Alpine's PND-K3msn enhances your navigation experience on the road by delivering useful information like traffic and weather updates into the car, allowing you to make more informed decisions to get to your destinations quickly and accurately.
With the PND-K3msn, you will receive a free three-month subscription to MSN Direct’s continuously updated Smart Traffic information, weather reports, gas prices, movie times, news and alerts, local event information and stock prices (some services available only in select cities where coverage exists). In addition to the extra convenience of MSN Direct, the PND-K3msn’s innovative OnPoint Advanced GPS Positioning ensures the moving vehicle stays accurately positioned on the map even in areas where it’s difficult to receive GPS reception, such as in a tunnel, around tall buildings or under heavy foliage.
The PND-K3msn is designed for use in a vehicle. Although a battery is built-in to the unit, its primary purpose is to prevent from premature shutdown while the system is writing to memory, for instance when saving destinations to the address book, saving the last known GPS position, or writing system settings. The battery also helps to greatly enhance system boot-up times. The PND-K3msn is not designed as a handheld GPS or pedestrian navigation system and should not be used as such.

Who cares about MSN direct ending in two years???
- Pros: bluetooth, msn direct,

- Other Thoughts: Since the other ignorant baffoons who reviewed this GPS have no idea what they are talking about, I will shed some light on this unit. 1. It is a brand new model, not 2004. 2. It has many of the same features that the more expensive models have including lane assist and where am I. 3. It is a very good unit for the price!!4. Alpine is a good brand and has excellent customer service. 5. WHO CARES ABOUT MSN DIRECT GOING AWAY IN TWO YEARS???? WINDOWS XP was supposed to have lost support two years ago, but is still kicking!!

- Pros: I've just ordered this unit from Newegg, actually, two of them. MSN going away in two years is not an issue. Most GPS units time out by then anyway.(update availability).Price and user friendly features are an issue and these seem to have the right stuff.
- Cons: Don't know yet but I will surely re-review if need be.
- Other Thoughts: Before ordering, I took the time to call Alpine customer support. This is the best advice anyone can use..Great customer service dept. Very helpful and informative. This is a current production unit with the most current maps available, provide by Mapteq, the leader in this field.

- Pros: For it's actual price, this GPS unit is definitely feature rich. I have it run through my car stereo by utilizing the head phone jack. I love that my MP3's can play during travel and then the unit seemlessly lowers the volume and initiates verbal instructions. Also, by using the blue tooth function, my incoming calls are routed directly through the GPS unit (and therefore through my car stereo). The person I'm speaking to comes in LOUD and clear, and if for some reason it's not loud enough, just turn up the car stereo speakers.
- Cons: The dock sometimes has considerable trouble linking to MSN direct. I don't use the feature often, so the problem isn't dramatic. Also, once in a while the unit freezes. The freeze is usually associated with some type of change occuring with the MP3 playback function. But sometimes it spontaneous just fails. I use the unit every time I turn on my car to listen to music, and for (roughly) the two months that I've owned the unit, I've used the reset button 3 times. Surprising, although it says its the "factory" reset button, all your programmed choices return, and unit performs as expected again.
- Other Thoughts: I have reason to believe that a firmware update would probably solve all my problems. Since I've recieve the unit (which was roughly two months ago) I've plugged the unit into the computer twice to check for possible undates. None have been found.
Good Stuff
- Pros: Very attractive menus and interface.
- Cons: Power cord is rather large, speaker isn't the loudest or clearest for phone calls

- Pros: Very responsive touch. Excellent menu system. The MSN data connection is great. I would give this unit 5 stars except that the MSN service is being shutdown, which is the best reason to get this unit.
- Cons: Sometimes the unit will delay for a few seconds while driving.
