Pros: Recertified always is a win or lose proposition, but this little unit proved to be just fine and is working like new. I was also concerned that there might be a glitch with the "lifetime" maps as it relates to it being a recertified unit, but no issue there either. I immediately created a Garmin account and downloaded the most current software and maps. Just follow the directions and be patient through numerous reboots to get past all the incremental updates. Once done, it's good to go with fresh maps and firmware and working exactly as it should! Cons: Not really a con, but it took a while (15 minutes or so) to initially acquire satellite signal to properly re-establish the unit's location. But, it was a heavily overcast and windy day so there may have been natural interference creating the delay. No problems since. One true con/annoyance is that every time you power up you are required to accept English as the default language and accept the EULA. I have another later Garmin model that you only had to do that once, but this pops up every time I turn it on, and there seems no way to bypass it.
