USB Port and microSD Card Expandability Add more maps, street routing and POIs onto your microSD card! With the USB port, downloading data from your PC is a snap.
Pros: As a college student, my budget does not allow much wiggle room for extemporaneous spending. Thus when I was considering a GPS, I needed to find one that would provide the best quality for the least dollar - the Garmin Nuvi 255 is just that. When I purchased this unit, I intentionally attempted to get lost amongst the winding roads of south central Pennsylvania, to see how fast the unit could catch up and re-calculate a route back to my house. The unit was able to adjust within seconds and I am quite satisfied!
Cons: The only element which I am 'upset' over is the sheen on the screen. When driving during the late morning or early afternoon, the amount of sunlight reflecting off the screen does diminish the display somewhat. Even so, the voice commands of the upcoming street compensate nicely.
Other Thoughts: This unit is a good buy for someone who wants reliable navigation at a reasonable price.

Pros: Live in the Seattle area and the 255 works great! Updated the software and maps from Garmin's site with ease and no stress. I like the option to switch from pedestrian, bicycle and auto functions.
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: Great bargain at the $120 price range.

Rating: 5/5Garmin is the best
Pros: Works as advertised. Gives me the speed limit on the road. Had used another top manufacture tom tom and this is much better
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: I bought this because i also have a radar and the cig lighter kept blowing fuses. with two acc. I went o local Radio Shack with a cable and usb on the end to get the positive and negative. The manager told me it would not mater. I told him it does , being doing this since '79 I asked if he could use a vom to do a continuity of the wire and he gave me the wrong information. Blew out the 200 right away. The I went there just to get a coiled power supply for cig lighter and they have a universal adapter. I told them and this is 3 separate stores they are industry standard. They had multiple usb , don't know why. Blackberry, motorolla and gps all have the same usb power

Pros: Compact size is not a distraction while driving.
Easy to stick the suction cup to the windshield.
Got me where I needed to go with very little effort.
Cons: Gets confused at interchanges or when you cross under another street (In Seattle when I take the Express lanes it gets very confused as to where I am.)
Has taken me the long way around several times to get someplace due to its default setting to fastest route. (Based on speed limits)
Voices are annoying as all get out. I find myself shutting off the sound simply so I have some peace and quiet.
Other Thoughts: None

Rating: 5/5Awsomeness
Pros: 3.5" display, Fast Routing, Fast Searching, POI, GOOGLE map compatible, GPS Reception is Great and very good at LOCKING, Work in garage, living room, bedroom, bathroom, and basement, Microsd support only, Jpeg slide show is a plus, Voice guidance, fast rerouting, Read Street Name
Cons: No usb data cable, no Ac wall charger, doesnt come with a bag for the gps unit, no forever maps update id card as shown in the last picture of this gps unit i wasn't surprise though although it will be a good as deal if it does come with it. Don't buy those 3 dollar cheap ac wall charger off from (x)-bay ... trust me i got one and i regretted because it kept sending my gps unit to Pc-mode and it wont charge my gps unit. Like people said you get wat u paid for haha
Other Thoughts: none beside my cons and pro ;)

Pros: Very fast lock-on to satellites. Clear display. Shows every road in my area.
Cons: It does everything I wanted. 2 gig download took awhile and would not work on my older laptop, but worked fine on wife's new laptop.
Other Thoughts: I love this GPS. I have an excellent sense of direction, but this is really useful. I didn't want alot of extra functions, just the basics.

Rating: 4/5Very, very convenient
Pros: Fast at locking on satellites Can send destinations to unit from google maps or mapquest with a plugin Can add multiple via points en route to a final destination. Good user support in forums. Memory is expandible via 2Gig miniSD card Had the latest 2010 maps. Speed limits are visible at all times. Points of Interest (POI) databases exist for free for red light cameras, speed traps, free internet hotspots, etc
Cons: Routing is not as precise as I would have desired. Routing is particularly weak coming into or out of parking lots. New roads or road changes can throw it for a loop. My battery life is not quite 4 hours No usb to mini usb cable is included Only car charger is included, but my Motorola AC cell phone charger with mini usb connection works for it perfectly. Entering locations via the touchpad is time consuming A computer really helps getting the most out of the unit.
Other Thoughts: M 1st GPS. Being able to send destinations to it from google maps or mapquest is great. I downloaded a lot of free POI, especially the traffic ones. If this helps with one ticket, its gravy. Non advertised feature -- You can add multiple via points, i.e. locations you want to go to along the way. The usb to mini usb cable is not included and should be, IMHO. My motorola cell phone charger works for charging it! The routing seems to prefer keeping you on major roads. Routing to stores is imprecise, and has some difficulty in parking lots. It once told me a destination was on the wrong side of the road. Construction and road changes throw it for a loop even though some of the changes are a couple years old. Overall, I still really like it because it has helped me to get around some very confusing roads on Northern VA. Since using this, even if I or IT mess up a turn, it recovers quickly and helps get me there. Without a computer, I give it a 3 since the touchpad is so-

Pros: Excellent Reception. Great Accuracy and fast. I had the nuvi 200 previously and recently switched to this. You can tell that this is significantly faster in calculations/recalculations. The TTS is really nice and convenient and lets you keep your eyes on the road. Although I'm not too fond of the American English voices that are included. The guy sounds like the old Mac voice and the woman just sounds angry. The speed limits displayed on the map is almost dead on accurate even on roads that changes the speed limit every few miles...which I found to be the most impressive thing on this nuvi.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: You can't go wrong with Garmin both in quality and reliability.

Rating: 4/5Paid for itself on the first trip
Pros: Quickly acquires satellites Quickly recalculates if you miss a turn Like the speedometer feature Good value Voice feature clear and understandable
Cons: None yet
Other Thoughts: This is my first GPS unit. We don't travel a lot so never really had a need. We just took a trip to Virginia from our home in Upstate NY and the wife thought we needed one. I compared a bunch of these units on the net and decided to go with the Nuvi 255 based on the positive reviews I had read. This unit was very helpful and I couldn't be more pleased with the way it worked.

Pros: This GPS is like all Garmin Devices, awesome. I was able to update the firmware to the latest version online. I even got updates for some voices and grabbed some extras online. I got the latest map. The device works great. Nice and clear.
Cons: Micro SD not standard SD.
Other Thoughts: For the price its not bad, I wish I could afford the higher end Garmin Devices but this one has everything you need.
