Still an excellent console
- Pros: This console is extremely cheap now, and still as good as ever. Less heating issues and apparently no more Red Ring of Death. With a product fail-rate of over 40%, I was wherry going into this purchase.
The game selection is excellent, and I have been playing the system about 5 hours everyday since I bought it. The controllers are lightweight and setup better than the PS3 dual shock controllers for FPS games. Who wants the analog sticks side-by-side anyway? These are probably the best controllers I have used on any console.
The online gaming isn't all that bad either. There are a lot of whiny 12 year olds, but you can never really get away from them can you?
I would recommend this system if you are looking for a cheap alternative to the Wii (which has 6 games, and lots of waggle).
- Cons: The Lite-on drive that is in my Xbox 360 sounds like a small jet engine when running. It probably gets up to about ~45dB, almost to the point where I can always hear it over in-game sounds.
The headset I found to be pretty much useless. You cannot understand anyone on the other side, it all sounds like something from the movie static - where you are trying to understanding someone who is trapped in a mine or something.
- Other Thoughts: I owned a Wii and roughly two years after owning it since launch I just sold it. There are no good games for that system, and they are always underpowered and look terrible. The 360 on the other hand has some decent looking games with great playability. I clocked hours about 70 hours in on GTA IV, and I plan on getting the episodes as well.
I expected better from Microsoft
- Pros: This console has gone down in price since it was first introduced but so has its competitors. Its colored in nice Satin black, has a 120 gb Hard drive, has plenty of exclusive titles such as Gears of War, and a very friendly user interface. You can also hookup xbox to your media center PCs and view movies, pictures on a big screen TV. See cons for my real impressions of this machine.
- Cons: 1. Loud: I thought M$ fixed this problem because of the overwhelming complains they get about the flaws of the original models. Nope, this machine still sounds like a tornado in a quiet room.
2. Lack of Out of box experience: So I wanted to hook it up with my Logitech z-5500s, and realized that the AV cable which is "suppose" to provide an optical port for the xbox was never supplied (nor was an HDMI cable). Yes, after paying so much for this machine M$ wants you to pay extra $50 for an audio cable that provides surround sound port (which by the way is built in to the PS3), luckily there is a plethora of ee bay sellers selling it for cheaper.
3. When compared to PS3, their online game play costs money, their controller aren't rechargeable (although they have very good vibration feedback), and their hard drive is proprietary- but it seems that no one is bothered by it.
4. This particular model DOES NOT include an HDMI cable which is advertised in some other packages of Elite.
- Other Thoughts: The two games included in this pack are actually together in one case (or maybe one disk), so if you planning on selling them like I was it wont sell for too much. There is no HDMI cable like I said in cons. Also missing is the AV adapter that is suppose to give you an optical port. However you can find this console cheaper than the market price (used or refurbished), and if you bought it between Sep 22 09 to Oct 5 2009, you qualify for a $50 mail in rebate (from Microsoft). I own a PS3 and Xbox 360 and over all I am not a big fan of the 360 but it holds an advantage as most of friends use it for online game play.

Xbox 360
- Pros: It came with two free games
Xbox live is better than I remeber new chipset
- Cons: the games that come with the console aren't very good
have to pay for live no built in wireless
- Other Thoughts: I have previously owned a 360 and sold it. I mainly bought this because all my friends now had one. I still mostly use my pc for gaming but the xbox is still alot of fun.
Poor packaging!
- Pros: 50 dollar gift card.
120gb hd. Non defective.
- Cons: Im shocked on how Newegg shipped my products! I ordered two of these bundles and they were both shipped in the same box with no cushion, air bubbles or padding! I still cannot believe they were damaged during shipment.
- Other Thoughts: I bought an xbox 2 years ago and included an hd cable.
This bundle only came with the av cable.
I bought 2 hdmi cables here for 15 bucks!
They still break...red rings on elite
- Pros: It's the latest X-Box 360 and is very popular console
- Cons: They still have problesm with red rings. Just under one year old our "Elite" got an "elite" 1 ring of red death!
- Other Thoughts: Microsoft fixed it and it might make it back before Christmas. We will be selling this and getting a PS3.
This was our first Elite and second old scgool 360. They all break. The product is junk at all ends!
