The galaxy is trapped in an endless cycle of extinction. Every 50,000 years, an ancient machine race invades the galaxy. With ruthless efficiency, the machines wipe out all advanced organic civilization. They leave behind only the scattered ruins of technology, destroying all evidence of their own existence; few believe this ancient legend. You, however, know it to be true. The fight to stop this extinction event has become the most important mission in the galaxy.
It is your mission. As Commander Shepard of the SS Normandy, you will take your elite recon squad across a galaxy in turmoil, in a desperate race to stop the return of an enemy without mercy. To stop this enemy, you must act without remorse, without hesitation, and outside the limits of the law. Your only imperative is to preserve the safety of civilized life in the galaxy - at any cost. You must become the tip of the spear of humanity, for you alone know the full extent of what is at stake if you should fail.

Amazing
- Pros: One of the best RPGs I've ever played. I'm only about a quarter of the way through and I am just amazed. The story line is so profound that it really makes you think about it when you're not playing it. It satisfies as both an RPG and a shooter. Destined for a sequel. This is deffinatly a certified award winner.
- Cons: Bugs, frame rate drops, things that could have been worked on. The graphics are so good, that the game sometimes lags because the engine can't keep up. AI is kind of lame at times and there's only one hot key for powers. However, the good outweighs the bad.
- Other Thoughts: Bioware is still the king of RPGs. Here's hoping for another Knights of the Old Republic game.
Frustratingly Amazing!
- Pros: - The visuals are absolutely stunning.
- The storyline is fast paced and enjoyable, even for the those who don't enjoy complex story lines.
- The choice mechanism allows you to interact during cinematic displays, instead of forcing the player to simply watch.
- Six different classes and an array of talent routes and weapons allow the player to customize their experience.
- The replayability value in this game is second to none, assuring the player they will be back for seconds, and maybe even thirds to find out what could have been.
- Appeals to most hardcore RPG gamers, as well as FPS and Action gamers.
- Cons: - The graphics engine employed in Mass Effect outruns the processing power of the standard XBOX 360 about 40% of the time, causing skips,slow texture loads, and inconsistent frame rates.
- Class setup can become extremely imbalanced at times, as you can be blasting through waves of Geth at one moment, then replaying the same mission twenty times the next.
- Money is VERY scarce in this game and buying major upgrades and new weapons is an act that doesn't happen often.
- Controlling your squad can be a hassle, as they die very quickly in boss fights if not micromanaged.
- The learning curve is very steep and you may not get a handle on the controls and flow of battle until your forth or fifth hour of play.
- Why are there so many elevators in the future, and why are they so slow?
- Other Thoughts: - If you have played any other console RPG that has came out this year, chances are, Mass Effect will top it. With its polished surface, rich storyline, massive replayability, and ultimate customization, you will quickly forget about the few problems the game has. If you own a 360 and need something new to keep you occupied, Mass Effect is a must have that will take you on a journey beyond your wildest imaginations. And that's why I give Mass Effect 5 out of 5 eggs.

hmmmmm
- Pros: beautiful graphics, good quests, variety of weapons and skills,
- Cons: it took some time to get used to the control of the game, they could of done better in explaining how things work with the character setup, you can get easily lost in cities, EA buying out Bioware, need to explain more on the "magic" system
- Other Thoughts: not really a con but I really can't tell the difference in HD game play versus normal analog game play and I have a 60" 1080p TV.
Great game
- Pros: Sweet game, story. Everything that you'd expect from a bioware game.
- Cons: Theres a lot of elevators in the game. A LOT. Meaning you'll be sitting around for about 30 seconds not doing anything frequently.
