5 out of 5 eggsMuch Better than Motorola

Pros: I love the number of channels it has matched with the number of privacy codes! I have no problem finding an unused channel in busy areas. The range is fantastic in real world applications. Water resistance is a nice feature though never tested. The durability is fantastic in comparison to my old Motorola Talkabouts.

Cons: Included Headsets will do in a pinch. They are not comfortable and are near inaudible when using them. If you are going to use something like that you will probably want to go buy a better quality, more comfortable set. The belt clip is a little hard to remove quickly. It ensures a solid hold, but removal for communication back is frustrating at times.

Other Thoughts: I purchased two sets to replace the Motorola Talkabouts I've had for 6 years. We use them for our family camping trips when no cell service is available. From our campsite to the beach is about 1 mile blocked by trees and two large hills. We were able to hear each other with a little static. My old set was inaudible halfway there. On the highway, car to car we were able to get near 4 miles line of sight with no obstructions before a little static was heard. The range on the package is "ideal conditions" which means one on a mountain top transmitting, and the second in a valley receiving with no obstructions between. This set has the best real world range than any other radio I've owned to date!

5 out of 5 eggsLove 'em

Pros: NOAA Weather
Privacy Codes
Vibrate Alert.... pretty much all the features on this thing are a Pro.

Cons: Little expensive

Other Thoughts: The range in the city is pretty low... can barely get a mile in a dense city with tall buildings.

2 out of 5 eggsMajor Battery Flaws

Pros: Compact. Good feature set.

Cons: Major Battery Problems. I have had two of these go bad. I thought it was the radio, but later confirmed it was the rechargeable batteries. I think they get overcharged by the charger which causes the radio to wig out. The problem follows the battery when swapping the batteries.

4 out of 5 eggsOne Stopped Working...

Pros: Well they sure were clean and clear when I had a chance to use them. Distance worked out good. The emergency weather radio features are nice. They come with head pieces as well so you can talk hands free (I think you'd still have to press the transmit button though)

Cons: After one weekend of use, one of the radios went dead. I tried charging it all day then I tried using four AA batteries and it still did not turn on. It was almost DOA.

Other Thoughts: I purchased these BEFORE the $10 mail in rebate AND I got a dead one. I am not that upset, but just disappointed.
