Experience uniquely personal navigation from the elegantly slim nüvi 3790LMT. It comes with FREE lifetime maps and traffic and features a multi-touch glass display, nüRoute technology with trafficTrends and myTrends, voice-activated navigation, 3-D building and terrain view, lane assist with junction view, and hands-free calling compatibility.

  • newegg Includes Lifetime Map Updates and LifetimeTraffic Right out of the box, the nüvi 3790LMT comes bundled with nüMaps Lifetime. Which means you can download the newest map data when it becomes available — no monthly fees or maintenance costs — for the lifetime of your device. A combination power cable/traffic receiver in the box gives you traffic services for the life of your device. You’ll avoid traffic jams and keep moving when your nüvi alerts you and offers detours. No additional purchases are necessary — it’s 100% subscription-free traffic.
  • newegg Award-winning Design The new nüvi is less than 9 mm thick, about the same as a standard 2 pencil. It has a full glass 4.3" diagonal multi-touch display. Dual orientation capabilities allow you to use the nüvi 3790LMT either horizontally or vertically, fitting smartly in your hand when walking. Sleek design also disappears neatly into your pocket or purse. With a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, it’s ready to guide you by car or foot.
  • newegg Speak Commands nüvi 3790LMT not only tells you where to turn but listens to your spoken commands. With its innovative speech recognition, you can control nüvi with your voice — allowing you to keep both hands on the wheel. Simply wake up nüvi with a customizable voice command and begin speaking menu options that are clearly displayed on the screen. Tell nüvi “Find Address” and speak an address to start navigating.
  • newegg Know the Lane Before It’s Too Late No more guessing which lane you need to be in to make an upcoming turn. Lane assist with junction view guides you to the correct lane for an approaching turn or exit, making unfamiliar intersections and exits easy to navigate. It realistically displays road signs and junctions on your route along with arrows that indicate the proper lane for navigation.
  • newegg Turn-by-turn Directions & 3-D Buildings and Terrain nüvi 3790LMT has an intuitive interface that greets you with 2 simple questions: “Where To?” and “View Map.” Touch the color screen to easily look up addresses and services and get voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions that speak street names to your destination. It comes preloaded with detailed City Navigator NT street maps for the U.S., Canada and Mexico with nearly 6 million points of interest (POIs) including stores, restaurants, hotels, entertainment venues, gas stations and ATMs, and speed limits for most major roads in the U.S. and Europe. With 3-D building and terrain view, you’ll see representations of prominent buildings in many cities and map contours at low zoom levels, giving you a realistic perspective of the terrain. And with HotFix satellite prediction, nüvi calculates your position faster to get you there quicker.
  • newegg Go Beyond Navigation Also offered on nüvi 3790LMT are standard nüvi features that go beyond navigation. nüRoute technology offers trafficTrends and myTrends to better predict your estimated time of arrival and improve your routes. You can pair 3790LMT with optional cityXplorer maps to navigate big cities. EcoRoute calculates a more fuel-efficient route and tracks fuel usage. The 3790LMT includes many travel tools including JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. With its "Where Am I?" emergency locator, you always know your location - your exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and fuel stations. The 3790LMT also features Garmin Lock, an anti-theft feature, and is compatible with Garmin Garage where you can download custom voices and vehicles. Enhance your travel experience with optional plug-in microSD cards and Bluetooth wireless technology.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far it's great

Pros: Very slim, comes with a mini mount to a car dashboard, lifetime maps and traffic, also purchased a 2 year warranty just in case, basically got it for half the price of the original, the price and it being almost the recently updated Garmin makes this deal a huge steal even though refurbished(that's where the warranty comes in)

Cons: Had to put the brightest all the way up to see the screen when the sun light hits the gps(not really a con, but can drain battery usage)

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried to update the maps yet, not sure how long this will last,

5 out of 5 eggsAdditional Update

Pros: I upgraded my tech knowledge to level to High because I was able to really test this GPS device in Canada and right here in New York City . And I give it an A+
Quick response
Good battery life
Thin and compact, making it easy to carry around - I forgot to take the car charger component, so all I had was the device and a USB cord. Battery life was pretty decent for 40 minutes of driving. It used 1/2 the battery life for this amount of driving. And I was able to recharge the device with my phone adapter.

Cons: In Canada, it could take a few 30 seconds longer on a cloudy day to pick up a satellite signal.
Price: I think for a refurb, the price is not the best, so I suggest you shop around. Sadly, Newegg is not offering competitive deals anymore. Some Brick and mortar (like Be*tBb*Y) are putting out some excellent deals.

Other Thoughts: Overall, it has some nice feautures
Lifetime Map AND Traffic Updates
Red Light Camera Alerts - even for Ontario - Toronto Canada
I was able to test it in the Bronx and in Toronto;
Easy updates; download the software first to your laptop and install; then connect your Garmin device and proceed to update. This is the easiest way.

4 out of 5 eggsGood & Bad

Pros: Does everything it says it does. Fast, the tactile touch is extremely accurate and the device never "lags" or stalls. Overall great product, very impressed.

Cons: Three things I absolutely dislike about this product:

1. When driving long distances, if the sun hits the device for an extended period of time, the device overheats, shuts down and then can't be restarted (even at full battery power). Its almost as if, it needs to cool down first. Not sure if this just MY device or if this happens with others. I did find a news story on this, just google it before you buy.

2. The speaker function is absolutely awful. Its not loud enough to have conversations with people so whats the point of even having it then? Give me a louder speaker that would justify actually using the GPS to make / receive calls.

3. The voice activation thing turns on when no related word is spoken. Just suddenly popped on a few times.

Other Thoughts: Overall though it is a GREAT GPS device and worth the money. Highly recommended! Its not perfect but for the price, I couldn't be happier! :)

5 out of 5 eggsWhy Buy New?

Pros: Price - Sleek Styling - Features like Voice Command (works even with my Boston accent) - and a surprise with the warranty. Newegg listed a 90 day warranty but the literature that came packed with the refurbished unit list the warranty as "Newly overhauled 1-year warranty". I was able to register the Garmin and then update the firmware and maps with no problems.

Cons: It is a fingerprint magnet

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome

Pros: Good size and for the price you can't beat it
Lifetime traffic and maps are also a big plus

Cons: Wish battery life was longer
Garmin's updater is a little bit of a pain

Other Thoughts: When you first get this just go ahead and update the maps so you don't have to worry about it anymore.

I have never lost connection with this one and traffic updates would of saved me loads of time if I would of just done what it told.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent GPS

Pros: Excellent GPS - very thin, voice recognition actually works pretty well, screen is very bright. Got this for an unbelievably low price refurbished on a weekly deal. This is an exceptionally good GPS (it's Garmin's top of the line model from several years ago).

Cons: The lifetime maps do take a very long time to update (about 5 hours in my case). But, they work.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Device--like new

Pros: Great screen, thin, sexy, worked out of the box, lifetime map update registered unit without hassle. Comes with cords and windshield attachment. Looks and works like new. Nicccceeee hardware. This is the best of the 4 Garmins and 5 GPSs I have owned. When you buy from Newegg you get great support--the best.

Cons: Garmin 3790 is great hardware but they have issues with their site. Lifetime Map Update can take a lifetime to update your map. If it goes over 10 hours just start over. It will pick up close to where it gets stuck. There are several ways to update on their site. All are problematic but Lifetime Map Updater had the most problems. Read their forums. Don't give up--it will eventually update your map. When I called their phone support on the first unit rated above, I was on hold for 45 minutes and was given no information except "send it back to your retailer."

Other Thoughts: Had to RMA the first unit rated above. Newegg support was no hassle, very fast, no shipping charges--perfect! Why buy anywhere else? If I had received this unit first I would have rated 5 stars. Took one off for RMA and poor Garmin site integration. After reconsideration I will give 5 stars here to counteract my very negative first experience rating. I am very satisfied with the final result.

1 out of 5 eggsRefurbished but not functional

Pros: Boots up, nice looking screen, glass with capacitive touch, thin case, speaker in mount is louder than previous Garmins. My last two Garmin GPSs worked out of the box. Good price but cheaper elsewhere. Now relying on good Newegg service.

Cons: Cannot navigate out of the box. Says cannot unlock maps. Went to the Garmin site FAQ, learned software is out of date. Spent 2 hrs downloading and rebooting and downloading and rebooting many times. Boots slowly after update and no faster than my 1490 at finding satellites. Has only demo map on board. Cannot navigate. Garmin site says this model by serial number cannot download free maps, even though it is LMT on the box. You have to buy a map. Garmin service desk closes at 5pm Central and I am in CA.

Other Thoughts: A refurbished item should be tested before shipping. A GPS should have a map loaded and the latest software loaded. A product advertised as Lifetime free map updates should give you at least one functioning map. You may want a screen bigger than 4.3"
