The nüvi 250W from Garmin makes navigation even easier with a 4.3" widescreen display that has a 480x272 pixel resolution. The added screen real estate provides greater detail and more information to be shown. The TFT screen with white backlight makes it easy to see in virtually all lighting conditions.

The 250W comes with City Navigator NT street maps built in, containing a large points of interest (POI) database including hotels, restaurants, gas station, ATMs and more. Plus, you can enter your own POIs such as school zones and safety cameras. Once they’ve been entered you can set proximity alarms to warn you of upcoming POIs.

Garmin goes beyond navigation with added features like a JPEG picture viewer, world clock with time zones, currency and measurement converters and more. The SD card slot lets you add travel guides for your trips. The Garmin Lock anti-theft feature disables the unit if stolen.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat GPS for the price

Pros: Bright screen
Day/night theme switching
Finds satellites quickly
Plenty of POIs
Loud speaker
Good destination routing
Comes with mount and charger
Free 2009 map update from Garmin's site
Ability to enter coordinates

Cons: No text to speech
Does not display speed limits

Other Thoughts: Go to Garmin's website and get the update, it is well worth the long download and install time.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the Job

Pros: Great, wide, clear screen. Good database, new maps 2009 updated when frst connnected to the web site. Easy to use. Does the job.

Cons: It turned off completely, take some time to aquire, just plan ahead.

Other Thoughts: I researched much before buying this unit was perfect! Very easy to use, latge clear screen, I have no need for Bluetooth or Text to speech. Best bang for the buck.

4 out of 5 eggsLost In Space

Pros: Basic unit - no frills. That is what I wanted and what I got. Nice screen.

Cons: I live in central Canada and have made a few trips to Texas. At one point in the first trip wanted me to turn left (I was going over a bridge at the time) oops. There had been more than a few map errors so I spent the 70.00 and upgraded to Maps 2009. Worked OK for Texas trips but in southern Ontario I was in the ditch for 20 miles on an older highway. No excuse for these errors. Wants to argue with you if you don't take the route it wants in areas where you know the roads.

Other Thoughts: City addresses seem to be working satisfactorily. I was surprised at the errors on major highways. Not sure if all Garmin units would be like this one but I would not buy this model again.

5 out of 5 eggsGarmin nuvi 250W

Pros: Very nice unit. I don't use it much, but when I need it, it comes through like a champ. Newegg accidently sent me the Central American version but sent me a brand new North American version promptly. I will be buying from Newegg for a long time!

Cons: None!

5 out of 5 eggsCake walk

Pros: Somethings just don't have to be complicated. This Nuvi is one of those things. Forget zoning in on 3 satellites, etc.
Hook this baby up and she works great! Purposely miss turns and it recalulates within seconds. That way I can still take the 'back way' home

Cons: Annoying warning sign about making calculations while moving in a car.

Other Thoughts: Why spend several hundreds of dollars when you can have this one for under $200?

3 out of 5 eggsNot what I expected...

Pros: It showed up (fast shipping as always) and looks nice...

Cons: What I got only had maps for Mexico. When you enter the State/Provence for the address you want to go to, It only has locations in Mexico. On the box I received, it clearly stated that it only had Maps for Mexico. I did not see anywhere in the Description for this product that it only had Mexico. It seemed to indicate that it had all of North America.

Other Thoughts: I talked to GARMIN's Tech support an they said that there are many different versions of the 250W and that there was nothing that they could do to change the maps since it was preprogrammed at the factory. They told me to send it back to NewEgg. I have RAM'd it and am awaiting mu 250W for the USA. I'll repost when I get the new unit.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy to use and start-up. Very inituitive interface. Bought as a gift for my in-laws - technically challenged and older 70+. They love it and like how easy it is use. It does what they say it will.

Cons: Wish it had an ac adapter for charging in the house. Garmin should put out miore detailed info on database updates with the device.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's ok

Pros: It's small, light, and pretty easy to use.

Cons: No carrying case, no wall charger, once you stick the mounting device to your windshield it will never come off - I've pulled and pulled. Make sure the clip is locked in place other wise the suction won't stay and the unit will fall right off. It doesn't tell you what to do until you're right up on the exit. In heavy traffic, this is a pain. I wish it had the ability to flip foward and backward through each step of the trip (like on my VZ Navigator).

Other Thoughts: I wish I would have saved my money and not bought it. I like VZ Navigator 100 times better.

2 out of 5 eggsShameful.

Pros: Wide screen, big buttons.. that's about all that's good about it.

Cons: Takes on average 10 minutes to get a signal. It's useless for any short trips. Uses reception all the time!

It's very fragile! Mine broke after a few weeks (had to buy another one). The glass cracked in my sweater pocket! Yes, the little pressure applied by my arm to my waist opened the case, and the glass shattered, and made the device unusable.

Oh, by the way, this thing can't do Text to Speech, so it won't say anything useful... ever.

Other Thoughts: I bought another one, because they went on sale like butterflies on a famous auction site, because 260 model came out. I might live to regret it, if I ever use it.
Don't waste your money.

5 out of 5 eggsvery pleased

Pros: Fairly intuitive to use, aquisition of location usually within a minute or two, portable friction mount works great, audible turn instructions are fine

Cons: User manual is minimal - no help on website, full capabilities require playing with it

Other Thoughts: Another comment noted that the mounting bracket can pop easily off the socket ball - mine does too. However, I've wrapped the power cord around the arm several times so that if it does pop off, it won't fall off the dash. It hasn't popped off yet, even with the suspension of a pickup truck. It may just be a clever design that holds well, but pops off easily for storage - if it didn't, it would wear out easily. I'm very pleased with it and the Newegg price.
