1 out of 5 eggsDissappointed

Pros: nice size - color is great - works well with videos on Netflix.

Cons: Definitely not a tablet to play games on. Found out after purchasing it that there is a problem with recharging the battery..It doesn't hold a charge. Now, does not recharge at all. After looking online, this is a common problem with this Vizio tablet. Also, does not come apart easily to fix. Snaps together and needs to be pried apart to open.

Other Thoughts: I have owned other Vizio products that were great. Very disappointed with this one. Probably give this to my son to rip apart.

5 out of 5 eggsA fix for charging port.

Pros: I bought 2 refurbished vtabs. I noticed that micro USB cable was not sitting properly in the tab port (the metal connector was not going in all the way and was moving from side to side too much). I read a lot of reviews about bad charging port and was worried that I would end up in same situation. What I did to avoid this issue was - I bought a half inch hard plastic washer at home depot, sliced about 2 millimeter piece from it and cut it in half. Cut it so that it would sit around the top part of metal connector (top part meaning - facing same way as the screen) and glued it to the plastic part of the connector (be careful so the glue does not leak inside the connector and wait until it fully dries up). This way I made the metal connector shorter so it would sit snuggly against the tab and also made the plastic part of it wider to prevent the connector from moving too much from side to side. I have the tabs for a year now without problems. Vizio could have added tons more happy customers if they made this minor adjustment to the USB cable. By-the-way - the tabs are of great quality otherwise and I definitely recommend them to all who don't want to spend too much money and still want to get a very good quality tab.

Cons: I feel that Vizio should have shown more action in resolving charging port problem. It appears that minor re-design of USB cable could have made a big difference for alot of frustrated users.

2 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: I bought this for its price, been shopping with NewEgg for years so I felt covered if something went wrong seeing as this is a Refurb

Cons: Something went wrong, no touch input out of the box, Vizio were helpful troubleshooting this and agreed to pay for shipping for a replacement, they made the experience as painless as possible..

Other Thoughts: Was annoyed that the Egg wanted me to pay for shipping back to them for a DOA item.

I will update this once I get a fully functioning one back from Vizio in 15 business days...

3 out of 5 eggsAlmost a year

Pros: I bought two units for my daughters' (Age 10 and 7)Christmas gifts last year. For the price, this tablet has fairly good performance, and both, when working, have performed well with any app they have tried, as well as a few movies and shows on Netflix. The graphic quality is also decent.
Sturdy: The deal that I got near the end of last year included a nice "leather" case, so with that included, it has withstood their abuse. The same cannot be said for my iPad 2.

Cons: Neither unit is charger friendly. I have experienced the same types of problems with a few cell phones, but after a few years of use, not new out of the box. I realize that as these are refurb's, they aren't exactly new, but I would think that was an integral part they would refurbish. You have to get just the right charger, at just the right angle, for them to charge effectively. Sometimes the charge lights will come on, and will soon show full bars, but will die within a few minutes. Even with a good, full charge, the battery life does not impress. One of the transformers fell apart a few months ago. Nothing a little tape can't fix, but disappointing nonetheless. My youngest daughters tablet has the worst charging port, and crashes all the time. I believe three times this year I have had to completely reset the unit after we were able to get it charged. There is a possibility it would be more, but I think she has given up on using it at all.

Other Thoughts: As these are going on sale again, I thought I should submit my review for anyone considering this purchase. For a first tablet, these were sufficient, and I wish Vizio would build a newer unit with the same durability and modern performance. As it stands, I am shopping for another brand for each of them this Christmas, and will pass the better working one to my 3 year old. The current price of just under three figures is a little high. If it dropped another $20-30, I might consider these for a beginner tablet. Even so, as they are only available as refurbs, and the technology is becoming more outdated, it would still be difficult. If these dropped to $50, I would have no problem with a recommendation and feel it is worth rolling the dice. Any more than that and I suggest shopping for other units.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price!

Pros: The price was right - 98 dollars - from Newegg.
I don't compare one pad to another. I try to keep an open mind as to what I want the tablet for and how I'll use it.
This tablet is responsive and has no problem connecting to WiFi hot spots or networks. It does have a "use button" connect feature which came in handy at my home since I have a 128 bit encrypted password on my network, (D-Link). At other hot spots around town I just tap the network connect button and I'm online. I've not had a problem connecting yet.
I use the tablet for gathering info when I'm out and it's also been used to find music - the speaker system is pretty good for a unit this size.
I downloaded a couple of games to try - Angry Birds for one - The graphics were good and the game played without hesitation.
Searching photos on Pinterest was o.k. as well. Graphics intense sites were also accessed and the unit responded smartly.
YouTube - No problem at all with any video playback.
Saving to the gallery was simple and recalling photos was no problem. I also have a Sandisk 32gb card in the unit for storage.
I haven't gotten to all the features yet but so far I really like this 8" tablet.
It's doing what I want it to do:
Gather info for research, photos, music, e-mail, YouTube, and a couple of mind numbing games to relax me.

Cons: I haven't found any yet except that Amazn Prime, which I have, won't work - Some other reviewer said Netflix does work so choose your poison and enjoy. I don't think Android and Amazn like each other that much ;~). Maybe in the future. But hey, that's not why I bought the pad.

Other Thoughts: This was a refurbished unit at a price I could not pass up - I received it in excellent shape - Thanks Newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad

Pros: The Size of this Tablet is perfect I think.
I installed Launcher Pro which allows many options. You can set backgrounds through Quickpic and several other options.
I find this is perfect as a E reader and the WiFi is flawless 99% of the time.
I enjoy it very much for the price.

Cons: I wish a lot more Android apps worked on this.
Setting a Background is a pain, getting the resolution right is interesting.

Other Thoughts: This Tablet needed some more work..but its decent.

1 out of 5 eggsVIZIO DOA

Pros: I love NEWEGG I buy everything from here. I don't think they can help me because I bought this for xmas 2 months ago.

Cons: So I ordered this for xmas for my 8yr old daughter. Her smile on her face made it totally worth ordering. Until we tried to use it the first time. The screen looked like colored snow so we powered it off. Now it will not power on at all. Some xmas gift this was. Now she has to wait on VIZIO becuase I ordered it at the beginning of November so the 30 day warranty is out. I guess I should have powered it up and double checked it when I got it.

Other Thoughts: I just hope VIZIO's customer support doesn't suck!

5 out of 5 eggsThe blue collar ipad

Pros: I got mine on Craigs list for a one time unbelievable $100 from a kid that needed the money. I'm an old fart tech geek, and I'm impressed. So impressed I'm looking to buy my gal pal one as soon as I can find one in the store or at Newegg. Around here (DEC 2) they are sold out. I added SD chip, a nice leather case and bought the HDMI cable and a cigar lighter plug. On a 4 hour car trip it banged out an audio book into a FM radio adapter while it sat on the dash. I think it has GPS in it because it knew where I was. It moves from portrait to landscape mode flawlessly. Every app I've tried so far works just fine. I had a 10" ASUS netbook and it's now belongs to my buddy's wife. I have also started a music playlist and run other apps and saw/heard no hickups in either.

Cons: I've cruised the forums regarding the tablet and the biggest complaint is that it does not run the latest version of ANDROID O/S. but to me that reminds me of running XP when Vista came out.
There is a concern and a desire about "rooting" and VIZIO's next update release.

Other Thoughts: I'm an old fart, so you kids listen to someones grandfather.. when I was your age there was 3 TV channels and they were in black and white. Its not an ipad. It's 1/3 the cost and does 80% of what the ipad does. It does not have the prestige of an APPLE ipad, but I'm not an arrogant apple junkie living on my trust fund and protesting on wall street. 1/3 the cost for 80% of the use, translates to blue collar VALUE. My point is a Apple Ipod should be $279.99 if you see one at that price buy it else the VIZIO.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the wait

Pros: Price. Build. Vizio quality. Simplicity. 8 inch screen. Battery life. Infrared remote for home studio, real GPS (!) This as a good tablet for someone who has been waiting for a quality Android powered inexpensive tablet. Evidently 2.3 is more stable than 3.0, with updates from Vizio as they happen. I use it for portability, as opposed to a laptop. Email, FB etc., it is really handy. Fits readily in my Harley bags and streams well. 10.1 flash on board. VIA seems slow at first, then you get a rhythm and the pace is good. Adjusting touch sensitivity makes it fly... turning off animations helps too. Very happy with the purchase....highly recommended.

Cons: Most smart phones do everything this does, some more, but not on an 8 inch screen. When everything is considered, the price, etc., I have none.

Other Thoughts: It is what it is supposed to be, at a good price. To gig it for not being something it was NOT supposed to be would be missing the point and the value.... Nice handy gadget for many applications. Won't replace my gamer desktop, or my all purpose laptop. But the convenience factor is amazing.....

5 out of 5 eggsBest Buy for the money

Pros: Fast for a non dual core processor. The device itself is solid as a rock. I have not had it lock up or flake out on me once. I was able to pick this baby up a few weeks ago for 189.00 after someone on the spiceworks forums pointed it out to me, and not only was it a great deal, they were throwing in a free case that day. Oh yeah. The touchscreen is always precise and responsive. I graphics are unbelievable, I installed contract killer: Zombies, and I must say, this thing is on par with my xbox 360! I know it doesn't have a 3G built in, but I have a clear hotspot device I carry in my backpack so that isn't a problem for me.
The sound is amazing, you can rock out to some Guns and Roses, or if you are into that emo stuff, I suppose my chemical romance would sound as decent as possible, for that kind of music.

All in all, how can you go wrong for the price unless it was a total piece!

Cons: No rear facing camera.
