With the iPad Camera Connection Kit, it's incredibly easy to download photos from your digital camera to your iPad so you can view them on the gorgeous iPad display and share them with family and friends. The kit gives you two ways to import photos and videos from a digital camera: using your camera’s USB cable or directly from an SD card.

USB cable and SD card Connections The kit includes two connectors, each with a different interface. The Camera Connector features a USB interface. Just plug it into the dock connector port on your iPad, then attach your digital camera or iPhone using a USB cable (not included). You can also use the SD Card reader to import photos directly from your camera's SD card. Connect it to your iPad, then insert your digital camera's SD card into the slot.
Hassle-free Operation After you make the connection, your iPad automatically opens the Photos app, which lets you choose which pictures to import, then organizes the selected photos into albums. When you sync iPad to your PC or Mac, the photos on your iPad are added to your computer's photo library.

If you put a camera's memory card into the reader, the Ipad will recognize the pics and download them. The other connector is cool for downloading iphone pics to your ipad. Cons: So my title says it "works as advertised... literally" because the iPad will only recognize pictures on the memory card that are named using a digital camera's naming convention. The pictures HAVE to be named starting with a DSC or IMG or else the iPad won't see the files at all. This is a big hassle if you wanted to use the SD card reader to download pictures that do not start with IMG or DSC - for example I wanted to download all of my wedding photos which were renamed by our photographer. I had to go online to find a batch renaming tool that would put the names in the perfect format for download... This is pretty ridiculous if you ask me. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.
