5 out of 5 eggsGreat model

Pros: Ive owned this model before and that is why iv'e bought it again.

It's a very accurate gps and gets better with updates.
as long as you use personal knowledge and your own good sense's it's hard to get lost.

Gps's are guides remember that lol.

was an added bonus to get all the extra parts included at the time i bought this one again that's other main reason why i bought this one again.

I broke the one before doh.

Cons: No Bluetooth but if ya want that the 265 has that and is just as good as this model least most versions of the 265 are.

Other Thoughts: There is alot of diffrent options for hands free speaking with bluetooth overall not a loss.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: Excellent unit. Wife uses it for work as she travels a large area. Gets her to where she is going without stopping to pull out a map. She loves it.

Cons: Future maps should always be free, IMHO.

2 out of 5 eggsDevice is great...until it stops

Pros: I liked the looks readability, usability and accessories. Did not try the bluetooth link but it sounded good. Website made it easy to determine software and map updates needed.

Cons: It worked for almost 30 min before locking up the first time during a setting change of language. Ok, reset, start over and update firmware that was 2 versions behind when I got it. The update claimed to work 100% but bricked it. A little googling showed me this has been a widespread problem for years and never fixed. To unbrick requires waiting until you can get a Garmin tech to take over your PC via internet and run secret programs or send it back. Thats too much to ask for an update you may do 4 times a year. RMA'ed and looking for one with more stability. Most GPS seem to have real update issues however.

Other Thoughts: 2 eggs for a neat device with accessories, -2 eggs for poor software.

4 out of 5 eggsOK device

Pros: gives decent directions. Lets my wife navigate the area and finds the local schools for the kids football practices.

Cons: map updates are painful. I recently tried the process and it is cumbersome to set-up (I didn't count but could be over 20 steps to get to where you want on their webpage). On top of it, the update process requires several hours to complete the download (that information is buried somewhere in the instructions manual). I set it for overnight update and in the morning it was still not done.

Other Thoughts: 1-does not beat local knowledge. I cover about 60 square miles in SW Ohio weekly and I am still much better at navigating that area.
2-after years of improvements still cumbersome to enter new destinations.
3-I still prefer mapping my destiantions in google maps rather than rely on this device.

5 out of 5 eggsGet Lost, Seriously, and Have Fun

Pros: I didn't purchase my Nuvi 255W because a big box store had it for the same price and I did a store pickup (however, I did purchase my camera from Newegg, which I've also reviewed). Anyway, this system works right out of the box. I consider myself tech savvy, but would venture to guess the laymen would have an easy time understanding its features. I like the MPH feature that displays your speed vs. the posted speed for the road you are traveling on.

Voice prompt is clear and maps are easy-to-read.

Cons: When you turn on the power, it takes a few seconds to "warm up," giving you the impression you haven't turned it on when you have. If you are in a heavily-treed area (even in the city), it can take time to locate the satellites, but that is not a big deal. Just wait for the satellites to be found.

Garmin doesn't include a charger you can use in your home; this includes a car charger only.

Other Thoughts: Excellent value; I love exploring new places and traveling, but carrying around paper printouts of Googlemaps is not a good idea when traveling alone and I don't like using my Smartphone in the car for GPS purposes.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to use

Pros: First time GPS users will like this, Birthday Gift for the sweetie and she loves it. I set it up and updated it with my PC first then gave to her ready to go.
Hats of to Garmin for this one
Easy to sit in the chair and figure out the menus. She hates tech gear that's hard to figure out, it corrects and auto fills as you type that really makes it easy to find address with out typing in the whole address, want to go home its on the second screen pick it and it shows you the way home.
Wide screen is big enough to see with out readers on I'm a 1.5 (Readers) at two feet and had no problem reading the screen.
You can change the voice to British which left us in stitches at times, Slip Road?
If your looking for a gift for someone who loves maps but gets lost (internal compass a bit off) this you will love this.If your Man is like me we are always getting lost, buy this for your self and pretend its to complicated an most men like me will rescue you and set it up, your man will never get

Cons: Speaker a bit hard to understand at high noise levels. If you have a pick up truck with loud exhaust buy one with the blue tooth GPS option. I didn't want blue tooth due to crossovers tech just makes it harder to use also blue tooth after 4 hours needs to fly out the window. Battery always dies on blue-tooth just when you need it not too.

Other Thoughts: Best to have the tech in the house do the updating & set up on line first.

Other Thoughts: Glad i bought it when i did, the bundle is a steal for the price, could not find it anywhere else cheaper than on newegg.
