5 out of 5 eggsGreat little computer!

Pros: I bought two of these to replace a pair of aging Pentium 4 towers that were gulping up $500 worth of electricity per year between them. These ZBOXes are very power miserly (about 20W flat out, 5W when in standby mode), extremely quiet, and are about 50% faster than my old P4s (yeah, I know I could have gotten much faster machines, but didn't really see the need).

Cons: Just a few more USB ports would have been nice.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Box!

Pros: Relatively inexpensive, QUIET, cool running, seems rock-solid

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I built this with 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD running OpenSuse 13.2 to run and collect data for my Davis weather station.

I had previously built another "Brand-X" (El Cheep-O from an ePay seller) machine for this function, but the cooling fan in it sounded like a 747 at idle. WAY too loud to live under my desk in the Living Room where it runs 24/7/365.

So far it runs flawlessly, makes ZERO noise, generates very little heat, and is about 1/4 the size of the junk pile I'm replacing.

5 out of 5 eggsGood HTPC

Pros: Stays cool, good for htcp use. performs better than my asus mini pc 1033. would buy again

Cons: 500 gig HDD capacity as per specs...didn't try any bigger but may work. processor very weak at video rendering certain movie file types have to be played on different software eg .mp4 on win media player and .avi on vlc movie player if you don't the encoding lag makes the movie unwatchable.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Small
Easy to setup

Cons: I haven't found any so far.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to use for a Kodi/XBMC media center. I just added the RAM, which was done easily and without tools, and installed OpenELEC. It was uneventful and it has been working ever since. I never power it off. I can't hear the fan.

5 out of 5 eggsNice little machine! Works perfectly for media and browsing.

Pros: - Small size, similar typical hardcover book.
- CPU heat fan is nearly silent.
- Designed with heat exhaust vent pointed upward when mounted in bracket. Pulls heat from side.
- Took under 3 minutes to install hard drive and memory, and start Windows 8.1 install.
- Easy to open and upgrade with two large thumbscrews.
- No additional drivers needed to connect to TV, keyboard, mouse, or external HD.
- 2 USB 3.0 ports.
- 1 eSATA port.
- DVI port in case the HDMI on your TV/monitor is substandard in quality.

Cons: - No VESA bracket to attach to back of flat screen TV.
- 3.5 mm audio connectors are on the front of the unit.
- HDMI is bleached and grainy on SyncMaster P2770HD flat screen monitor. Switched back to DVI connection and 3.5mm audio.

Other Thoughts: I am overwhelmingly pleased with this little computer. Speedy booting, instant feedback, no noise, and incredibly simple to handle and upgrade.

I purchased the unit to replace my 4-year-old MSI Global Wind Box DE500, which was large, overheating, and difficult to upgrade.

When the unit arrived, I opened the shipping box, removed the device, and installed both the 1 TB Western Digital drive, and the 8GB (2x4GB) of New Hynix PC3-12800S DDR3-1600Mhz memory within minutes. I plugged in my keyboard, mouse, DVD drive, and monitor and switched the unit on. Windows 8.1 was installed within 20 minutes, and I had it fully updated by the end of the night.

The unit now sits in its stand behind my TV and has given me no trouble in the month I've owned it. I will be adding a 1TB eSATA backup OS drive (also a 2.5 Western Digital) and will perform an OS image backup, just to be safe.

The few cons I've noticed aren't frustrating, simply slightly inconvenient if it's not tucked away.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat as a server

Pros: Cool, Quiet, Low Power, Fast. I've added 8GB of RAM and a SSD. It runs 2x 2012 R2 in Hyper-V on top of a Server 2012 R2 for the main OS. Boots in seconds.

Cons: I wish it had a mini pci slot so I could have a SSD in the slot and a spinning HDD in the 2.5 bay.

Other Thoughts: I use it in as a home lab for school. It has 2VMs that I use mainly for Active Directory, DNS, WSUS and WDS. Recently move that stuff from a regular desktop PC.
