In this long-awaited exclusive Xbox 360 title, fill the shoes of one Alan Wake, a man who makes his living from the terror of others as a best-selling suspense novelist. Trapped in the deceptively peaceful Washington town of Bright Falls, where he came to escape the trauma of losing his fiancée, Alan must piece together a mystery to prevent himself from being trapped inside a nightmarish world forever.

An intense psychological thriller from Remedy, the creators of Max Payne, Alan Wake raises the bar for future games, creating a true cinematic experience. Explore an expansive world filled with missions, unique puzzles, intense combat, and horrifying enemies. Dig into a twisting and multi-layered story filled with suspense, engaging characters, and shocking revelations.

  • newegg Intense psychological thriller Alan Wake delivers a deeply psychological and finely crafted plot that raises the bar for storytelling in video games. The riveting story of Alan Wake is propelled by a movie-like atmosphere, compelling situations, memorable characters, and real-time pacing. Remedy has a record of creating and developing games with unique cinematic presentation and exceptionally high production values.
  • newegg Light as a combat element As Wake journeys deeper into the mystery of Bright Falls, the shadows close in around him. When darkness descends, light becomes his only ally as he fights his way to daybreak. This poses a severe problem for Alan Wake since his enemies seemingly gain strength from the shadows, and before long, light itself becomes his greatest ally. Players must skillfully combine their use of light with more conventional weapons to stand a chance.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat to see this game finally released!

Pros: Very well done cinematic story, great atmosphere, controls are smooth, etc. I was really pleased with the graphics engine also.

Cons: Voice work can be a little odd at times. The characters can be dull in voice, some dialouge is horrid too.

Other Thoughts: I can't recall how long I was anticipating the release for this game! It's so wonderful to finally have it released!

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic game!

Pros: I cannot say that I am a horror fan. I never cared for horror films and I cannot say I had the patience for Resident Evil style games. However, I am a fan of anything that keeps me captivated, engrossed and thinking about the source material hours after putting it down.

And that is what Alan Wake is all about. Yes it’ll keep you on edge and in anticipation of the next “scare”, but its most certainly not about cheap thrills. The meat of the game is the truly fantastic story. The writing is superb. This feels like a mix between a tv show (Twin Peaks) and a good Stephen King novel.

The game has action, but this is no G-d of War, and if you need intense round-the-minute-action to keep you enthralled, this game is definitely not for you. For those that can appreciate a great mystery/suspense storyline, this is great. The pacing of the game is proper – not too slow, nor do you (or can you) rush through it, it is a fantastic ride.
(con't in other thoughts)

Cons: graphics are a little behind the curve

Other Thoughts: The camera was annoying at first, but like with every new game you play, you get used to it quick. I have no qualms with the controls at all. The graphics do look a bit aged, but that’s probably cause the game was set to come out years ago. However the wait resulted in a polished piece of great entertainment.

I bought the LE and I have to say it is one of the nicer LE’s I have ever seen. Reminds me of the Lunar games for PSX: awesome box, hardbound books, soundtrack etc. This definitely makes you feel like you got $20 worth of extras just in the attention that was given to putting this quality set together.

Bottom line: this game is a masterpiece of interactive storytelling. If you are mature enough to enjoy reading a mystery novel, you will love this game.
