4 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal on Sale

Pros: Expandable, easy to manage, great features, and during a sale, this is an amazing bargain. Probably the most expandability/versatility in a somewhat SFF box I've seen.

Cons: Single core. No hyperthreading or AMD equivalent, even. But still outperforms Atom-based boxes.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little Server/HTPC

Pros: Super deal! Got this for $150 shipped so there can be no complaints at all!

Quality build and components. PCI-e 16x, 4x, and 1x slots plus 1 PCI
Can sell the Sempron CPU!

Cons: No rails for slim OOD... I may have to email fujitsu because they show no part number
apparently this 880G chipset only has the SB710 so no native SATA 6g despite the 250GB SATA III drive

Power connectors are not standard on mobo

These are very minor cons and not worthy of a egg ding

Other Thoughts: I popped in an Opteron 3260HE (2.7ghz Quad core Bulldozer) 45w CPU and HD7750 and 16GB non-ECC memory. HSF only gets slightly warm. 250w PS is a quality OEM and is sufficient for this setup

Computer is quiet, fast, and running Windows 8 Pro. Just need the Media Center update and I'm ready to go.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Little Server

Pros: Very Quiet, runs cool. Has room for 4 3.5" max and 4 memory slots for up to 16GB. Will accept other AM3 based chips, be careful with cooling though. Cheap

Cons: Included 250GB hd is so small not useful for most uses. Drivers and instructions for using WHS 2011 requires some web searching to figure it out. No Raid Drivers Except for Server 2008 and Linux/Redhad.

Other Thoughts: Works great on WHS after finding drivers.
I updated CPU to AMD Athlon II X4 610e 2.4GHz Socket AM3 Quad-Core Desktop Processor. Still only uses 45W but 3x as fast. Updated Memory to 8gb and have 1TB + 2TB +2TB Harddisks. Running WHS 2011 and Plex Media Server Running throughout my house very well now. Running very cool and quiet.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little ESXi box

Pros: Cheap. Upgradeable, takes ECC memory, AM3+ socket CPU choices. AMD will give you the most bang for multi-core with VT-X capabilities for virtualization

Cons: Needs bigger PSU and more internal bays

Other Thoughts: Great little box. Best bang for the buck.

I got this as base which I quickly upgraded to a 6-core FX-6100, a second NIC, and 16GB of RAM.
It pretty much takes any AM3+ socket 95W CPU.

4 internal drive bays for 3.5" drives. 6 SATA ports (route the extra 2 for e-sata w/ proper mounting brackets).
You can probably get creative with 2.5" drives. With an internal USB dongle and an added Gigabit PCI card, this puppy runs
ESXi 5 with no problem. I am currently running 8 VMs (2 Windows 2003 and rest FreeBSD/CentOS) with room to spare for 3-4 more.

I got this when it was on sale for $140. I am seriously thinking of getting 2 more.

4 out of 5 eggsIt is a desktop

Pros: Quiet and low cost. Enough slots on the motherboard to add cards of low profile form factor. Two extra SATA cables are included with the server.

Cons: HD LED on the front panel does not work on mine; Newegg will charge over $30 shipping fee if I want to do exchange.

Only two HD drive bays with good air ventilation

Other Thoughts: The server is actually a small profile desktop without sound card.

Power consumption is at lower 40s watts for the stock configuration without heavy CPU usage.

Newegg's exchange policy sucks.

3 out of 5 eggsit's ok, but there are better deals

Pros: It has a solid, attractive case design, it is energy efficient, it holds 2 hard drives, RAID, ECC, and has a nice layout of the motherboard.
The memory slots are aligned properly with the airflow, as one would expect in any real server.
It is quiet enough.

Cons: It did not come with the stabilizers (feet) which it is supposed to have according to the instructions.
The Sempron CPU is slow and a single core is no longer sufficient for a modern server.
The drive access requires opening the case and there is no way to add drive cages.
I had to use a dental pick to unfasten the case clip.

Other Thoughts: Fujitsu makes big iron so I was surprised to find this server.
I put an upgraded the CPU in it, added more ECC memory, an optical drive, and larger drives in a RAID config. It's still not all that fast, but it is good enough. Energy efficiency is cut by replacing the Sempron.
Not much of a bargain after all of that.
In it's stock configuration, it would be ideal for Smoothwall.

4 out of 5 eggsNice little server

Pros: Quiet, solid, well made and well designed server with a good internal layout. Good cable management. Drives are easily installed. The 250GB Seagate drive is small-ish but fine for an OS install if you're going to have your data on a 2nd drive or RAID array. Features a DVI port but includes a VGA adapter. PS2 ports for legacy KVM switches.

Cons: Does not come with vertical mounting stands. Japanese-market only, according to the included documentation. Newegg's gallery does not show them which is accurate.

Installing a slim ODD requires a mounting bracket that is also not included. Why isn't it?

The single PCI-E x1 slot does not have a lot of room, blocked by the chipset heatsink. I was not able to install an Intel Gigabit CT adapter (N82E16833106033) that many people like to use in these builds. There are two other PCI-E slots that it'll work in, just not the x1 slot for this x1 card.

It complains at POST if you install memory that isn't on Fujitsu's approved list. There's no way to turn that off that I've found. The server seems to work normally otherwise.

The system seems to require two reboots whenever there is a hardware change or major BIOS settings change. It'll power up, POST, then shut itself down again. Another button-push will then allow it to come all the way up so it's not big deal.

Other Thoughts: The Sempron 145 is a good enough CPU for most things a server of this class would be used for. That said, an energy-efficient dual-core processor like an Athlon II X2 'e' series would be a great upgrade and seems to be supported by the motherboard.

Also, 2GB of RAM is just enough for a lot of things, but if you want more, then Newegg item N82E16820301101 is an exact match to the single 2GB DIMM that came in my server and works in dual channel mode perfectly. YMMV.

And if you want basic sound, item N82E16829128005 fits the bill nicely.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat server for WHS 2011

Pros: Small footprint, low noise. Fast enough to handle WHS 2011 after adding a external graphics card to free up all 2048 MB of RAM. Serves all my media files on my home network.

Cons: Can't find out where to by the vertical mounting brackets from Fujitsu.

Other Thoughts: Wish more people knew about this microserver.
