2 out of 5 eggsGreat sound for the short time it works

Pros: The sound was wonderful--the highs popped, and action seemed to be coming from all around!

Cons: I don't recall how long the headset worked, but it was three months at the max, and we're very moderate users. That shouldn't happen with such pricey headphones.

Other Thoughts: Repeated attempts to contact company met with no response, and I eventually gave up. Give up on this brand before you spend your money!

1 out of 5 eggsWorst purchase ever

Pros: They fit over the ear comfortably.

Cons: Cheap construction: the first week I had them they started to fall apart.

Any bass at all will make the headset rattle.

The channels never worked correctly from day one. Sound was terrible.

After a month they started to come apart. After 6 months I was using duct tape to hold them together.

Other Thoughts: In twenty+ years of buying computer equipment for myself, as well as friends and family, this has been the worst purchase I have ever made. The only moment of happiness they have given me was the day the box came and my anticipation of what this could have been..

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 5.1 Surround
Decent sound when it works

Cons: Shoddy construction (mic, dangling ear pieces, burning electronics)
Too easy to press volume control buttons
Wires everywhere

Other Thoughts: As mentioned elsewhere the tech support was horrible. After months I finally got someone on the line and the only reason they replaced my headset with:
1. A non functioning right ear piece.
2. A broken mic.
3. No bass

Was that the volume control piece started smoking and the whole thing went. They were curious as to why. Does anyone else feel like a product tester instead of a consumer? Avoid this company.

4 out of 5 eggsDefinitely worth your money.

Pros: -Beautiful sound. The in-line sound adjuster lights up and looks cool. When I first got them I kept changing the sub, center, rear, and front volumes independently. Needless to say I kept doing bad so I just set them all on Med-High volume and left them alone to get used to it. You can pinpoint sounds with high accuracy when you get used to them. It took me a month to get used to the sound as it is a lot different than my previous Turtle Beach X3's.

-The cables going from the box to the headset and then to the mic are very thick and consequently do not break easily. This is great because on my old headset (not Trittons) I constantly had to replace the puck that inserts to the controller as it was a very flimsy wire. I use my headset a lot while playing CoD on Xbox and have only ever had to replace a cable once in 2 years, my warranty covered it though and it came in a few days.

Cons: -The puck that inserts to the Xbox controller is big and very sensitive to bumps which makes it create static and stop working. Quick fix is to pull it out and plug back in mid game and that solves the problem.

-I believe it is due to insufficient wire shielding inside the headset. Then again could be I just don't take care of them well enough (I like to think I take care of my stuff very well). If someone in chat speaks at a higher pitch or above a certain volume, a faint echo appears. Children below the age of 14 and all women seem to make this happen alot. Also, those ragers.

-Every couple of months or weeks I will shake my head a little to hard, or drop it on my bed a little hard and my mic gains a really bad echo. After a day or so it disappears and everyone I know un-mutes me.

2 out of 5 eggsTry harder Tritton :/

Pros: Fairly Decent, True 5.1 surround for the price you pay for them. Good, sturdy connectors. Cool, light up, "T" on each ear cup. Good quality, detachable Mic is really handy.

Cons: Where to begin... The sound is only decent when you have it connected to the fiber optics. And even then, not that great. Have to turn up the Bass a lot to get good Bass. It actually cuts out the really low frequency Bass so it sounds really cheap when you hit the low frequencies. Buttons on the hand held volume control are way to easy to hit. I do it ALL the time. Almost all of the weight is sitting on the very top of your head so it's not fun wearing it for hours on end (Thank you Eve Online :D ). You get a lot of ambient noise from the room which means you have to turn up the volume pretty loud. Also, just the other week, the detachable Mic decided to die on me. Not sure why, just, died.

Other Thoughts: I've had this headset for over a year now. Mostly using my surround system when my room mate isn't arround. I really wanted to like this product because of the brand name and the initial reviews that I looked at before buying it. There was just too many things little things that all add up. Sorry Tritton :'(

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset!!!!

Pros: I have bought every (best headset) on the market and the tritton ax pros are by far the best. Although the astro a40's are a good headset, they definitely don't sound any better than the ax pros plus the bass is horrible on them. For a $100 less I would go with the ax pros. Astro' s are wanted by so many gamers b/c they are mlg sponsored not b/c they are the best

Cons: The hard plastic seems to break after awhile but keep in mind I've had mine over a year. Just take care of them

1 out of 5 eggs2 year revew

Pros: Good sound, comfortable fit.

Cons: After two years several things have become broken. First the cover that the headphone extensions slide through, to adjust them to your head, has split along the plastic seam. The wire flex sleeve that connects to hard shell in-line control system (on the headphone side) is not strong enough to support the flexing of the wire. After dissembling the controller over 20 times, the sleeve has become total useless. The wires that connect to the PCB are much to close and this has caused the insulation to fray when the cable sleeve failed as the wires are more free to move. Because of the construction, this is not repairable. The plastic holding clip broke after 1 month at the swivel hinge.

Other Thoughts: Headphones of this price should last at least a decade and should use quality components, like a spring wire sleeve or better yet, place the controls on the headphone where their function is not dependent on the wire. The seam on the plastic connecting the headphones should not be parallel to the shear loading stress (horizontal plane). It should be welded in vertical plane. These headphones retail for $170.00, not $60.00.

1 out of 5 eggsMadCatz / Tritton is a scam

Pros: None. There are better alternatives for the same or less.

Cons: - Breaks within a year
- ZERO support
- MadCatz does not honor warranty
- MadCatz does not answer email / phone / live chat and trouble ticket system has been broken over a year.
- Only way to contact a live person is via Facebook or Twitter and they will ban you if you complain

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this company. My headset broke in the first month and they refused to answer my repair requests until after the warranty expired. Now they just say they can't help me because the warranty is expired. I've emailed all the up to the CEO and board of directors and they don't care. You have to sue them to get your money back!

1 out of 5 eggsWorst customer service ever....

Pros: Comfort

Cons: Pour quality plastic that broke on me after 3 weeks.
I received as a gift from my wife, on my birthday, and after 3 weeks of normal wearing the side plastic that connect left side broke. I try to contact the customer service, send them 2 emails, they didn't even bother to respond back.
I just received an automatic replay from TechSupport@madcatz.com and nothing else.

Other Thoughts: I hope these review will open the eyes to the Mad Catz support team, and to other like me unhappy with their way to do business...
