5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Console

Pros: Excellent system. Graphics and interface are amazing and innovative. The PS3 features free online service along with game play along with full HD and a blue-ray player. This is definitely a better buy then other systems.

Cons: Price

5 out of 5 eggsVersatile System

Pros: The versatility of this system is outrageous:

1. Blu-Ray Player
2. Multimedia Presentation System
3. PS3 Gaming Capability
4. Desktop Computer (Linux)

What most people tend to overlook is how much this system is capable of outside of its ability to play video games. It can run Linux which is simply to die for. I use it to watch Blu-Ray with our HD Projector and its great for showing high-resolution photos that I take with my arsenal of Canon SLR cameras. It also has all the flash card ports to make that easier as well.

Runs very quiet and it looks cool too. Many people are rating it with other next generation consoles but I am rating it as a piece of hardware that does more than just play video games. For $500, this is a steal.

Cons: Distracts me from being productive with my time sometimes.

Other Thoughts: If you are all about gaming, then I would probably suggest you try all the new systems out today before really buying one. If you are looking at this product with the eyes of a die-hard techie, then this is one hell of a toy for you to lay your hands on if you know a lot about computers and have a decent home setup. This system is expensive for a reason. Why are other systems cheaper than this? Because they aren't even capable of what this can do.

5 out of 5 eggsPS3

Pros: Love it.. Get one if your thinking about it.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: More money than the 3%0 but worth it. Plays all the older PS2 games with no problems.

4 out of 5 eggsPS3 60 gig

Pros: I guess it's Blu Ray capability would be it's biggest Pro, although I'm not that impressed with Blu Ray or HD DVD, Up-converting DVD is nearly as good for far less money. Game selection is getting better all the time. Backward compatibility is a big plus.

Cons: I have this thing sitting on a shelf below my HDTV and I've got to tell you....It's one ugly looking machine. I have mine sitting horizontally and each time I look at it I'm reminded of either a "George Forman Grill" or a waffle Maker. What was Sony thinking when they churned out this thing. Beyond that, this machine gets HOT ! I'm talking the China Syndrome in run-a-way reactor...WOW! The other thing that bugged me was the lack of an HDMI cable for the price. These things are churned out by slave labor in China and yet Sony can't throw in an HDMI cable ???? Come on Sony...throw us a bone once and awhile. The unit is VERY heavy also, not sure if this is due to internal shielding from RFMI shields or what but have a sturdy shelf for it.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for our 9 year old Grandson. He loves it and that makes it worth it to us. I gotta tell you though, this thing is TOO expensive! As with most all electronic equipment, it's churned out in China by slave labor and child labor for next to nothing. One might argue your paying for the technology...that argument will only hold water for so long in my book as this tech has been around for quite awhile now. On the flip side, no one is holding a gun to anyone's head forcing them to buy it. I just wish it was cheaper so MORE people could afford to have their Grandchildren enjoy it...not everyone can afford to justify shelling out $500+ for a gaming system as there are other priorities in day to day life.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is a great next-gen system, it has all the features I could want or need. HDMI, Built In Wi-Fi, Ethernet Port, 60GB Hard Drive, Card Readers, and even a great black shiny finish. Plus, it has a built in Blu-Ray Drive so you can watch Blu-Ray movies on this system for over half the cost of most Brand name players.

Cons: Doesn't play Halo 3.....That's about all the cons.

Other Thoughts: Playstation Home is coming out soon along will KILLZONE 2, GTA IV, and many other awesome games... Personally I think this is a must have system for those into next-gen gaming!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: WOW! Very happy with it! Just with the media format alone I'm impressed! Beautiful look right out of the box.

Cons: Didn't come with HDMI cable, had to buy that seperate.

Other Thoughts: I have been a Playstation fan for many years. All of my games are backwards compatable, I'm happy. Be very vareful ordering the 80G. If you do, just know that the 80G version does not have the hardware to run the old games. Instead, sony decided that it could save on production costs and take out the hardware, and replace it with softare emulation to run the old games. Not the best choice considering that many games have compatibility issues, and also, may not even work! If you do not have any PS2 games or PS1 games this is no big deal. Just know that if you do get the 80G version, that you will be paying $100 more for only one additional game, and +20 gigs of hard drive space. Not a good deal for +100 more. Should be same price or less.

4 out of 5 eggsBest System out, but lacks the software

Pros: This is really the only HD gaming option besides a juiced up PC. The bluetooth functionality will allow this system to grow. In comparison to the 360, the features offered far outweigh the price points. This is also a system that will last a good 10 years due to Sony planning for the future. The ability to upgrade the HD is nice, and the online functionality is just getting off the ground.

Cons: lack of HDMI, but seriously who uses packed in cables? Lack of software

Other Thoughts: This is really the only next gen system. While the 360 has a good amount of eye-candy, it's lack of proper media sets it back. Also when you look at the price you have to pay to upgrade a 360 to PS3 level, you will realize it is much cheaper to go with a PS3. Also the 360 offers a ton of titles, but they are all the same fps rehash. At least the PS3 has some unique games in the works.
This system will take a good three years before it beats the competition, but it will happen

1 out of 5 eggsThe Honest Truth

Pros: One Thing Here I would Like To Point Out Before I Go On With My Review I Am A Sony Fan Boy I was So Hyped About The PS3 That I Would Deliberately Put Down The XBOX 360(I Now After Purchasing The PS3, Own Both The PS3 and Xbox360 And Am Very Happy And Satisfied With The 360)..The Best Thing About The PS3 is that it is a Blue Ray Disc Player...And The Cheapest BD player on the Market..Its BD Playback is Phenominal with the right tv and an hdmi cable (I Own A Sharp Aquos 46inch 1080p lcd)... The Second Best Thing About the PS3 is that Metal Gear Solid 4 at this point is and will be an exclusive PS3 release, this will be one of the if not the greatest games ever released....If This Is All Your looking for then the PS3 is for you...but the Ps3 was supposed to be so much more than what it is

Cons: The PS3 Is Lacking In Many Ways and once again I am a sony fanboy who is very dissapointed with the PS3.This is not a hater review from someone who does not know what they are talking about. The PS3 First Off is supposedly and I Quote "THE TRUE, HI-DEF NEXT GEN GAMING CONSOLE".....Unfortunately this is not true. First off after laying down 5 or 6 hundred dollars on a ps3 it does not even come included with component cables for 1080i or an hdmi cable for 1080p. I feel as if i was ripped off.(xbox360 comes included with component cables for hd at no extra cost) The Game Library is for lack of a better word "TRASH"..AS of today what do we have???...Resistance Fall of Man,Warhawk, and Ninja Gaiden? Thats It. Period. I am a huge Madden Fanatic. Madden Is A Disgrace for the PS3. (I have Both PS3 and 360 versions). Madden Is Choppy, Sluggish, and Non-Responsive.(running at 30fps) The 360 Version Is Smooth, Beautiful to look at, and the gameplay is the best to date.(running at 60fps)

Other Thoughts: Most Of The Great Games That Would Make The Decision For You On Which Console You Purchase are now becoming Multi-Platform. Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Grand Theft Auto, for example are now going to be released on both Ps3 and the Xbox 360. Most People Scream Hurray!!! Online Play is Free!!!! Unlike having o pay for Xbox live...yea its free but it sucks...Its generic, plain and laggy. It seems as if the servers sony uses for its online play are not as well kept or as up to date as the servers used on xbox live. Then you have the Playstation store online it looks as if I couldve programmed the user interface Its not intuitive. once again it seems rushed, primitive, and extremely generic...In All Honesty The Xbox 360 Comes at a great price with Component cable/or hdmi if u purchase an elite. An Excellent game library. online play is the best around. and you are not forced to have an hd movie player, u have the option to purchase the hd dvd drive separatly.

5 out of 5 eggsWell worth it

Pros: WIRELESS Rocks. built in Wireless internet is sweet, unlike some systems($100 add-on-and dont work). Built in Memory card(ps/ps2)creator. can play FFVII, and other ps1 games. Upgrades picture quality. Same control style as ps2. $80~100 worth of bluray dvd's free. No overheat problems(yet) like some systems

Cons: Runs HOT! Huge design! $$$ games are expensive (same as 360)

Other Thoughts: I have all the next gen systems (xbox/360/ps2/cube/wii) this system is nice. Not too many games that are out but the ones they got are nice. Resistance:fall of man awesome game, got Lair, just havent had time to play yet.
When my 360 crashes cuz of the heat, I turn on the ps3 no problems what so ever.

5 out of 5 eggsMultimedia Powerhouse

Pros: Supports from 480i to 1080p depending on your TV and the cable type used.

Has hit titles like Oblivion, F.E.A.R., Resistance: Fall of Man, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, etc.

Can run most PS1 and PS2 games, as well as standard DVD movies or audio CDs. Over a decade's worth of content in other words.

Will play both Blu-Ray movies, and the recent Super Audio CD format.

Built-in web browser. Use a normal USB keyboard for easier typing.

Allows installation of some Linux versions. This will provide a degree of desktop functionality if one knows how to set it up.

Cons: No VGA support. Also lacks rumble in it's standard controller.

May need a monitor with HDCP to view certain items using an HDMI cable.

Other Thoughts: PS3's that ship with 60GB or 80GB HDDs have additional features. Wireless Internet, plus CF/SD/etc memory card readers. An optional adapter is available for transferring saves from PS1 and PS2 cards.

Hard drive is a standard 2.5" Serial ATA model. Upgrade to a bigger one, and it'll work elsewhere such as newer PCs or laptops.

Don't believe negative hype on Internet forums. The PlayStation 3 does far more than just games, and should be used to it's full extent.
