- Pros: Very accurate, works great in and around buildings and under dense trees. Usually around 20-30ft accuracy, sometimes as good as 3ft. I'm very impressed.
Also very durable. Dropped it a good 3-4ft onto concrete and it's fine.
- Cons: Only really accurate if you are moving, but then... if you're not moving why do you need a GPS?
Also can only connect to a computer through a serial port unless you buy an adapter, which is odd because the Garmin software doesn't always recognize the unit when plugged in the a serial port (if you have one) or with the adapter.
- Other Thoughts: There are no maps at all on it, which is not an issue unless you really need them. I pair this with a Mio Digiwalker and do just fine.
This is a great unit for starting Geocaching - and at an amazing Newegg price. If you're just getting into the sport, this is a good unit to start with.
Nice little toy
- Pros: 1. High sensitivity - works even in a house
2. Compact 3. Simple to use
- Cons: 1. Small screen
2. No possibility to pan the map
- Other Thoughts: I also bought Garmin GPS 60. It has a bigger screen and a more sophisticated user interface. But it is less sensitive and less accurate (5 m with WAAS, while eTrex has 3 m with WAAS). I am going to use GPS 60 where possible and this eTrex H under dense tree crowns.
I bought both devices with a specific goal to use them in areas that are not mapped yet.
