2 out of 5 eggsRebate? Wheres the invoice?

Pros: Tablet is actually not a bad tablet for what it is. Basically a glorified MP3 player with a few perks and access to wi-fi if you need it.

Cons: Biggest problem I have with this is that I have never received my rebate and when I went to look up my invoice under Neweggs acct info this entire transaction was not there. How can I get my rebate if the transaction is not there. Contacted Newegg and they would not even address the missing transaction. Don't bother with any of these Curtis klu tablets if you are planning on collecting on the rebate. You probably wont see it.

Other Thoughts: I have made probably upwards of a hundred purchases from Newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value after Firmware Issue Fix

Pros: + Faster then you would guess
+ Easy Flash Drive Upgrade
+ Cheap Price
+ HDMI, USB, USB Micro
+ Built to last
+ Not a bad first Gen

Cons: + Touch screen is built well and it makes the stylist a little off
+ Didn't work with Google Android apps
+ Flash took forever to fix(I hate flash)
+ Firmware needed a complete overhaul

Other Thoughts: This early model is a deprecated one, but for a market dominated by Apple, Samsung and Nook controlling the market. It is nice to see this Curtis Klu do alright with the lack backing. I just got the next model up for cheap.

1 out of 5 eggsBetter as a paper weight.

Pros: None.

Cons: First one was replaced because it turned itself on and off, which burned through the battery. It was freaky how it would suddenly turn on, then off, and a few minutes later repeat, with no outside interference.
The second one had similar issues. It got to the point that it was more a waste of time and not worth anything.

5 out of 5 eggsPoor out of box, firmware fixed

Pros: The tablet functions great. After I installed the firmware update from curtis, i could get google play and everything after that was good.

Cons: Out the box, this tablet has some major drawbacks. Make sure you download the firmware upgrade.

2 out of 5 eggsKlu tablet hopeless

Pros: Works for internet browsing, checking emails, and youtube

Cons: This device was discontinued for a reason. A shoddy os, no support, and a bad app market handicap any capable computer user from doing anything he/she wants to do on this tablet. The device looks and feels nice, but you need to use external flash to get any vids on it as it is practically impossible to get a flash player on this device. Also, you have to shut the device down any time you want to use it again, unless you carry the charger around. I guess its another hardware issue Curtis didn't fix before scrapping the tablet.

Other Thoughts: If anyone got google play market to work on this thing, please write it in the review section.

5 out of 5 eggsThis Tablet Rocks!

Pros: Do you want to save $500 on a tablet? Get this tablet.

This tablet serves you well. It increase your productivity and you can play games too. Watch YouTube, check email and install hundreds of apps from the Android Market. If that's all you need then this device is perfect. It's not slow but very reponsive as well.

Remeber to install the new firmware! (how-to below)

Cons: You gotta install the firmware upgrade yourself. This is important because this device does not come with the Andorid Market app before the upgrade. Imagine you buy a new laptop and you cannot install software nor games... enough said.

Other Thoughts: First go there to download the firmware (zip file)
http://www.curtisint.com/web/browser.asp?productID=LT7028&catName=

Firmware upgrade steps:
1. Disable all the antivirus software before upgrading firmware.
2. Turn off the MID unit( this means, power off your tablet), hold the ESC button and inserting into PC with a cable at the same time.
3. Release the ESC button and then the pop up window to ask for stalling USB driver.
4. Open the set up file “rk281x ” in folder RK281x USB Driver for USB driver installation.( choose the file in different operation system: XP/ Vista/Win 7)
5. Open RKAndroidBatchUpgrade.exe in folder MD703_2818 v1.24.
6. Open the file MD703_2818 V1.23\Image\update.img under setting and then press Upgrade.
7. It will be processing a few minute for firmware upgrading.

2 out of 5 eggspoor firmware/found fix

Pros: cheap price

Cons: there was a really poor software load on the unit received. the machine was buggy and froze regularly. there was no android market so instllalling new apps was problematic, youtube would crash. i discovered the manufacturer Curtis international does have free firmware image on their support site. curtisint.com under support/ downloads/ tablets After loading it is a much more usable device. it restores the android marketplace and fixes most of the buggy behavior. it is still a slow tablet but is what i expected for the price. i am much happier with it now.

3 out of 5 eggsOkay...

Pros: Cheap. Affordable. Low price. Other choices cost more.
For a resistive screen, pretty responsive to finger touch/press. Comes with a stylus.
After an update, the Market is indeed there as others have said. But... see cons.

Cons: Firmware loaded is pretty bad. But, as others have mentioned you need to go to the Curtis website and download the update (see Other). The instructions are pretty awful. If you're somewhat windows saavy, you'll be okay.
The Market... And Android 2.1 (Eclair). So - you may be familiar with google's new Play Store. Eclair isn't compatible with the Play Store, as near as I can tell. That means a TON of apps won't be available. Still... seems like you could do basic web browsing, e-mail, maybe facebook, and I think youtube. No Netflix. Doesn't show up when you search for it. No Angry Birds (I'm not sure it would run or not anyway).
If Curtis would release a 2.2 update, then I think it would help with getting "more" out of the Market (at least for a little bit longer).

Other Thoughts: Track ball doesn't seem that useful to me... but I haven't had it that long.

Update process short version.... you get a zip file and expand it. Then you turn off the "MID" (your tablet), and plug it in to your computer through USB while holding the ESC key. Getting the driver right in Windows 7 was a little clunky, I had to use the device manager to get Windows to ask me where I wanted it to get a driver. Then, you run a program from the zip file, point it to an update.img file that also came out of the zip file, and after a few minutes the update is done! I'd charge a bit before doing the update - I stupidly did it at like a 5% charge and then realized that wasn't very smart.

I will come back and review some more after I spend a little bit more time with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the money!

Pros: Great little entry level tablet! I have an iPad, but I wanted an Android tablet to see what I was missing. I bought this on special from Newegg, and it is a blast. It is not an iPad, so don't expect one. You will probably have to do a firmware update to get the Google Market, but it is pretty straight forward from the Curtis website. There are plenty of great apps that work well with this tablet, and if an app doesn't work, just uninstall it and find something else. It comes with a stylus and a trackball which are a plus. It feels substantial and not cheap.

Cons: Little slow for some games, doesn't have a capacitive touchscreen

Other Thoughts: You can't go wrong for the price. It does everything I need it to do and I am happy with my purchase.
