5 out of 5 eggsBaseband Version

Pros: Great tablet for the money HDMi out , Wifi N, USB in, rooted, best of mid range market tablets!

Cons: Be carefull to pay attention to the previous Gingerbread Baseband version number to ensure upgrade to ICS is for your model version listed on skytex download site for the release to market version for Alpha2. Stop using beta ASAP and upgrade ! :-)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for price

Pros: For ~$130 you simply will not find a better ICS 7" tablet. It's responsive, display is nice, it's easy to load Google Play or Amaz** Apps as no jail breaking is required. And it works. There is enough power and memory on board to accomplish most anything you might want to do. Even 3D racing games play well on this. And HDMI output means you can steam to your HDTV. Strong aluminum back .. not plastic. Their customer support is great, responsive, and helpful. Try finding that ANYWHERE these days while spending so little money.

Cons: Don't buy for the camera. If you're interested in a decent camera you've come to the wrong place. The G-Sense capability isn't really strong. No bluetooth support. Battery is only good for about 4 hours working time.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for the kids so they could have all the experience of using a nice Android tablet without me fretting about loosing $500+ when it gets broken. Thankfully, even with the youngest user of 4 it has held up very well. They enjoy it and mom uses it for video streaming and news. For $130 it's definitely a win. You'll need to be a little savvy if you want to load Google Play since they don't make it easy to get .. which is Google's mistake in my opinion .. but loading Amaz** apps and Kindle app is cake.

5 out of 5 eggsthe best tablet under $170

Pros: This is the best ( Android 2.3 ) 7" Android tablets in the American Market imported by American based Company . This is a Chinese Tablet made in Shenzhen China . unlike those plastic junks.. this tab can stand up against the best Android 2.3 tablets. Very Nice Screen for Android games/Movies.. the tablet has 6 hours battery life with wifi on for watching free p2p DVD MOVIES ( I use PPTV from Android 1Market) - also you can easily use a cheap USB-external Battery Pac like the $30. PEBBLE-VEHO i used for 24 hours oversea trip from NYC to Hongkong . ..very fast connect to the wireless N network ( is time for you to upgrade your wireless N network ) from the Slow moving wireless B/G Box.... Screen protector can be ordered online.. the protector case you can use the GEL case/Standdng case from the samsung GalaxzyTab/Kiddle Fire..

Cons: who care about ICS Android 4.0.beta !....Google has great Apps for their super Smartphones Right Now Android 2.3 we just haveto wait for google to support "REAL TABLET APPS" are you happy with The Snowcomb Apps? ...only the fools will try to flash this tab with BUGS from ICS 4.xxxx update ....There is nothing wrong with this Tab's runing on Android 2.3 ...My tablet is just as fast and good like my toshiba thrive 32-gb with 3g costed over $500....I will not be the FOOL to FLASH My OS Android 2.3 because is faster and better than Snowcomb/Icecream with this Tab with single 1gb Cpu and 512ram... because is just like Window Xp is faster than Vista/ Window 7 .

Other Thoughts: There are alots of Non-branded 7" Android 4.0.3 tablets internet online order just like the Skypad Alpha-2 for the same prices and lower ( the Same Tablet with the same Color).

4 out of 5 eggsSKYPAD ALPHA 2

Pros: New 4.0 ICS firmware for model 715A use (A) rev.1.0A this is important for hardware compatability issues. rev.1.0B would be for 715B model. Do not use other as it is not a latest indicator A for A and B for B.(maybe why that guys apps crash on his unit) Final firmware is terrific ! Keyboard and full usb port and usb charging included, hdmi out is good.

Cons: wi-fi still a lil weak probably antenna related and chipset. No trouble 25 feet away still strong signal . Receiver / antenna is the real issue (will not pick up neighbors wi-fi 35' away)

Other Thoughts: For the money this is a good entry level device. All builds for all manufactuers of ICS tablets have app problems because many apps are machine specific builds and not ported to other hardware. The majority of apps in the mainstream work just fine with revisions addressing these builds being updated all the time. Software like vocabulary evolves!

3 out of 5 eggsGreat for kids!

Pros: Inexpensive
Rooted right out of the box
Capacitive Touch
Android ICS 4.0
Metal back/case

Cons: Bad camera placement / quality
No Google Play/Market in official ICS release

Other Thoughts: Cheap - Bought on sale for $130. Official release of Android 4.0 ICS is now available. Works good and is a great value. Comes with a decent graphics chip and the kids play all their favorite games on it. Poor camera placement but it serves no purpose for me anyway.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: None that I have found

Cons: Newegg needs a Zero egg class in the rating system and should not sell outright junk like this.Did not expect much at this price point but please! Terrible service as in NO response, works (kind of) when charger is plugged in but not on battery, like several others a lot of apps will not work at all, SD port does not work unless card is wedge with a business card. Upgrade of OS is not, just made it worse.Do not think of it as a camera as the photo's are horrible.
Lousy and intermittent wifi and NO customer support as you can see the manufacturer does not even reply on here.( at least other down scale suppliers like Rosewill do that)

Other Thoughts: In this case you do NOT get what you paid for, run do not walk away.

2 out of 5 eggsSeems like a bargain but it's not

Pros: Price
Upgradable to ICS 4.0 Beta

Cons: Very weak Wi-Fi antenna
Low quality camera (in a bad location)

Other Thoughts: Flashing to ICS Beta is easy but it is Beta (expect issues). I returned the device, will look for something else.

4 out of 5 eggsfor a beginner

Pros: Kids will love it and you can use it for teaching someone how to use a tablet who doesn't really have a tech bone in their body. Remember i said kids not teenagers or or adults that know what their doing. Other than that great tablet for what it's worth. it works for what the reason i bought it

Cons: adults and teenagers will be bored with this tablet no bluetooth or any advance features and battery life not so great.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad

Pros: Fair speed for what it is, all functions working as stated. Upgrade available to 4.0Beta. The unit seems solid enough, the weight is good and the screens sensitivity is good. This works great for me and does all I had expected it to.

Cons: As I said the upgrade to 4.0Beta is a pro... but I wish I hadn't. There are still too many bugs for them to get worked out of it. My recommendation is to NOT upgrade the os on this device, it ran better on 2.3. For some reason with 4.0Beta it lost the auto rotating feature of the display. The power button is in such a position that it is easily bumped.

Other Thoughts: A full size USB port would be nice, but the mini can be adapted. Would be nice to have the Bluetooth adapter.
Q to Skytex: Is there any way to flash this back to the 2.3 OS that was on it originally? I guess in time the 4.0Beta will get better, but I miss the auto rotate that worked with 2.3.
