Midland is one of those "old names" in Citizen Band history, with a reputation for tough, reliable gear. And that's who is making this walkie-talkie with all the bells and whistles. With ten weather/hazard channels in addition to the regular 40 CB channels, you can pick up emergency alerts about hazardous conditions (where available.)

You have instant access to five user-selectable channels, plus instant access to channel 9. You can monitor two channels simultaneously, and you can scan your most-used channels. With a vehicle adapter, external antenna and external microphone, you can even mount it in your car like a panel-mount unit.

Hand-held yet mountable, extremely versatile in its monitoring capabilities; how can you resist? Whether emergency comm gear or just for camping, this unit will really come in, er, "handy".

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CB!

Pros: The distance for a portable is good. The size is perfect - I can hang a strap around my neck and put the cb in my shirt pocket while hunting. While the CB is in my shirt pocket I can hear the radio well without having to turn up the radio.

Cons: The rechargeable battery pack had a broken battery contact when I went to put batteries in the unit. Midland sent me another one - no hassle, US based customer service.

Other Thoughts: I have been using CBs for 35 years and this by far is the best portable. Per the customer service rep it takes 6 hours to charge the portable batteries (not included) and the unit has protection against overcharging the batteries.

4 out of 5 eggsVery compact, capable CB

Pros: Small, light, versatile, easy to move between vehicles, easy operation, and can listen to NOAA weather radio stations. The accessories allow for direct 12VDC operation with or without an external antenna, 6AA alkaline, or 8AA rechargeable. The power source modules are quick and easy to swap. The external antenna connection and the 12VDC power input cables both go to the same module.

Cons: Like John W. said, the backlight cannot be set to stay on all of the time, even with the 12VDC module. Cannot use AA batteries and the external antenna option at the same time due to the design of the modular power sources.

Other Thoughts: I drive over 20,000 miles a year, mainly on interstates in different vehicles. This is a nice way to know what is going on up the road. I purchased mine June 2014 and have not had any problems with the CB or its accessories. I am getting up to 5 miles of range in moderately hilly terrain using a good quality, well tuned external antenna.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Radio

Pros: Hand held and Vehicle radio. Gets some good distance, got this little sucker for Christmas along with two firestick 3' antennas and it gets great reception and has good range.

Cons: Included hand held antenna doesn't have much range but does the job.

Other Thoughts: It doesn't say it in the manual at least I didn't see it in their but if you hold the function button down until it beeps it will show the channel frequency and not the channel number just a cool little feature. Also the NOAA weather radio works great. Gonna buy a few more for airsoft once I get some cash.

5 out of 5 eggsExtremely Useful

Pros: Works the way it is supposed to. Solid build, attractive design. i have the kit that includes the power adapter and antenna lead. I have a magnet mounted antenna from RS. works good. Works fine with out additional antenna. I put batteries in it when I bought it and have not had to replace them yet. I have left it on for hours and hours and it keeps going. Very handy on the highway.

Cons: Back light goes out too soon. Would be nice if it could stay on as an option.

Other Thoughts: Fits in cup holders, packs away easily for security and no holes drilled etc in vehicle for mounting.
