A large, high-resolution LED-backlit IPS display, an incredibly responsive Multi-Touch screen and an amazingly powerful Apple-designed chip. All in a design that’s thin and light enough to take anywhere. iPad isn’t just the best device of its kind. It’s a whole new kind of device.
Available in a Wi-Fi model for fast cellular network access, iPad allows you to browse the web pages, read & write emails, view photos or watch videos on Youtube just with a tap, whisk and flick of your fingertip. Right now you can discover over a thousand apps on the App Store made just for iPad — with more coming every day. And if that’s not enough, you can also run almost 200,000 iPhone apps. The street view, satellite view, or new terrain view using Google services helps you find your location easily and precisely. You can create great-looking presentations, documents, and spreadsheets with iWork, all using just your fingers.
Come join the iPad revolution today!
Wi-Fi Connectivity With built-in 802.11n, iPad takes advantage of the fastest Wi-Fi networks. It automatically locates available Wi-Fi networks, which you can join with a few taps and get a fast connection for surfing the web, downloading email or getting directions.
LED-Backlit IPS Display The high-resolution, 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS display on iPad is remarkably crisp and vivid, which makes it perfect for web browsing, watching movies or viewing photos. With iPad, there is no up or down. It’s designed to show off your content in portrait or landscape orientation with every turn. And because it uses a display technology called IPS (in-plane switching), it has a wide, 178° viewing angle. So you can hold it almost any way you want and still get a brilliant picture, with excellent color and contrast.
Multi-touch The Multi-Touch screen on iPad is based on the same revolutionary technology on iPhone. But the technology has been completely re-engineered for the larger iPad surface, making it extremely precise and responsive. So whether you’re zooming in on a map, flicking through your photos or deleting an email, iPad responds with incredible accuracy. And it does just what you want it to.
Performance The A4 chip inside iPad was custom-designed by Apple engineers to be extremely powerful yet extremely power efficient. The performance is unlike anything you’ve ever seen on a touch-based device, which makes iPad fantastic for everything from productivity apps to games. At the same time, the A4 chip is so power efficient that it helps iPad get up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge.
iBooks Download the iBooks app free from the App Store and download your favorite books and they appear on your bookshelf. You can start reading right away. Unlike a paper book — or ebooks on other devices — you can change iBooks on iPad to suit the way you read. Turn iPad to portrait to view a single page. Or view two pages at once by rotating to landscape. Change the text size. Even change the font.
Accessibility iPad comes standard with accessibility featuring VoiceOver, a screen reader that speaks 21 languages and works with all of the applications built on iPad, along with Mono Audio, Closed Captioning, White on Black, and other innovative universal access features. All these features make iPad easier to use for people who have a vision impairment, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have a physical or learning disability.
Pros: Assuming this is a refurb since it's first gen.
Cons: Not seeing any information about warranty - does it have one, is it from Apple or Newegg, how long is the warranty, etc. etc. etc.?

Rating: 4/5Original iPad
Pros: I looked long and hard at all the iPad alternatives before settling on this model. Why not iPad2? Well, I already have a smartphone and didn't want to pony up for another data plan and didn't need the GPS feature; for my needs this model suits me fine. Everything just works well and feels right out of the box. The speaker is remarkably clear and loud for a such a small port and iTunes sound fantastic and easy to use. Well designed and made; no fan, no heat, no fuss and battery really lasts a long time, about 8 hrs. with music blasting.
Cons: It would have been nice to have a SD card slot but it's not a deal breaker. No GPS and 3G but already knew that.
Other Thoughts: Unless you get this unit on sale like I did, it's better to pony up extra $50 and get the newer iPad 2. Apple controls the price of these things pretty tight, even when older models are downgraded price-wise. I've been a PC guy all my life but always admired Apple design and products even if I don't agree with everything they do. This is what the netbook should have been in first place. Compared to this thing, all netbooks feel clumsy and clunky.

Pros: Great deal
Cons: Should have limited the deal to one per address
Other Thoughts: Why in the world would you allow 5 to be purchased. The limit should have been 1 per address. I would have like to have had one.

Rating: 4/5Great device
Pros: It works.
Cons: No camera at all in the iPad 1.
The wi-fi only one (this one) doesn't have GPS. "wi-fi + 3g" does (even without a data plan) - see below
Other Thoughts: This unit appears to be only "wi-fi". It is not the "wi-fi + 3g". When I was initially looking around, I didn't plan to have a 3g data plan attached to it anyway, and have only used it with wi-fi - BUT: Be sure to search around as to the features for both, as I found that if you want to be able to use GPS you need the wifi + 3G version - NOT THIS ONE. If you don't care - not a big deal. Personally, I got the wi-fi+3g (without ever subscribing to any data plan) so that it has GPS capabilities. Apparently these are a part of the 3g chipset. Just a note.
On a side note, we've owned 2 iPods and now this. everything else has been PC.

Rating: 4/5Apple does it again
Pros: Too big to fit in my pockets. But it gets me noticed at places, and since I am a typical apple fan that means I thrive on attention to what I look like and could do, but don't.
Cons: It doesn't make phone calls, so I still have to carry my Iphone, but thats OK since I am such a apple ho that I love giving my money to them!!!!
Other Thoughts: If you want a device that is overpriced, underpowered, proprietary, lacking in features, but ascetically "pretty" you have you match!!!!!

Rating: 5/5better the slice bread
Pros: This is the best thing that i have in my selection of tech toys...i still love my computer however you cant take your computer to bed and still surf the net with your wireless internet connection
Cons: need more space like 180 gigs as i said 64 gigs fills fast when it comes to game, music and books...not to metion the pod casts
Other Thoughts: if you do not tend to fill half of the 64 gigs this unit is not for you...how ever if you have that much content this unit is great for long trips..i never cant get tired of this cause there is always something to listen to and or read on my ipad

Rating: 3/5Fun toy, but WAY overpriced
Pros: Beautiful screen. Netflix on this is outstanding if you have a decent internet connection. Games and apps are gorgeous. Immediate attention grabber (if you like that kind of thing). A lot of the news and business related apps are free (NYT, NPR, Etrade, Bloomberg etc...)
Cons: WAY overpriced for what you get. I was truly psyched when I got this as an award at work, but I am totally at a loss for why anyone would spend over $700 for this thing - even $500+ for the smaller one seems to be robbery to me. A decent laptop can do so much more for the same price. The majority of good apps for this cost more $$$. It's frustrating when you feel like you are buying something that is free on your laptop using a browser... Also, reading books on this thing is no good for more than 10 or 15 minutes. My eyes get tired of the backlighting and LCD. Kindle and Nook are way better for this (tried both). Lastly, my employer blocked all iOS devices from connecting to Exchange since the OS is "not secure enough yet". Ugh. And we are a 10,000 employee company...
Other Thoughts: Hoping iOS 4.2 in November adds some quality. The lack of Multitasking is a pain, looking forward to that. Also hoping the Samsung tablet will pull the price down and push apple to improve the OS.
3 stars for an overpriced toy.
