The TomTom ONE 3rd gives you brilliant basic GPS navigation, plus some really helpful advanced features to make your day on the road easier! You can choose fastest or shortest route, bicycle or walking route, or limited speed routing to avoid freeways. You can even tell the TomTom ONE 3rd what time you need to arrive at your destination, and choose your route accordingly. The ONE 3rd mounts quickly to your windshield with a simple heavy-duty suction cup mount, which is included.
The TomTom ONE 3rd comes with pre-installed maps for the U.S. and Canada, and a large database of POI (Points of Interest) which helps you find necessities like food and gas, and fun stuff like shopping and attractions. The turn-by-turn voice directions help you find your destination without having to take you eyes off the road. With support for an optional traffic sensor (sold separately), and an “Avoid Roadblock” feature that lets you re-route around construction or other slow-downs, you can avoid burning gas unnecessarily while sitting in traffic. The TomTom ONE 3rd brings you everything you need to stay on time and out of traffic in one pocket-sized package!

Great GPS for the price
- Pros: I researched the GPS market for almost a month before making a purchase. This refurbished TomTom works absolutely amazing. It's a decent size and I can see it clearly when mounted on my dash. It gets very loud for the hearing impaired. Easy installation. Very easy to add voices and maps. Usually takes only seconds to configure a route that is within 10 miles. The LCD is crystal clear and the graphics are pretty good considering it is a lower end model. There are turn by turn audio announcements that are clear and very easy to understand. The unit features a POI (Point of Interest) system which lets you search for nearby locations. Looking for fast food? (Lets say you want Wendy's) Just go to the POI near current location and type in Wendys and it will locate any Wendy's in the area. It also has a function that can list all restaurants, shopping centers, etc that are in the area.
- Cons: The suction cup mount does not work very well at all. I often find myself enjoying a drive and the unit will just fall off and hit the floor. Not the greatest thing to happen to your investment... Sometimes while on the road you might want to change a setting which isn't the easiest to do due to the limited setup of buttons.
- Other Thoughts: I give this product a 5/5 due to the amount of quality you get for such a low price. If you are looking for a cheap solution and you don't need all the extra features like Bluetooth, MP3, and Expandable Memory I would highly recommend this model. It does everything a GPS was created to do. The bottom line is, for the price, it's a steal.
Good, Basic GPS Unit
- Pros: Easy to use, good road coverage, loud and clear directions, decent operation speed, one free map update. The TomTom software lets you operate the unit from your computer. This makes initial set up of favorite places very quick since you can use the computer keyboard rather than the touch screen on the unit.
- Cons: No wall charger included - only charges through the USB connection with the computer. The map update can be a little tricky. See comments below.
- Other Thoughts: I've used this unit for a couple months and been happy with it. I may order another one for my parents. The only real issue I had was that the free map update failed (looked like an incomplete file download), and I had to transfer the map files to the unit by hand. Luckily it shows up as a USB drive on the PC.
You can avoid this issue by first backing up the unit to your computer using the TomTom software. If something goes wrong, then you can then simply restore the original software and try again.

Works great!
- Pros: Works great for an entry level GPS which is what I wanted. Cheap and gets you where you want to go ,for under $80.
- Cons: Suction cup mount is lousy, but I intended to get the dash mount I bought for it anyhow, so no big deal.
Without a Doubt the Best Value
- Pros: This unit is without a doubt the best value on the market. TomTom has the simpliest easy to follow menus that make the thing easy and enjoyable to use right out of the box. No need to read a manual for this one. It is easy to enter an address and it give good directions. When you plug it into the USB port on your computer (which is important to do to get map and other updates) it automatically checks and asks if you would like to install the software. There are no CDs, they cleverly put the software on the device itself! I also found that the suction cup for mounting it on the windshield would pop off, the solution is to wet the edge of the cup before pressing it on the window. and yes, they do not include a dedicated carger, but it has a standard mini usb jack like the majority of mobile phones have today and so i use my mobile phone chager (or i just use the included cigarette car charge when in the car - and i use the car charger to charge my mobile phone too!).
- Cons: it dosen't have 'text to speach' that fancier units have, which means it only says 'turn right in 100 feet' instead of 'turn right on main street in 100 feet' but i do not miss this feature. once you get into the rythem of the thing there is no need for the names of the streets to be announced... they are on the screen if you realy needed them.
- Other Thoughts: i don't review things here often as i discovered the hard way that newegg censors constructive critism. but this product is so good that i thought i would take the time to write. do what you want with it newegg.
great deal for the $$$
- Pros: Like others said it works right outta da box... Easy to use, easier than my dad's garmin I borrowed last summer.
- Cons: the "free" map update download offer is expired. I think TomTom should have to make it good, but don't know who to contact.
- Other Thoughts: I've seen others complain about the windshield suction cup not working well.. Apparently you guys didn't clean the windshield or dampen the suction cup cause after I mounted mine I can't get it loose unless I pull on the release tab.
