1 out of 5 eggsStay away!!!

Pros: Map Updates
Lane Assist
Big Screen

Cons: This unit has the most unfriendly user experience. It has all the features, but I wonder who designed it? The map display is outright UGLY! It feels as if this is the technology of 90s. It's just hard to read the map!

"Helpful" hints are annoying if not dangerous -- for example after asking for an address why ask me every time what time I want to arrive at destination?

To cancel a route you have to make 4-5 clicks through the menus just to get to the "cancel trip" option. That's very annoying.

It's slow to acquire satellites.

Voice recognition is useless. I have some accent, but other devices with voice recognition actually understand me. With this one I just couldn't make a connection.

To summarize - it has all the features you'd expect on paper, but in practice they made it so complicated that you'll be hardly using them, even when needed. You'd be better off not owning one than owning this unit.

Other Thoughts: My unit was refurbished. I'm not sure whether this was a problem with my specific unit or not, but sometimes the unit would act upon false touches. Nobody would touch it, but it would start spontaneously going through menus as if someone is touching the screen. I returned my unit to Newegg and they sent me another one which turned out to have exactly the same problem. This problem renders the unit completely useless as it goes from the map/navigation screen to some other screen while driving.

5 out of 5 eggsnice units

Pros: great price, voice recognition works good if there is no ambient noise, got free latest maps, very user friendly.

Cons: Battery doesn't last long. doesn't bother us because we keep them plugged in.

Other Thoughts: I own a limo business, bought 3 of these, all work great, so much easier talking the addresses than typing them.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best

Pros: This can't be much of a review. All I can say is that it works and it works better than my Garmin ever did.

Cons: I can't think of any. Oh yeah. One con - No GPS thingy is perfect. A friend of mine says that her TomTom has an attitude.

Other Thoughts: This is my second TomTom GPS. Re-certified units come with updated maps and a free map upgrade. Don't use your map upgrade right away. Save it. If you're new to GPS Units, turn you unit's direction talk back thingy down to a very low volume. It's confusing sometimes.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Very fast re-routing if you go off-course. POI menu is easily to navigate and has a TON of free downloads from users and businesses. Fan is extremely quiet. Help options are very detailed and I have already customized my startup screen and car icon with homemade images. Bluetooth is very useful as I keep my phone in my pocket while driving. The itinerary function is very useful for trips out on the town. I tested it today, got gas, then washed my car, then ate, then went home. After reaching each destination it switched to the next without issue.

Also, I was able to receive a map update with the "latest map guarantee" even though some reviewers have not been able to; I am guessing this is hit and miss.

I am overall pleased with the functionality and TomTom interface on the GPS and on my computer.

I have used GPSs without GPS quick fix before and they can take some time to get enough satellites, no problems with the quick fix so far, great reception!

Cons: Voice input for street names can be difficult while driving, the mic reception seems prone to wind and street interference when trying to input with the windows down. Pairing my phone to the unit was error prone until I got my first set of updates from TomTom Home. It still has a tendency to pop up the "connected to phone" icon after I have already established a link. Destinations from POIs do not tell you which side of the street it is on, this is not a big problem, but it seems an easy one to remedy with odds on one side of the street and evens on the other.

Other Thoughts: My house is on the corner of three streets so while at home my routes vary between starting on one of them.

You can hook up the unit to your stereo system if you have an audio in port. However, the unit would not play music from my phone, this one only seems to have Ipod features built in.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's been pretty good, no major issues and the price is right. I really like the voice address input, much more accurate than any phone system I have ever called into. It makes it easy and safe to input address while driving.

Cons: The battery life isn't very good, not sure if this is due to ir being refurbished or not.

Other Thoughts: Good buy, not the fanciest GPS on the market, but it's cheap. Good value.

2 out of 5 eggsBasic GPS

Pros: Easy setup, includes "most" streets and roads but not all.

Cons: Bluetooth setup for cell phone works when it wants to, and doesn't for days. Poor support.

2 out of 5 eggsFalse advertising

Pros: Good turn by turn with text to speech GPS functions. Accurate maps. Easy updates with TomTom Home software.

Cons: Do not buy it for any of the other features other than the GPS function. Silly me thought that the other features made this a great buy. The bluetooth handsfree feature is practically unusable. You'll get in an accident while trying to navigate the menus. I've never gotten the voice input to work while I'm driving (I'm assuming due to road noise). The built-in speaker is so quiet even at 100% volume that it to is unusable. The advertised media player capabilities simply don't exist. It's just an iPod USB interface. Not it's own independent media player. Why on earth would I want to hook my iPod up to my GPS and my GPS to my stereo and remote control my iPod through the GPS??? That's just baffling.

Other Thoughts: If I would have known all these shortfalls in advance, I would have never bought this GPS. The menu system is inferior to other GPSs I have used. My 3 year old $80 Mio GPS has a better GUI than this abomination. I cannot recommend this device to anyone that is looking for anything more than a very basic GPS with turn by turn TTS navigation.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat GPS

Pros: Updates quickly, user friendly, nice big screen, cant live without it.

Cons: Since it was a year old the maps were kind of out of date in a few areas I drove in recently, and the button to clear your route is very out of the way when trying to focus on the road.

Other Thoughts: Overall awesome product for the money!
