Pretty good
- Pros: You can put any PDFs or TXT files you want in it without having to pay for every book in some stupid proprietary format. Small enough to easily fit in coat pocket, screen is clear and can orientate portrait or landscape. Can play MP3s so you can listen to Audiobooks or music. Can view pictures, though only in greyscale.
- Cons: Has problems with PDFs. Can't resize the fonts in PDFs. When I tried viewing one PDF in particular and tried to jump to a specific page, it would go back to the start screen each time. It was a 1200 page PDF and going forward one page at a time would be excruciating.
- Other Thoughts: This is probably the best there is right now. There is NO WAY I would buy a Kindle or a Sony eReader because those are locked down so you have to pay for everything. Probably we should all wait until someone makes a reader that can read at least PDFs, CHMs, HTML, MHTML, DOC, TXT, JPG, BMP, and allow you to load your own without ANY interference from the product manufacturer.
Great eBook reader for the price
- Pros: This is a great ebook reader for the price. Really great features to compete with the other readers
- Cheaper than competition ($199 at Newegg) - Display is not eInk so page turning is smooth - Buttons are laid out well - mp3 capability for audio books - can display pictures in several formats - supported with firmware upgrades - long battery life - zoom features
- Cons: - Smaller screen than competitors (1" smaller) but big enough for normal ebook reading. I use it for reading technical pdf files so I have to read them in landscape mode so it's not the best for these type of files but adequate.
- Currently only supports txt, pdf, fb2 for ebooks. Supposedly will support .lit, .epub, html, and mobipocket with the next firmware upgrade in 1Q 2009. - SD card only goes to 2 GB. Currently does not support SDHC for more capacity - No wireless capability hence the lower price - No touchscreen hence the lower price
- Other Thoughts: This is my first dedicated eBook reader. I've been using my computer, laptop, pda and now just the iphone for ebook reading. I've been doing a lot of research on these readers so I did my homework before taking the plunge. The lower cost is what sold me on this. So far I've enjoyed reading with this.

Very Good e-book reader
- Pros: Small and easy to carry with your notebook and to stick it into your pocket when boarding an airplane.
It is perfect for reading text and mobi formats.
- Cons: PDF is hard to read if the page size is larger than a regular book would be (has to be smaller than A4 or the fonts will be tiny).
- Other Thoughts: It does not support DRM-enabled e-books, but the work around is easy and hassle-free, so I can read my bought ebooks in it.
I am happy with the product.
Not there yet
- Pros: This unit, while it does what it says, is an ok text reader. If you have keen vision. It's battery life is good and the text font is good quality.
- Cons: If you have reading glasses, its overall size makes it hard to read. While it handles text ok, PDFs and other formats take a long time to load and don't always look good on the screen. While it says it can handle 2gig SD cards, I had problems with it handling 1 gig SD cards. It would not read one 1-gig card and would lockup using a second type of 1-gig SD card. I finally used an older 265M SD card which seemed to work ok. The unit also had to be re-set on several occasions when I loaded a large PDF file. Regarding PDF files, at times the unit could not display PDF files properly, even if you used the horizontal position vs. the vertical position. Overall, the unit is not really an overall great e-reader. It still needs some work.
jetbook - great unit, fantastic price
- Pros: price, interface, ease of use, no DRM, comes loaded with many classics.
- Cons: the side page turn slider is somewhat clunky, can't specify page size, ie, no 150% between 100 and 200 (not a big deal except on a few docs so far). Can't add own personalized folders in the main books screen, can only do it within the pre-made folders. Small-ish memory with a lot of pdf's loaded. None of these are deal killers at all though.
- Other Thoughts: This is a fantastic unit, especially for the price. I was on the fence about getting an e-reader of any brand because of the prices. Once I saw this price drop, I jumped on it. All formats work well on the screen. The previous review who said that PDF's don't work at all, ever, is completely incorrect; possibly s/he is reading technical manuals that don't lend themselves to sizing. I mean, there's a "fit to page" option! I have already loaded about 50 books, all pdfs, and have browsed most of them - they all fit perfectly on the screen, some with no adjustment, some with a click or two.
I was afraid the screen would be too small, but for me it's more comfortable than holding a regular book, especially a large one. It's thin, and the carrying case is padded and tight, so the unit won't slide out.
I love this thing already, and it will definitely get me through until the technology fully matures, especially at this great price.
