Cons: For all 'name brand' servers they require you to have drive carriers (extra) to install drives in the system. Most companies want you to buy their 'drive packages' which usually doubles, or triples the cost of normal drive. Even though you can install up to 8 drives, the installed RAID controller limits you to RAID 0,1, or 10. For better control they offer an additional RAID controller, extra. Other Thoughts: In these cases where they manufacture requires additional parts, such as drive carriers or their drive packages, you need to factor them into your overall cost of the server. Keep in mind that later down the line you will need to get additional drive (maybe) due to failure or expansion. I choose to purchase the carrier's separately and save money by using the drives that I know will handle the load that the server is going to be used for. I usually go with supermicro, but in this case it fit the bill exactly. (I forgot about the carriers - which is on me) Supermicro usually includes all hardware and software needed for any install - their servers have the longevity and great quality - I have been using them since the early 90s.
