This review is from: TomTom GO 2535TM 5.0" GPS Navigation w/ Lifetime Traffic & Map Updates
Pros: Big bright easy to read screen. Lifetime traffic and maps. The magnetic window mount is very nice. Displays current time, ETE, ETA, distance to destination, current speed, current speed limit, all at the same time.
Good clear callouts of turns, when using the default voice.
The unexpected feature is how well the bluetooth speaker phone works. It even reads your phone book from your phone.
Map Share is a cool feature, that has never worked in Oregon since I first bought a TomTom many years ago. I hear it works some places.
Cons: No 'compass' or altitude display. Uses yet another weird cable instead of a mini USB. The MyTomTom web app is a mess.
The map autoscale shows not very far ahead when at highway speeds, and no way to adjust. At any speed it shows fewer streets ahead than any other GPS.
Does not show your favorites on the map unless they are the destination. No way to set waypoints on your route.
It has my cell phone address book, but is unable to read the addresses in there.
No way to adjust how fast you are over the speed limit before alerting you.
Speech recognition can be very annoying.
There is an annoying spinning wheel on the screen at all times telling me I have no traffic service. Duh, I live in the desert. No way to turn it off.
Can only update using Windows or OS X, no Linux support.
Other Thoughts: I still much prefer my last GPS, a Navigon, but those are no longer sold or supported in the USA. After testing all GPS brands for sale today this seems the best, even if somewhat flawed. Way better than any car maps I can get on my Android phone or Android tablet.
