The TomTom ONE 130•S comes with pre-installed maps for the U.S. and Canada, and a large database of POI (Points of Interest) which helps you find necessities like food and gas, and fun stuff like shopping and attractions. The turn-by-turn voice directions speaks the street names, to help you find your destination without having to take you eyes off the road. With a built-in traffic sensor and an “Avoid Roadblock” feature that lets you re-route around construction or other slow-downs, you can avoid burning gas unnecessarily while sitting in traffic. The TomTom ONE 130•S brings you everything you need to stay on time and out of traffic in one pocket-sized package!
Pros: Just got back from a trip. Super-cool-compact. online update available, easy setup. Reads clear and loud, must select computer voice though! With human voices TTS not working! Buy this for mere $50 more, enjoy ease of navigation with tts.
Cons: Text-to-speech (tts) reads loud four names of a local highway, which is long and annoying. I'd really love to hear only one name. At least sound can be easily muted.
Other Thoughts: The red night-colors map matches my car interior lights. I have a feeling it makes some people get off my way when it's lit on my windshield ;) Trying to speak on my bluetooth car-speakers-mic-system, TTS kind of interrupts conversation but hey, this is not part of the car system.. as radar detector isn't either.

Great little unit
Reviewed By: tms1521 on 9/11/2008
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Very easy to use. MapShare technology is priceless. It is accurate 99% of the time and the speaker is very loud, so you can have your tunes one and still her it. The volume adjusts to the speed of your auto.
Cons: The new compact mount is a pain of the tail sometimes.
Other Thoughts: I think TomTom should introduce an alternative dash mount that would be similar to the the new collapseable mount included. The only other alternative is the ugly Bracketron bean bag alternative that just uglies your dash.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: It is a great GPS system that is easily programmable to remember frequent locations. It also makes driving much more enjoyable and stress-free.
Cons: It is a target for theives.
Other Thoughts: My car window was busted out and the previous unit stolen. It costs more to replace a window than it does to replace the unit. Don't make the same mistake I did. Put the GPS away so that it cannot be seen when you leave your car. I hope you all have better luck holding on to them than I did!

Great GPS - you get what you pay for
Reviewed By: on 8/13/2009
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Ultra cheap ($68 after MIR), speaks street name, very intuitive, easy to use, limited but sufficient functionalities. Menus are simple a finite, you don’t get lost in them, not many sub sub sub.... menus, does its job well. I read in some review that the volume was too low, but I didn’t find any problem in that area, I am using it at 60% volume and it’s enough, any louder it too loud, but I do have a sedan with sound sealant package, I am not using it in a truck. Screen brightness in sufficient too, in a mid day 102 degrees sunshine I didn’t have any problem seeing it and again the brightness was set at 80%, it was away from direct sunlight though.
Cons: Didn’t like the address finding feature, it’s not as progressive as some devices. POI, not sure if I am doing something wrong but it can only find very few places, you better go on the web and download the direction to you GPS. Speaker is pretty flimsy and gives a cheap output which destroys/vibrates at high volumes. Internal memory is just 1 GB and no expansion slot, mine came with just 38MB of free space, cannot load much of any other apps or voices or icons... you know... the fun stuff. Compared to a new unit - No free map updates, Only 6 months "limited" warranty, cannot return to the retailer/etailer you bought from, if something goes wrong you just have their tech support.
Other Thoughts: (Refurb) Just got it, used it for 2 days, so far so good... Its must 1st GPS so I am really enjoying it, nothing to compare it to besides some in rental cars and friend's cars. My thoughts are based on my expectations and experience with other electronic gadgets. I must add that I am getting old and loosing the patience and aptitude to play around with the new generation gadgets.
