5 out of 5 eggsBest GPS I've owned so far!

Pros: Great size, live traffic works where I live, lifetime updates included, priced relatively well amongst competition, improved mounting bracket over my last Garmin.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: This GPS does a great job at getting you around accurately and quickly, and warns you of upcoming traffic congestion with enough time to avoid it!

5 out of 5 eggsOne great Garmin!

Pros: Big display screen, lifetime maps and traffic included, expandable, Bluetooth capable, tons of features for the price

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from an old 2.5" nuvi that needed map upgrades 3 years ago! This is definitely a HUGE improvement over the old one!! I love the size of the display on this model, plus the traffic feature is helpful where I live (Denver, CO) since we do have FM traffic in the area. I have not tried the voice navigation feature, but I am glad to have it since our government wants to ban the use of "touchscreens" in cars!! All-in-all, this unit is a great value and I expect this one will last me until they come out with the next generation of GPS!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well, little expensive

Pros: Easy to use interface.
Accurate maps and directions.

Cons: Expensive for what it is, considering the same tech is in every smart phone now.
Map updates take a long time if you're on sub-par broadband (like DSL).
Garmin Express software is a little cumbersome.
- If you want a male voice you have to go to the Device tab, then the Advanced sub tab, then scroll through the giant list and check Voice - English Jack, then click Install, then you won't see any progress until you go back to the main tab.

Other Thoughts: If you notice the voice navigation is a little too soft (loud car, hard of hearing, etc) go to the volume and tap the settings for it on the left side. You can disable auto adjust and increase the navigation voice volume (which is defaulted to 70%).

5 out of 5 eggsGood...But

Pros: Excellent voice recognition, clear intersection views, big screen, good spoken directions with street names.

Cons: Bricked within six weeks; no reset, no screen, no USB connectivity, no functionality. Returned for new unit which so far works as intended.

Other Thoughts: A big step up from earlier Nuvi series, which themselves had high functionality for the price. When it works, it works well.

3 out of 5 eggsTraffic on "Second Generation" version is terrible

Pros: 5" Screen
Excellent Maps

Cons: Traffic rendering is terrible.

Other Thoughts: Bottom line up front:

Would I recommend the Garmin nüvi® 2595LMT to anyone? No

This is the 4th Garmin vehicle GPS I have owned over the past decade or so. 2 of my older units are still in use every day by two of my adult kids, and I added this one recently for my second vehicle (my primary vehicle has onboard navigation).

What I have:

~ Garmin nüvi® 2595LMT - Second Generation (that is an important distinction I will mention below)
* My other Garmin vehicle GPS units still in use are the nüvi® 265WT and the nüvi® 2350LMT.

Why I bought this unit:

~ Brand: I have tried Magellans and TomToms, and hated both.
* I have found that Garmin products are both more reliable and user friendly than any other.
* Garmin's maps and routing program are better than the other brands I have tried.

~ Traffic: Having first experienced traffic information on my nüvi® 265WT I can't see not having the option, especially since I commute in the DC area

~ Up-to-date: I wanted the latest. It is a step below the 3500 series, but they are the same family...the more advanced merely adds a quicker traffic program. Other than that, they are identical.

~ 5" Screen: Bigger is better, especially since my eyes are starting to age a bit.

Why I wish I bought the 3500 series instead:

~ Traffic: On the nüvi® 2595LMT (second generation) the traffic feature is incredibly weak.

As I found out after RMA'ing the first one I received (more on shoddy customer support later) thinking that it was packed with the wrong vehicle charging cable, the unit I received is considered to be a "Second Generation" version of the model. When the new unit was received and what I thought to be the wrong cable was again all that was in the box, I provided Garmin support the serial number of the new unit (which was coincidentally the next one sequentially from the one I returned) and the response I got back was that the reason I did not receive a GTM cable was because, according to my serial number, my unit is a "Second Generation" unit which has the traffic receiver built into the unit.

A GTM cable, by the way, is that thick cable with the bulbous traffic antenna approximately 6" from the end you plug into the back of the unit. That traffic receiver sends the information from the transmitters scattered across the regions where traffic monitoring is available and sends it to the unit for processing and display on your GPS screen.

Well, the second generation 2595 has that receiver built into the body of the unit, and so no GTM cable is needed...just a regular vehicle charging cable.

That would be great, not having that bulky wire and receiver hanging from the back of the unit; however the quality of the traffic information presented on the screen is poor, at best. But...being sometimes scientifically minded, I decided to do a side-by-side test. Here's what I did:

~ I plugged in both my new 2595 and my older 2350 LMT into my vehicle with a pro

3 out of 5 eggsDo not buy for traffic info

Pros: GPS works very well. Voice command works very well. Easy to use.

Cons: Traffic info is really inaccurate, does not delineate traffic conditions on a road in different directions unless you zoom in REALLY far. Traffic map zoomed out does not show highway names/numbers. It is pretty much impossible to use for traffic.

Other Thoughts: I gave it 3 stars because it seemed quite good at its main function, gps. Unfortunately I was looking for traffic condition help. Do not get this unit for traffic. ALSO the volume levels of bluetooth phone calls were hard to hear at hiway speeds, yet the alarm beeps were quite loud.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent GPS unit

Pros: Big display
Good touch sensitivity (for a GPS)
Voice commands
Live traffic updates

Cons: Terribly low volume for Bluetooth paired phones

Other Thoughts: If you plan to use this device as a Bluetooth speaker for your phone, you should reconsider. There is no volume slider for paired devices, and the volume is just too low to use in any other situation than with a parked car.

Only defect I have found. Everything else is great.
