Sowing grass, digging ponds, planting flowers and growing trees all affect which of the unique piñatas you will see. It's not just about plants, either; there is a whole range of ornaments and structures that could be decisive. Your reward for creating an appealing paradise is to watch the piñatas visit and eventually reside there, which is where the fun really starts.

5 out of 5 eggsExtremely Fun Game

Pros: This is a great game full of whimsical fun. The pinatas are very colorful and each variety has its own unique character and personality. This game is very addictive.

Cons: Minor spoiler alert: there is no real ending to this game that I have found, so if you like closure then you may be slightly disappointed. Some of the gardening chores can get a little repetitive.

Other Thoughts: I passed up on this game when it was new. In fact, I gave my cousin grief for playing it. Now that I have played it (and earned all of the achievements) I consider this to be one of the best games I have ever played. I usually prefer more serious games in other genres like western RPGs, FPS, racing sims, flight sims, etc. Viva Pinata was a greate game to pick up and play for half an hour to just chill out. Definitely approach this game with a good sense of humor.

4 out of 5 eggsWife loves it

Pros: Bought this for my wife because it was such a great price. Easy to understand, easy to play, and can be rather addicting.

Cons: Tends to be repetitive and offers little challenge.

Other Thoughts: A relaxing game for when you don't really want to think.

5 out of 5 eggsReally Fun

Pros: Great, fun game. It looks like a kids title, but deep gameplay lurks under the candy-coated exterior. It can be played by anyone - my 6-year-old is now a level 62 gardener (supposedly 106 levels in all) - so it's simple enough for kids, but there's plenty for adults to love as well. The strategy element of Viva Pinata has teeth and can give any experience level a run for the money.

Building gardens to your meet your own nonsensical proclivities is a hoot. I'm more of a neat-and-tidy, everything-in-its-place kind of gardener, while my son takes more of a practical, put-it-next-to-the-pinata-that-needs-it approach to garden design. They both work, but the whole sandbox style of the thing gives any method freedom to run wild.

Since many of the XBox 360 games are geared toward more "mature" audiences, it's great to have a game on the system that's fun, long-lasting and doesn't contain anything to worry me as a parent.

Cons: - The "romancing" mini-game mazes get tedious after the initial go around. Sadly, you have to go through each maze a minimum of 5 times to get the coveted "Master Romancer" award (and the associated experience points) for each species of pinata. Fortunately, the mazes are a small portion of the overall game.

- You can create multiple gardens to host the variety of pinata fauna and switch between them at will, but it would be nice to have a mode where space in a given garden wasn't limited. Having multiple gardens with varied themes is fun, but it would have been nice to at least have a mode where you could eliminate the space restrictions and have any number of items, buildings or animals without reaching a limit ceiling.

- You can lose hours on Pinata Island. It's apparent simplicity is a trap. You'll find yourself wanting to do "just one more thing" and the next thing you know it's 2:30AM.

Other Thoughts: There's a pseudo-mulitplayer aspect in Viva Pinata whereby two people can control the in-game cursor with two separate controllers. Not great in a truly "multiplayer" sense (it can result in some cursor wrestling matches), but it's fantastic for working past any rough spots in gameplay a kid might have without taking the controller away from them and "taking over" the game.

Also, over XBox Live (Silver or Gold - doesn't matter) you can send and receive packages with other players. If your kid has their own XBox profile and associated Live account, this can be a good way to either help or be helped by them through some of the game's harder parts such as attracting higher-level pinatas to the garden or unexpected cash flow problems.

4 out of 5 eggsGame Play

Pros: A okay game, the only problem is the time it takes to actually build the garden it takes around 30min. to finnally get a large garden playable, also when a pinata get sad and starts crying it is impossible to get it happy again so just sell it. I am probably making it sound worse than it is but its okay good for just relaxing and getting away from all of the Gun fighting.

Cons: I am a Guy and I've played this and its okay... I think the game is to sooth you it may have some bugs but it is a good game. your not decorating pinata's with fancy hats and Bows, your realling managing a small world kind of. Some pinatas look a little funny but the games mostly about solving puzzles trying to get some pinatas to go into garden, Some to get out. I am a guy and it was fun... don't judge me.

Other Thoughts: Managing more than 18 pinatas in a single garden is impossible.

5 out of 5 eggsLots of Fun

Pros: Fun game, beware, it can be very adictive. You will start playing, and you just have to get that one more pinata, and then one more after that. Played a stupid amount of hours on it. The whole family just loves this games

Cons: You really don't know when the game has reached it's max level. Had to research on the web to verify that I had beaten everything.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Game

Pros: Viva Pinata is a very fun game. Essentially you create a garden to attract pinata animals while at the same time try to keep bad guys from coming in and tearing up your garden. I rented this game and liked it so much I decided to buy it. Newegg has an excellent price on game.

Cons: Newegg's website shows the packaging from the original release of the game. However, what I received is the apparently new platinum hits packaging. This doesn't impact the game play, but NewEgg should correct the listing to display the version they are selling.

Other Thoughts: Despite being really deep, the game is very family friendly and children could enjoy it as well.

5 out of 5 eggsAddictive fun

Pros: Surprisingly fun for me. I generally play FPS games all the time, but as mentioned before, is a great change of pace. I bought it to have at least 1 game that my wife would also play.

Cons: She has become a little possessive of the 360...

Other Thoughts: Since my wife wasn't about to take up arms in CoD4 or Halo, I had to start somewhere. This has definitely gotten her hooked on the 360.

4 out of 5 eggsNot really my cup O' tea, BUT

Pros: My wife and kids LOVE this game, which is who I bought it for. easy to pick up and play, really good for casual gamers.

Cons: NOT for the hardcore gamer, unless you're REALLY into sim Garden type games.

Other Thoughts: if you have a significant other you'd like to see playing more games, this could be the game to buy him/her. to get them to pick up the controller. quite fun!

5 out of 5 eggsFun with Pinatas

Pros: My girlfriend loves this game. I really got her mad when I splurged for a 360, but this pacified her. Loves it.

Cons: If you don't log-in to a profile before you start playing, it won't save your game later. My girl found out the hard way after 3 hours of playing.

Other Thoughts: Overall worth the money. 'specially if you have a girlfriend.
