Best Invention Since The Wheel Was Invented
- Pros: Great product. It does just what its suppose to do which is to keep you from getting lost and to get you from point A to point B, in most cases rite to the front door, a feature that has saved us much time and money.
I have owned my Garmin 780 which I purchased on here 6 months ago for a great price and so far the above unit has paid for itself 4 times over and then some.
- Cons: The only complaint I have is not with the unit itself but with the MSN Life Time Service. Garmin advertises that you will pay a one time fee of $129.95 + Tax to MSN for Life Time Traffic and Info Service, but when I called to renew my service I was informed that (By Microsoft)Microsoft considers the word Lifetime to be only 5 years. Just so everyone understands I have no complaints about paying $129.00 for 5 years service for the above feature (A feature that has save me much money) I just wish they would take the words One Time Lifetime Payment out of the advertisement.
- Other Thoughts: I love this thing, I only wish they (GPS Units) would have been available when I was driving the Big Trucks hauling machinery and steel into cities like LA/NYC/Boston and Chicago back in the Seventy's. I would also like to add that if you have never used a GPS before you need to give yourself some time to really get to know the above unit because it took me a while to figure out the different settings, but once I did it was a joy to use. On a recent 16 day Fly/Drive trip to California and Nevada I took the time to preload all the names and addresses of the places we planned on visiting along with the routes and it made our ventures to places like LA/San Fransisco and several National Parks enjoyable + this is the first vacation that I have never had pull over and stop and send the wife into a Gas Station to get directions because we were hopelessly loss or need directions to a restaurant or hotel.
Much better than my old Magellan Meridian Color
- Pros: Finds satellites and locks in quickly; Meridian could take upto 15 min or not at all. Activated MSDirect and have sent locations to nuvi from my browser window. Real time traffic info is great. No problems locking into MS Direct but only have used it locally in NE Ohio. Bluetooth allows no hands phone use and is easy to set up and use. Oh, and routes me to and from my destination directly.
- Cons: Can not generate a list of directions from current location to endpoint that my Meridian Color could. Could not make the FM broadcast work correctly, but neither did I read the directions and I listen to the radio alot so why keep it on an unused frequency?
- Other Thoughts: Made in America; Magellan is owned by a French company that never delivered on web based updates to their POI database that they promised in their press releases. Because of that and because updating the software from the unusable Mapsend Streetsand Destinations USA to an adequate Mapsend Direct required much $ I will never purchase Magellan again as I do not trust them.

MSN Direct
- Pros: Nice unit
- Cons: To make it clear Lifetime sud to MSN is not really 5 years Microsoft has announced they will discontinue the service by Jan 2012. So u only get 2 years sad they dont mention that but it is on the web site and a quick google search will bring up the news artcile.
good gps
- Pros: nice touch screen. bluetooth, mp3, configurable vehicle icons. precise direction.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: I own this gps for 3 months now, and so far it works great. the direction is precise.
MSN Direct - great service. I use the free subscription that came with this GPS. But while you read this, I don't think getting a lifetime (5 years) subscription is worth it anymore. Because MSN direct service will be terminate in 2-3 more years.
Works Great
- Pros: I am a real estate appraiser and drive 24k-30k miles a year. This product works fantastic and has given me a couple routes I would never have tried and saved some time. It has led to one road that was blocked permanently but no mapping program can be absolutely perfect in every city & state and your kidding yourself if think there is one. Unlike what some other reviewers said it does tell you what direction to turn & shows it on the screen. Multiple locations works great, a real time saver for my profession. The MSN direct service is pretty cool for checking gas stations, movies, FOOD...not sure yet if I will continue after the three month trial. For under $200 you cant beat it. Updated map flawlessly for free.
- Cons: Fm transmitter is kind of a joke it works but not really very well. Its not necessary in my opinion so I didn't knock it a star.
- Other Thoughts: Very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend especially for under $200 shipped.
