on the HDMI port. The more info can be found in the product PDF
