3 out of 5 eggsThere are better ones out there

Pros: Microft made, official.... maybe a con too

Cons: seems a little cheaply made for the price.

Other Thoughts: This cable seems a little cheap and flimsy when I hooked it up. It worked for maybe about a year, of which it was never moved or anything. After abouta year, it stopped working, less i moved the cable around to get the pictur back.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: My bedrom Xbox finally has sound

Puts out optical sound while HDMI is connected to my xbox

Comes with extra HDMI cable

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: for the longest time I couldn't listen to my Xbox games through my surround sound because it only has optical inputs and I have to run my HDMI directly to my tv.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks Great 60% of the time

Pros: Well it lets you hook up the optical audio, which is why I bought this, which is great because my surround sound doesn't have hdmi input to output, so I needed this thing.

Cons: Lets see...it usually switches my speakers, like i have the sounds that should be coming from my front right and left speakers, but is actually coming out of my rear speakers. This requires me to keep unplugging it, turning off my xbox and turning it back on, or doing a hard reset. I thought it was my Sony system, but it isn't. When it does work it is awesome, but this overall is super annoying. I wouldn't even use this thing anymore if the sound quality from my tv speakers wasn't so horrible.

3 out of 5 eggsUseful to a group of people

Pros: Adds analog and optical audio out for those unique situations.

Cons: The Xbox 360 doesn't allow you to send 2 channel over the HDMI and 5.1 over the optical at the same time. It either sends 2 channel over both or 5.1 over both. This is a hassle when you have a TV that doesn't support 5.1 but have a low end audio system that does support it.

Other Thoughts: I ended up going back to using my VGA connector with my TV so that I could have 2 channel to the TV (RCA to 3.5 mini) and 5.1 to my receiver (optical)

1 out of 5 eggs***WARNING*** -- Read before buying

Pros: This works ***IF*** your xbox360 has a native HDMI port.

Cons: Most of the more recently made xbox360's have a native HDMI, but quite a few of the earlier ones do ***NOT*** have an HDMI port.

You would think that this would let you connect from the "AV out" port on a 360 to an HDMI cable. And you would be wrong.

Unless you specifically want to use optical out for your sound, there is NO reason to get this cable, since HDMI carries sound info also. (In other words, you would only want to use optical if your sound system has optical ONLY and NOT HDMI.)

There is really no reason to get this (unless you need optical sound, see above), since you can just buy an HDMI cable for $6 on Newegg.

Other Thoughts: Newegg will ***NOT*** let you return this item, so check your 360 FIRST!!!

There is really no way to realize, from looking at the pictures, that this is just a single HDMI cable plus an AV port which has an optical sound out.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: did exactly what I needed. gives you the ability to use your HDMI port for tv video/audio while sending a separate rca audio to my wireless headphone adapter. It's a must-have for turtle beach wireless headphone users who use the Xbox360 hdmi port

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsCha-Ching!

Pros: -Television AND surround sound output.
-HDMI picture quality looks crisp.
-Great for watching movies or playing games with surround sound.
-Love listening to streaming music this way.

Cons: -Proprietary M$0ft lameness that you HAVE to buy if you want to use HDMI + fiber optic audio connection.
-Costs $50.
-Didn't work upon first installation.
-There's a ghetto-fabulous way to jimmy rig your original HDMI and the casing of component connection, that works just like this product (but involves more work and patience than I'm willing to invest)

Other Thoughts: NECESSARY FOR HDMI OUTPUT & DIGITAL SURROUND
2 important details
1) Installed it & didn't work at first. Tried both HDMI & audio adapter, and the whole system was inoperable. Just the HDMI cable or the old component connection works fine. I tried the combo of the HDMI + audio adapter again, & got 3 red rings; so I looked up support. It stated the power supply was connected loosely & had to be reconnected tighter so that the system could operate properly. I shrugged, disconnected the power completely, reconnected it tightly, turned it on, & it worked! Guess it needed more juice to run HDMI and surround.
2) Found a website that claims you can bust open the casing on the original component adapter; visually I could tell my HDMI cable was too thick to fit with it anyways. The effort without guarantee if it works or not wasn't worth it to me, plus I don't feel like damaging my goods. I was happy newegg had it on sale for $30 (better than $50 everywhere else) so that was cool for me.

5 out of 5 eggsServes Its Purpose Well

Pros: - Solid Build Quality
- Works As Described

Cons: - Haven't Found Any

Other Thoughts: Previously, I was using component cables to route the 360 to my Panasonic 50" plasma and an toslink connector to route the audio to my Harman Kardon receiver. By hooking up this adapter, I can now route HDMI to my plasma set and my 5.1 DD to my HK, which wasn't possible before. I was immediately able to set the 360 for 1080P output and the info screen on the plasma confirms that it's receiving a 1080P signal. 1080i is the highest setting available through component cables. As a side benefit, I like to have my plasma's volume set between 12 and 15 in addition to the HK's 5.1 output, because it enhances dialog in a lot of games and a number of developers are pushing it through the FL and FR speakers, rather than center channel. By upping the volume on the plasma, it enhances the intended effect.
