Other Thoughts: After years of using another brand I switched to Tom Tom. Quite possibly the biggest mistake I ever made. I should have checked their forums first because all the problems I'm having seems like others are having too. The maps are the worst. Just in my area alone I see many roads on the maps the don't don't exist and since the Mapshare option seems to be only a myth they remain bad. I am so disappointed in this product I'm considering tossing it out and chalking the loss up to experience. It really should be against the law have such a bad product and so much misrepresentation in the marketing of it.

Rating: 5/5A Great Working Unit - Nice Big Screen
Pros: Very intuitive. Plug up an AC adapter and spend some time in the house learning the TomTom. Miss your turn and the unit instantly recalculates. Lots of preferences to be set on routing. Easy to see the screen day or night. TomTom Home (web) easy to use.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: No problem with the windshield mount. Beware of bogus reviews here and at Am-a-XXn.

Rating: 2/5Tomtom dumb dumb
Pros: Occasionally works.
Cons: Where to start? The menus all have about 3 second lag, which is horrible when it is every time you select a letter of an address. It doesn't tell you which side of the road destination is on, which kinda matters on a 4 lane rd. in a busy town with much traffic. The IQ ROUTES IS A FREAKING JOKE!! That IQ JUNK has taken me over freakin mountains and bluffs with only enough room for 1 car and so steep it almost stalled my 5spd. cavalier in 2nd gear! Once I went up a dirt road that was so weathered I had to turn around. I doubt a 4 wheeler could have done that one. I've had to stop and ask for directions multiple times. (KINDA DEFEATS THE PURPOSE THERE HUH?) The first one I had messed up and tomtom had to replace due to internal memory died. Reading 0 out of 0 MB free in Windows and couldn't format or update anything. Finally with the new unit I turned IQ Routes off and it finally started taking me the way I would go normally, for the most part, but not always the best route.
Other Thoughts: Other thoughts? Instead of leaving a long winded review and getting so worked up over it I'll just buy something else asap! I use this for business and I can't afford to get lost or take a freaking mountain climb for no reason. This was my first gps and my last tomtom. Also did not buy this from Newegg. I got mine from Amaz on. Newegg always rocks!

Pros: Big screen
Cons: Cannot update maps. Paid nearly $100 for the entire set of European maps. Got only UK and some of the Western Europe. The internal memory will not allow to have both, US and Europe, so I had to erase the US/Canada and now have to pay to get them back. What a ripoff! The customer service is less than nothing, so I have to try and dispute the charge through my CC company. ...and, of course, it's made in China.

Rating: 4/5Good Device
Pros: It" a good device for the price and the screen size, never go wrong, plus the lane assistant guide, awesome, it tells you were you supposed to go.. I Love it
Cons: One thing, you have to purchase the other map if you want to add on your devise, hope that someday TOMTOM will make it standard...
Other Thoughts: For someone looking for GPS you never go wrong...

Rating: 3/5Well, be warned on the transaction fee
Pros: Ok to use. Clear on route. Warning bells good when you need to turn.
Cons: I wish there was more detail on when I need to turn. Depending on your bank, you may need to pay a foreign transaction fee for updates because TomTom claims they are from the USA but they charge you from the Netherlands. IN fact, the invoice that they bill you is from the USA and not from the Netherlands. This is as of May 10, 2010 so they may change their policy but you may never know because TomTom does not inform anyone on when they charge from the Netherlands or from the USA.
Other Thoughts: I am probably going to buy another GPS after the updates expire which is in another 15 months. I will sell the GPS afterwards to someone else. Never TomTom again.

Pros: Large screen, loud speaker, IQ Routing is a nice feature, lane assistance, maps are pretty accurate, but navigation is another story... This could be a VERY good GPS, if TomTom could just get it right...
Cons: Where do I begin... The windshield mount is a joke and isnt secure. It just pops right off if you need to adjust the unit once it is mounted. I was actually nervous that it would pop off while driving if I hit a good bump.
Computer Voice - The pronunciation of street names are pretty bad. Its like it was programmed to say street names super fast in an attempt to sound as accurate as possible... failed.
3D Maps - Never showed me the exit signs the way it shows it on NewEggs product image... not once.
POI - Horrible menu structure. It is very difficult to find what you need when you need it. It takes too much time to go through the menu and search for a specific POI.
Navigation - Youd have better luck with a blind person as your co-pilot... 3 times I entered a POI while en route to a destination and 3 times the GPS acted like it had alzheimers. When I got to the end of the route my POI was nowhere to be found. Entering the destination a 2nd time while stopped did the trick.
Other Thoughts: This is the first GPS that actually gets you lost and has you asking people for directions. In this case GPS means "Gotta Pit Stop"... This is my first TomTom and it was horrible. Out the box I used it to go down the block and around the corner about a mile away from my home... It wanted to take me down a street that I didnt have to go down and then along the avenue where I would have hit lights, instead of just driving down the street and making a left... This was a sign of what was to come and so I decided to do the map update which took 30-40 minutes... This unit is just a XXL waste of money. Stay away!
After my Garmin 360 started to become dated after purchasing it in 2006 I decided I would try TomTom... what a mistake. Now Im going back to Garmin. Off to RMA TomTom goes.

Pros: I'll preface with this is my first GPS unit other than my AT&T Tilt 2 phone. Large screen. So easy to see even while navigating traffic. Satellite aquisition is quick. Turn on and by the time I leace the drive it's locked and loaded. Everyone complains about the menus, but I don't have a problem with it and appreciate the function and abilities of the device. The Cartman voice I downloaded is SSSWWWEEETTT!!! The mount has proven trouble free and seems very sturdy.
Cons: The location of the USB plug is very cumbersome. It is on the bottom between the screen and the mount. Not good and requires a 90 degree USB head. While included, it makes replacements pricey. I hate that it shows a POI and I can't click on it to see what it is. Seems very counterproductive to show 20 fast food joints and while it knows what they are, it won't tell you.
Other Thoughts: I'm dleighted with my purchase. I do recommend this GPS unit and I bought a TOM TOM becuase it was on sale and their jingle is so darn good.

Pros: Big touch screen Voices are nice;able to download nice celebrity voices (Mr. T woot) Finds satellites easily after a cold boot.
Cons: Same GPS problems. Told me to go down a one way street, the opposite way. As of 2/24/10 Best Buy has it for cheaper at 150 dollars.
