Not-To-Shabby (at all)
- Pros: Has working Bluetooth,
FM transmitting,
street names with distance to turn,
MP3 & JPG playback capability with SDCard,
very accurate & quick to acquire satellites.
Excellent, bright view-ability in all light.
- Cons: Boot-up could be faster,
max volume not loud enough in any vehicle other than a quiet car with windows all up. Forget about hearing anything but the FM in a big-truck.
Should be more trucker-friendly with regard to weight limits etc.
Poor battery life. For the price, battery should last much longer & be user-replaceable.
Lane assist doesn't work in Western NYS.
Should be a little quicker with the last announcement/command @ highway speeds.
Latest free map & software update should have more new development/street locations. Another mounting disk would be nice &/or lower cost for extra disks.
- Other Thoughts: Uhm-teen bucks for two extra mounting disks is a bit much, for what amounts to a Pringles tube lid on double-sided tape.
In my car, with windows up, the volume for commands & telephone conversation via the bluetooth works fine both for me to hear as well as my being heard/understood. Open the windows or in a much noisier truck I'm pretty much limited to hearing via the FM with volume almost to the max but my being heard is not good.
I've been surprised at quite a few newer streets that have been on the grid for more than a year are missing from the latest map/software update.
It sure would be nice to be able to load the trucking maps/software. The trucker model has no bluetooth & is twice the price. Most of which I new or expected prior to purchase.
Despite these cons. For the most part it delivers on all accounts & is working as well or maybe even a little better than I expected & I don't even know how to use some of its attributes. No regrets & I can recommend it highly.
Expected better
- Pros: Accurate Gps positioning for NY an CT.
FM trafic included works well.
Has an MP3 player.
3D View is ok, Lane guidance is usefull.
Hands free phone calls.
- Cons: A mention already runs hot.
Bluetooth is fimzy, dows not sik with call log or phone book for some reason it did sink iwth an older model 265WT I have Behold
Battery life is closer to 2 housrs, and it's up to 3 on garmit website not up to 5 shown on new egg.
I lost my sounds once complettly, sotware glitch or unit overheated, had to reset unit twice to get it back.
Audio jack is in bad location, wehn you have gps on windwhiled adio cable on one side power on the other block your view, would be good if it was on bottom.
- Other Thoughts: I gave gps 4 eggs becouse gps it self is good, it also has all those extra features but some of them need improvments hopefully it will be fixed with the software update.
Also I did update my unit no problem, some people mentioned it froze on them after update, my works fine just follow the instructions
Mine died, too.
- Pros: When it worked, it was very nice with great features and a very nice display. When it actually worked.
- Cons: It died. When alive, the sound volume was very low, too low to hear most of the time unless all the windows were up and you were travelling slowly. But that's not important now because it died with the "firmware update" issue. When it comes back, I'm dumping it since I no longer trust it. Very disappointing!
