5 out of 5 eggsGood unit at a great price

Pros: Recertified, it's a great price for a garmin.
Seems pretty fast.
Easy to put custom icons in via USB.
You get a downloadable map software update, so don't worry about having old maps on last year's model.
Comes with a garmin "ball" bracket so you can mount it to whatever.

Cons: Traffic data comes from cig. lighter cable/antenna, so you must have it plugged in if using traffic data.
Does not come with the mini-B 5 pin-type USB cable needed to connect to computer.
The newer model garmins are thinner and more iPhone-sized.
Always displays the Agree / WARNING notice on power-up.
Wish it had a setting to disable the automatic zoom level adjustments.

Other Thoughts: I had a devil of a time finding a decently priced adapter so I could re-use my ProClip angled vehicle mount. I really wish garmin (or some OEM) made a plastic clip for mounting that didn't use the garmin ball. Having an angled bracket, an AMPS adapter/garmin ball extension, the garmin ball clip, and then the garmin seems excessive.

4 out of 5 eggsLike it, once I got it working after dealing with Garmin tech support

Pros: It works well for the most part. It gets me where I need to go and it is easy enough to use.

Cons: Touch screen isn't the most accurate, but good enough. When I got it it said that there were no maps loaded. Determined to fix it I finally gave in and called tech support and someone there walked me through fixing it and getting it working. Price was really good for this unit.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value!

Pros: Easy to use, much nicer interface than my 3 yr old Nuvi 650 whose touch screen stopped working. Much thinner and sleeker. Was able to use my old Garmin beanbag dash mount. Great display with loud speaker. Like the 3D map much better. The first day of use the Lifetime Traffic warned us of a delay on the freeway and came up with a work around solution within seconds. Like the pedestrian mode too.

Cons: none so far. My kids would have liked to have seen more options on the car icon choices that they saw on the TomTom models on display at Costco

Other Thoughts: A few fingerprints on the protective plastic screen cover but otherwise looks like an unused unit. I was going to wait for the Black Thursday Thanksgiving specials to see if there were better deals to be had, but really felt like I needed it asap and am really happy with the special $99 price even after seeing some of the newer deals.

2 out of 5 eggsvery good, until it was stolen

Pros: traffic was great. i was amazed how it knew exactly where bad traffic was, and took me down routes I never even knew about despite driving down that was 20 years. very thin and slick, and the CPU seems pretty fast compared to older garmins.

Cons: too easy to steal. that's the only reason i give it only 2 stars. this is the 2nd garmin I've had stolen. but my next GPS I buy will again be a garmin.

2 out of 5 eggsbasic navigation works great, but...

Pros: Easy to use, great for getting you from point a to point b. Has a lot of neat features, like live traffic updates, current speed and speed limit for the road you are on. You can also program the route based on time, distance or economy.

Cons: No computer USB cable provided.
No manual provided, you must download and print one.
The battery is not user replaceable, you must send the unit back to the factory for battery replacement.
The live traffic update is worse than useless- keeps directing me into the worst traffic pile-ups and indicates there is a problem where there is none.
The map updates is extremely cumbersome- The actual download only took 10 hours on DSL, but the Garmin update software has a lot of bugs in it and kept dying prior to and after the download.
You can order the update disk for an additional $10.00, but why- You still need DSL to download the updates.

Other Thoughts: The basic operation of getting you to a location you are unfamiliar with works great. Most of the other features are of questionable value. If I where to buy a GPS again, I would get a cheaper unit with out all the 'non-working' features (probably a different brand).

5 out of 5 eggsthe--best

Pros: It works very well, the traffic feature helps a lot too. Before i had a navigon that just stop receiving signal one day, I am not sure how that was possible but this GARMIN is not giving me any problems and I had it for about 3 months now.

Cons: None
