2 out of 5 eggsHalf-baked

Pros: Customizable, nice construction, good user community.

Cons: Slow. I had to stop using this because it can't handle streaming HD over wired ethernet, which, btw, this has only a 100Mb port, without severe stuttering. I had to stop using it. It's a doorstop for me now. It also crashed a lot with stock ROMs. With custom ROMs, it performed slightly better, but I still had issues with XBMC sucking.

Other Thoughts: These kinds of devices are great ideas, but they seem to suffer from poor engineering in the software/firmware.

2 out of 5 eggsBugs, crashes...dumb media hub

Pros: I dont really know anymore...everything I bought this device for seems to not work.

Looks cool, packaging was trendy, has good wifi range and lots of ports.

Cons: XBMC constantly crashes, constantly resets itself back to default settings. I'v spent more time setting XBMC up and resetting this silly box (about 6 times now) than I have spent enjoying anything it provides. I have another branded XBMC box I bought for my mother and it does not do this, I set it up once months ago once and its been great ever since.

Minix does not work with Google Play Music...half of the reason I bought it was to listen to music. When you play a song, it does not play the next song, and some songs cause the app to entirely freeze. If you plan on using Google play like me (I use it on every device I own and love it) don't buy a Minix.

Does not turn on via remote, you must press button on device. (minor issue)

At first I used a lot of the same apps on my Minix as I did on my equally hardware specced Android phone. The Minix absolutely pales in comparison and lags horribly. My mothers android box has half the hardware specs and seems to run better than my Minix in every say.

Other Thoughts: If you plan on using this box for Google Play Music, don't bother because it does not work.

Every time I have had to reset this box and set it all back up again I regret not simply sending it back for a refund. I dont even use it now out of pure frustration and the fact it doesn't do much of what I thought it would, and when it does its like pulling teeth with lag, crashes, freezing...

2 out of 5 eggsStill not good enough

Pros: More features than you'll need.

Cons: Internal flash IO is very slow, its as if your running of a usb or sd card.
After a few weeks is will slow to a crawl until you reset the device. Software, like all these devices is buggy.
Controller sucks even with third party HIDs (again like most of these devices)

Other Thoughts: ONLY for tech savvy folks, DO NOT get this for your wife or parents they will hate it.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent product

Pros: Nice little Android box. I have not done much besides load Netflix so forth onto it and used it to stream.

Cons: Built in wifi is very choppy when streaming movies and other media. If you hook it up to a wired connection everything streams smoothly.

5 out of 5 eggsgood but over priced for compared to whats out now

Pros: good wifi fast and easy set up and open use with xvmc but not as fast as fire tv but all in all its way better than net flix and having to download tv shows xbmc is the bomb and don't spend $$$ on apple tv its a waste of money

Cons: over price that oyna and fire tv have better hard wear for less

Other Thoughts: id go with a oyna or a fire tv for the price you can get oyan for like $50-60 on sale and fire tv is faster and only 100

4 out of 5 eggsBest on the Market, right now

Pros: Better than my phone on my TV.

Cons: My only gripe is I have to reboot it about once a week, it just hangs in XBMC. However, with that said, I use if for all kinds of stuff. Everything from combining my analog cameras through the DVR and my IP cameras to XBMC for a free cable TV experience. Oh, the remote is almost point less. Get the A2 remote.

4 out of 5 eggsNot sure yet

Pros: It suns most apps pretty smooth.... its low power compared to my desktop so if i just want to browse the web or stream video I don't have to worry about using too much electricity.

Cons: The remote that comes with it is absolutely terrible. It doesn't work inside of most apps.

Other Thoughts: more to come after i get the air mouse I bought for this in the mail and fiddle with this some more. I have played some snes games on it and it ran pretty good.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Minix has just released new XBMC software for the Minix Neo 7 and the Minix mini . The software works very well. Its is a well build machine , lots of ports , great wifi reception on the Neo 7 with the external antenna . Works well with a wireless mouse and the included remote , you need to use both in unison with each other to make the XBMC program work well.

Cons: The Minix will not work well with my home theater like my mac mini does . I have to run the HDMI cable to the 50 plasma , in order for it to run well. If I wire to the home theater box , the picture cuts out for a second or 2 ever minute or 2.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend to this box to anyone who wants to run XBMC , just keep in mind , for now it has to be wired straight to the monitor. I have been unable to find a fix for this in the settings , if someone is able make it work through the Home Theater box , I would like to know.

3 out of 5 eggssomething still missing

Pros: good hardware spec and construction. generic android box provide great potential. good video quality and streaming from android/ios works fine.

Cons: the remote control come with the device is terrible and almost useless. battery locking tab broken after first use. The remote apps for android device from MiniX seem much better. However it is still not as polished as free xbmc controller apps.

Other Thoughts: As most of other users, i am playing to use this box as xbmc media server and streaming a/v to this box from android/ios devices. i can see it has a great potential but not as easy to use as other consumer products.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product But....

Pros: The rockchip Quad Core 1.6Ghz CPU makes for a zippy little device along with the quad core GPU. This can be used as a stand alone computer for basic needs such as email, web browsing, productivity, and light gaming. No need for a large desktop this can replace it for light tasks its fast enough for everyday use. Three USB ports is a plus, plus a fourth if the OTG port is used.

Cons: Could have given 5 eggs, but the unit I got was not new. The plastic protective film that covers the unit was actually peel off and the unit had finger prints on it. Seems that I got either a demo or someone likes to tamper with items before shipping.

Other Thoughts: The unit I got was either tampered with or was a demo, all the protective films on the device was taken off and the box wasn't sealed when I received it. I had higher expectations from new egg but this was a let down. All in all the device works except that the remote doesn't function at all.
