1 out of 5 eggsReceived used

Pros: Minix makes quality products

Cons: Received mine used, more than one. Scratches and even sd cards in 2 of them. Obviously not new as sold.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected!

Pros: Great way to make a TV a smart TV. I picked this up on sale at Newegg and find the low ratings to be surprising. I think that's because early firmware had problems, but since then newer firmware seems to work a lot better. My main use is for youtube and XBMC which work great, although XBMC on Android is still very much a work in progress so you may find XBMC to not be quite as stable as it is for Linux or M$ windows, but developers are working the kinks out as time goes on. I had initially bought a Raspberry PI for XBMC but scrolling through menus was painful on the PI, on the G4 it's nearly as fast as my dual core HTPC making using XBMC a much more enjoyable experience.

I'm giving it 5 eggs if you can get it on sale like I did (20 bucks less then current price), otherwise it would be 4 eggs at current price.

Cons: The remote is useless for a product like this. It's infrared, but most people will probably put the G4 behind their TV at which point it makes the remote completely useless. My advice is to pick up the Logitech K400 keyboard for it, works great for the G4! Otherwise Minix provides an app that can be used on your Android smart phone to remote control it.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't buy this for grandma and grandpa unless they are technology freaks. This stick is basically an Android tablet on your TV, so you do need to be a bit of a technology tinkerer to get the full benefits For those technology challenged I recommend Roku products.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the investment

Pros: Size, weight, potential

Cons: poorly built, poorly written instruction guide, power

Other Thoughts: I had very high hopes for this gadget and I was quickly disappointed. First off I was hoping to do some internet streaming on my LCD tv and this gadget did a very poor job at that. Secondly it is very poorly built. Within 1 month the plug (in the Minix) for the power supply broke. Since then this Minix stopped working. This gadget was promoted as being a mini computer for a cheap price it is far from being that!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little pocket PC

Pros: Great little android computer add on for tv. Runs XBMC well. Seems to be supported well by enthusiast forums an by the minix site.

It looks like they are continuing to work on updates to improve it even further. Has the Google Market (or whatever they call it now).

Cons: Included remote is not that great. If you have an Android phone, load up the RKremoteControl app which is very nicely done.

Other Thoughts: Have used XBMC on Windows, Raspberry PI and this little Android computer makes a nice little portable solution besides being a computer in its own right. Pretty inexpensive for the amount of function and fun.

1 out of 5 eggsConstant Reboots

Pros: Compact package, pretty straightforward to set up.

Cons: Reboots roughly every 2 minutes. Doesn't matter whether I'm running a slide show off usb, streaming internet video, or just clicking through the system. Included remote is worthless; can't navigate between actions.

Other Thoughts: RMA'd to newegg. Will update my review if replacement works.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Works as advertised - not quite as responsive as my Nexus 7, but the cost is certainly less - I have it hooked up to a 27" monitor, with a wireless mouse and keyboard

Cons: Not as easy to upgrade the Android version as the Nexus 7.

Other Thoughts: All in all I like it very much. It does what I want it to do just fine

2 out of 5 eggsNot ready for Prime Time

Pros: This is a very neat little bar. The device is quite agile with only minimal lag in performing functions.

Cons: Most have noted that the remote is weak and ineffective, I agree.

The big problem, however, is its inability to stream content fast enough to allow for decent playback. The unit this was meant to replace, a WD TV Live, has no trouble streaming content from a D-Link DNS-321 NAS through a Arris TG862 provided from my cable company.

Speedcheck on an iPad 2 shows download at 19 Mps and the G4 downloads at barely 2 Mps.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to learn a bit about the AndroidOS, and while it seems pretty good, the lack of streaming performance leaves me with a novelty brick.

I should have checked the blogs before I bought as there seems to be hints of the problem out there.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well with XBMC

Pros: Works well with XBMC.
Built in Wifi works well.
Small footprint, doesn't take up much space.

Cons: Streaming anything above 720p is not watchable.
The included remote is useless, use a wireless mouse instead.

Other Thoughts: Got this to install XBMC.
As long as you stay with 720p streams and under, it's good. I would expect future firmware to possibly correct this issue.

4 out of 5 eggsThis works great!

Pros: Very easy setup especially if you are familiar with the Android OS. One of the best purchases I made in a long time.

Cons: the remote control it comes with is practically useless. I connected a wireless mouse and it worked great without any additional setup.
