Cons: Very out of date maps, costs money to update maps, what a scam. Freezes all the time, has trouble keeping up with your position, and my first one I had to exchange cause it got stuck and refused to find the satellite to update my position. Avoid this product

Rating: 5/5I like this Megellan!
Pros: This unit dose crazy things with low batteries) If freeze, it keeps looking for the satellite ,It keeps losing its location’) Once charged you can download all the maps and software upgrades. Very important if you have your computer set to go to sleep when its see no action you will have trouble. YOu must keep your computer from going to sleep, during the down load. Pros Great text to sound. Love the chime to tell you when to turn ITHE COST FOR A REFAB iS FANTASTIC -lOOK AND WORKS GREAT!
Cons: Not a con. Must read the manual to set it up for your trip!!
Other Thoughts: I had a Magellan 3000t but could not get map upgrade and I decided to try a Garmin. I didnt like it!! I returned the Garmin 1460 LMT because the voice was so harsh - that I felt it was nagging me. (IT DROVE ME CRAZY) Garmans are OK but once you have used a Magellan, you become spoiled - Magellan has the little extras to make it my choice for a Great GPS.

Rating: 2/5Magellan 2036
Pros: Seems to work fairly well.
Cons: Don't even try to access your "free upgrade." The web site takes you through a confusing, seemingly endless number of pages without a single reference to your "free upgrade." Lots of opportunities to buy upgrades.

Rating: 3/5so-so
Pros: Traffic Alert, Highway Exit Zoom, One Touch, Address Book
Cons: While on a long drive, batteries run out so I had to plug in the charger. Problem is, while plugged-in, I can no longer fully mount the GPS into its holder as the charger head gets in the way.
Also, even after downloading the complimentary map update, I noticed a few times the GPS declared I was already in my destination when in fact I was still about 200-300 meters away. This made it very confusing especially during the time when my destination was somewhere inside a residential area with short and winding roads, I had to look outside for the correct house number as it was really far off!

Rating: 1/5freezes/ touch screen problems
Pros: works great when it works, good stress reliever when i threw it and it shattered into pieces
Cons: touch screen kept malfunctioning...spent hours trying to reboot load updates and fix. I threw it out the window on the highway (I know I shouldn't litter), but at least I won't spend another angry minute with this device. I had a magellan before this one that I loved, but somebody stole it out of my car so I bought this one. I hated it. They tried to make it more user friendly but made it harder to use the options, and the last one I had was refurbished, maybe that is why I never had a problem with it, it was already fixed.

Rating: 5/5Quick, Capable, Affordable
Pros: Magellen Roadmate user-interface is very intuitive, easy to learn operation, "OneTouch" favorite destinations a great feature; This 2036-MU has their latest maps, ver. 41, that's what "MU" stands for (Map Update). I've read they've switched to TeleAtlas maps, from NavTeq....unit does not say inside. But I've got a Lowrance XOG GPS with NavTeq maps, and I see no superiority to either brand of map....ALL units, regardless whether they use TeleAtlas or NavTeq, will have some addresses they don't recognize, or some other quirk you just have to get used to, there's no perfect GPS, regardless of price or brand or map.
Cons: People with "Garmin Envy" who wish they "...should of (have) bought a Garmin..." The Garmins I checked out before buying this were no better, and seemed a bit slower (in this price range). Nothing wrong with Garmin....but this Magellan 2036-MU was a better deal.
Other Thoughts: One significant feature everyone should care about is the ability to back up your address book. If you have to reboot/reload the unit for some reason, such as un updated operating system download, you need a way to save your address book, unless you're willing to re-enter everything all over again. Some GPS units have removable memory card slots for this purpose. All Magellans can use their downloadable "Device Manager" software to back up your address book, so even their least expensive units not having a memory card slot (the 2036 does not) can back up the address book. Incredibly, the owner's manual to this 2036-MU fails to mention such a significant feature !??!

Rating: 1/5Horrible
Pros: When it works its great and have plenty of options.
Cons: A month later it started to freeze on the last location visited. It takes forever to refresh the signal and 9 out 10 times it will start giving you directions from the last place you were no matter where you are, or freeze altogether.Downloading an available update made it work good for about a week.
Other Thoughts: It feels stupid having a GPS on your car and having to stop to gas stations to get directions.

Rating: 5/5Excellent GPS
Pros: This is an excellent GPS and gives you traffic alerts, advance speech notice of upcoming turns. This GPS has an excellent screen and speech is very clear. Defines exactly what street you should be on even in a congested metropolitan area with many streets, one-ways, many lanes etc. You will know exactly where and what lane you need to be in. Very fast GPS reciever syncs up with the satellites within seconds. Also shows you in small window what street you are coming up and which one your driving on.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Originally had Garmin 265W but the satellite reciever was very slow to respond on finding location when turning on and route recalc. compared to Magellan 2036. Excellent GPS, but does not come with case bought a case for$9.99
