In response to SD card advise
- Pros: None
- Cons: Can not play music from SD card(Confirmed with Pioneer), the description in the NewEgg is incorrect
- Other Thoughts: As I noted in my review, this UNIT does not support Playback from SD card. It is not issue with reading the SD card.( Check the other famous electronic website Editor notes). I have uploaded splash screen images, POIs, customer colors using SD card, of course it is formatted using as FAT32.
There is no option to select SD card as source to playback anything.
SD card can only be used fo AVIC Feeds and POIs. This has been explicitly disabled by Pioneer to force user to go for higherend device.
Advice
- Pros: This is for anyone that is trying to get the SD card to work for MP3's. I can only assume that this is the same situation as when connected my exernal drive to the USB on my pioneer deck. It wouldnt work on the external drive but would work on a USB thumb drive. As it turns out the head unit cannot read NTFS partitions. So maybe if you format the SD card with a Fat32 partition it should work. I also tried an 80gb hard drive formatted with a non-windows utlity and it would not read either. So it has to be 32gb or less Fat32 to read. Hope this helps!
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Read the Pros
Value but lot of issues
- Pros: Name Brand Double DIN NAV for less than $500
Neatly integrates into Dash. Audio Quality is OK.
- Cons: Looks like lot of folks jumped the gun in writing review without even waiting for week to experience the issues.
SD Card: The desc from NewEgg about able to playback Audio from SD card is incorrect. SD card can only be used for POIs, AVIC Feeds, stats. AVIC Feeds for customer created POIs explicity restricted to only 100, that mean even you want to load all Gas stations(5k+) you can only load 100? GAS stations and Restaurants are removed explicitly from POIs. So it is GPS which can not find a GAS station or Restaurant. GPS has random issue with placing somewhere unknown places with full signal, onlyway dock and undock while driving? Bluetooth pretty much hangs on daily basic, it is even worst with Phone book sync. Nav screen does not show cross street details, so cities it is problematic. iPOD screen layout/list is useless esp for listings. The whole screen only shows 3 lines total? Supplied Microphone is pretty bad, I had to replace with Garmin Mic(though it is only $15).
- Other Thoughts: Overall, I would not have bought this unit if I knew all these issues. This unit is inferior in everyway even if you consider price. The Bluetooth module itself 1.3 version( no A2DP support and quality is not good). The GPS not high sensitivity model like higher end models, and does not integrate with Speedo-meter and does not have Gyro sensor like most indash units. So moment you GPS signal is weak it does not know where you are.
And weird thing is, the Phone Dialer, you can not use keypad once call is dialed( Like selecting Menu options using keypad) or There is not even a mute?? To even mute you have to pull your phone. This became a big issue for me when I had to dial into meetings while travelling, atleast please provide mute.
Anyways, I am hoping it will provide some guidance to who wants to Buy indash NAV. BTW check avic411 forums, there are some tips on how to make it usable.
