Two cameras for FaceTime and HD video recording, the dual-core A5 chip, the same 10-hour battery life -- all in a thinner, lighter design. Now iPad is even more amazing. And even less like anything else.

  • newegg Thinner and Lighter Once you pick up iPad 2, it’ll be hard to put down. That’s the idea behind the all-new design. It’s 33 percent thinner and up to 15 percent lighter, so it feels even more comfortable in your hands. And it makes surfing the web, checking email, watching movies, and reading books so natural; you might even forget there’s incredible technology under your fingers.
  • newegg Dual-core A5 Chip Two powerful cores in one A5 chip mean iPad can do twice the work at once. You’ll notice the difference when you’re surfing the web, watching movies, making FaceTime video calls, gaming, and going from app to app to app. Multitasking is smoother, apps load faster, and everything just works better.
  • newegg Superfast Graphics With up to nine times the graphics performance, gameplay on iPad is even smoother and more realistic. And faster graphics help apps perform better — especially those with video. You’ll see it when you’re scrolling through your photo library, editing video with iMovie, and viewing animations in Keynote.
  • newegg Battery Life Keeps on Going Even with the new thinner and lighter design, iPad has the same amazing 10-hour battery life. That’s enough juice for one flight across the ocean, or one movie-watching all-nighter, or a week’s commute across town. The power-efficient A5 chip and iOS keep battery life from fading away, so you can get carried away.
  • newegg Two Cameras You’ll see two cameras on iPad — one on the front and one on the back. They may be tiny, but they’re a big deal. They’re designed for FaceTime video calling, and they work together so you can talk to your favorite people and see them smile and laugh back at you. The front camera puts you and your friend face-to-face. Switch to the back camera during your video call to share where you are, who you’re with, or what’s going on around you. When you’re not using FaceTime, let the back camera roll if you see something movie-worthy. It’s HD, so whatever you shoot is a mini-masterpiece. And you can take wacky snapshots in Photo Booth. It’s the most fun a face can have.
  • newegg iOS 4 iOS 4 is the operating system for iPad (along with iPhone and iPod touch). It lets you browse, read, and see everything just by touching the screen. It includes all the powerful, innovative, and fun built-in apps you use every day, many times a day. And it’s the platform on which more than 90,000 other amazing apps have been created for iPad. It’s highly secure, stable, and responsive, and it’s made to work seamlessly with the iPad hardware. iOS 4 is the reason no other device has yet come close to iPad.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Best Tablet

Pros: Very thin, Great screen, Long battery life, Proven iOS operating system, plus most apps are actually made for a tablet. Apple also is king of the Tablet market, along with having by far the most quality apps of any. Its also great for surfing in bed.

Cons: Price.

Other Thoughts: The negative comments posted here I can guarantee you are from Android fanboys who don't even own this tablet. All of the iPad tablets are what all other tablets try to be (and so far they never achieve).

I am not an Apple fanboy, but know from experience that their tablets have the most responsive screens. My battery always lasts at least 10 hours, and a huge majority of the apps made for it are actually designed for a tablet, unlike the Android apps, where rarely do you find an app that is designed for a tablet. Most of the Android apps are just phone apps.

You can get tv out in this tablet through a separate adapter they sell. Also the camera is decent, but really the only thing anyone would use a camera for on a tablet is Skype.

iOS is far better than any of the goofy Google named operating systems are.

As for flash, most of the reputable websites support html5 videos which work great with the iPad. I use my tablet every day when I'm not on the desktop.

5 out of 5 eggsiPad 2 Owner Happy

Pros: Excellent battery life (lasts all day for typical use), bright hi-res screen, quick snappy operation. Apple's integrated hardware-software and ease of operation is second to none. Email, iTunes, movies, photos, Syncs with iPhone and computer, rock stable operation, 100s of 1000s of apps (much more than just games), light and portable. Doesn't require battery draining Flash. It sells like popcorn because it is a great device, you can't stop using it.

Cons: Fairly expensive.

Other Thoughts: This device will become your next computer for nearly everything you do. Apple's devices last for years with trouble free operation - Their devices don't go obsolete for many years. When you consider all this, the price is well worth the investment. Lack of Flash is not a big negative. Both Adobe and Microsoft are moving away from Flash for mobile devices and going with html5, and virtually all major websites have already upgraded to having both Flash and html5.

5 out of 5 eggsThere is no more COMPLETE PACKAGE

Pros: Nothing comparable as a COMPLETE PACKAGE (screen, weight, battery, ease of use, applications, price, etc). Oh sure, some Android tablet might be a few bucks cheaper, or might have a wider screen (not necessarily a positive when you're going for a versatile aspect ratio), or slightly better hardware specs (which is also arguable when you consider how the software actually uses that hardware - iOS is VERY efficient). But, there's nothing even close as a whole package. Go buy that $69.95 Chinese tablet down at Big Lots and then tell everyone how long it took to by an iPad after the disappointment. It's funny how everyone laughed about how useless and irrelevant the iPad was when it originally came out, and predicted what a failure it would be. Now everyone's scrambling to copy it. How does that crow taste?

Cons: Well, no flash is a con, but that's nearing irrelevance (see below). The screen could be a bit higher resolution, but the pixels per inch are on par with anything out there. Oh, lastly, it's not being sold in a firesale as obsolete and dying like the playbook, with no support or ecosystem to back it up.

Other Thoughts: No flash? Hmmm... Won't be a disadvantage for much longer (not that it ever really was - mobile flash implementation is a disaster on any device). Adobe has quit developing mobile flash and is focusing on HTML5 - what Apple decided to do years ago. Better features on an Android device at a lower price? Really? Like what? The hundreds of thousands of apps designed for a tablet? Oh, wait... that's the iPad - and nowhere even remotely close on Android. As for the rest of the features - the graphics performance is twice that of comparable "Tegra 2" Android devices, and the graphics resolution is in a more versatile aspect ratio. You don't have to use the iPad in only a horizontal hold. Lets not forget all the accessories available and how tightly integrated everything is - it works - fast and easy. Btw, this is not coming from an "iSheep" or "fanboy" as you might say. I work on and own PCs (built by me) - not Macs. I just recognize reality when I see it.

2 out of 5 eggsBlah

Pros: The IPS and fingerprint resistant screen is a plus.

Cons: No Flash and offers nothing that Android devices already have. Better off getting a Motorola Xoom, which has a bigger screen w/ 1280x800 resolution and Flash! Also has expandable SD card support.

Other Thoughts: Not really worth it. Too expensive and doesn't offer anything that a cheaper Android device does. Only good if you want to be one of the iSheep.

Pros: Well designed for "button pushers" but too complex for the average user.

Cons: Poor support from Apple in terms of "how too do simple things". All you get is how to get Itune apps. An old Palm Tx and a simple kindle will do almost as much, a little slower of course.

Other Thoughts: Over priced for what you get.

5 out of 5 eggsApple gets it right

Pros: The iPad is thin, light, just feels like high quality, processes everything fast, touch screen works flawlessly and although it doesn't do Flash, it plays my Netflix, HBO2go, Crackle, & with no problems

Cons: no native support for Flash
