OUYA is about the size of a Rubik's cube, but it plays hard in full-screen HD. It uses an nVIDIA quad-core CPU and outputs via HDMI at up to a stunning 1080p resolution. It powers on instantly.

Need more storage, Just plug in an external hard drive into the USB 2.0 port. Like to hardwire your Internet? That's cool. Jack into OUYA's high-speed ethernet port. WiFi works too. If you want to develop games, just plug your laptop into our micro-USB port - anyone can release an OUYA game. And the hardware opens so you can customize it if that's your bag.

We listen to our supporters, and try to evolve OUYA so it always gets better for them. When you buy OUYA, you become part of our effort to change how console gaming works.

5 out of 5 eggsI love my OUYA!

Pros: Easy to setup, hack, figure out different ways to use it. I use it with XBMC to stream movies, music and photos from my NAS, emulators galore, and the OUYA games are actually pretty good. Vector and Sine Mora are my favorites so far.

So far I have rooted it, installed the Google Play store, run You Tube on it, installed Clockwork Mod bootloader, all kinds of fun things - the best part being it was all done without having to use ADB.

I bought a 128GB memory stick and it works flawlessly with it, storing a huge MAME rom collection, all of the Atari, NES, SNES, C64, N64 and Genesis ROMS and am working on getting a bunch of PS1 roms installed. I played Crash Bandicoot for PS1 just to test and it works great.

Just an awesome little piece of kit that has really kept me busy and interested in seeing what all I can do with it. I highly recommend it to anyone that is interested in a media center, or emulation machine, or android device for TV or gaming system or all of the above.

Cons: If I were to knock it for anything, it would be that the Tegra 3 does show some lag here and there, especially with the N64 emulator. Some general lag here and there but nothing particularly detrimental. The hackability makes it fun in trying to get things working like the Play store, so if you just want an out-of-the-box-and-play experience, you can have it here, but it won't be utilizing the system to it's full potential and you might be let down.

Also, although the touchpad feature on the controller works really well, it could be better, e.g. sensitivity, responsiveness is a little less than perfect but still manageable.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully they continue this and release a Tegra 4 version, and continue to build support for game releases, because the game developers are the key to this system's broad success.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good

Pros: Cant beat the price for this console. People who give this a bad rap do not know anything about the Ouya. It has plenty of on board games free to try. The emulators are awesome. This is a great system for the money.

Cons: None because system awesome. I play with it more then my PS4

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!!!

Pros: Has all the home entertainment needs you could ever need. Its possibilities are endless. I hope the mainstream gives it a try.

Cons: Only wish is that development was moving faster to support web cams and headsets for Skyping and Multiplayer games.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Setup is easy. picture and sound are great. Small size so I can take it with me when I travel. Old school games are easy to emulate. Media streaming is awesome. Its what you make it.

Cons: Nothing major. Games are not as great as major consoles but the fun factor is there.

2 out of 5 eggsouyNO!

Pros: Powers up OK.
Will play local (NAS) HD media with Semper XBMC.

Cons: Bluetooth controller takes a long time to pair-up.
Would not work with my wireless network, had to use ethernet cable.
XBMC could not access internet. No add-ons possible.
Could not access local storage on SD card, but could load from USB drive.

Other Thoughts: Bought 2 of these from a local store with the intention of loading XBMC and add-ons for use as set-top boxes. No joy. Had no interest in gaming aspect. Returned them for refund.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Media Hub

Pros: Using the Ouya primarily as a media hub, running XBMC for playing FLAC and MP3 tunes and pictures/videos from a NAS, as well as watching international TV shows (legally) over the Internet,

This beats the pants off any media PC in terms of small size, low noise, and therefore wife acceptance factor in the living room.

Since it runs XBMC you retain the configurability and expandability of PC based media center applications without a power sucking noise making and space hogging ugly PC. And unlike the majority of purpose-built media streaming devices, which may get one or two firmware updates during their life cycle before quickly becoming obsolete, the Ouya can grow as new XBMC plug-ins become available. And it supports many protocols, not just DLNA or adaptive quality streaming techniques, but real network file retrieval like Samba and Windows shares over both Ethernet and WiFi.

I can't say much about the games since I'm not a gamer; (For me that would be a colossal waste of time.) But the ones I looked at(having owned a Wii for the kids) appeared very good, both in terms of performance and graphics. (Think 'Android games' - of various degrees of quality)

The hardware is top-notch, the UI couldn't be simpler or more intuitive, and the digital output happily feeds the A/V receiver. I have yet to hear a fan come on, so I can say it is absolutely silent, despite the quad core CPU. (I guess owners of all those late model Android phones based on the same CPUs wouldn't be too happy either if fan noise emanated from their pockets ;-)

Cons: None so far. Although it would be nice if you could load all your Android apps from the Google Store.

Other Thoughts: WIFE ACCEPTANCE FACTOR: SMALL, SILENT, YOU CAN HIDE IT!!! (Peripherals are Bluetooth, so no line of sight is required)

5 out of 5 eggsIt only gets better

Pros: small, power efficient. All games have a free component, try before you pay. The XBMC has worked great for playing media. Most games are cheap. NESemu is fun and supports Wii controllers.

Cons: No Netflicks or GooglePlay. Other streaming services available. Not much space once you get into the larger games, but now supports external storage.

Other Thoughts: I was a Kickstarter backer. It has only gotten better with time, and well worth $100. There are work-arounds to install android apps to the device, and OUYA encourages hacking of their device.
