Features

Features
Portal 2 draws from the award-winning formula of innovative gameplay, story, and music that earned the original Portal over 70 industry accolades and created a cult following. The single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers. Players will explore never-before-seen areas of the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally murderous computer companion who guided them through the original game. The game's two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters. This new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew about portals. Success will require them to not just act cooperatively, but to think cooperatively.

Features

Extensive single player game featuring next generation gameplay and a wildly-engrossing story.

Complete two-person co-operative multiplayer game featuring its own dedicated story, characters, and gameplay.

Advanced use of physics allow for the creation of a whole new range of interesting challenges, producing a much larger but not harder game.

Original music.

A massive sequel to the title named 2007's Game of the Year by over 30 publications worldwide.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent game all around.

Cons: The game is too short, and they need to add a level editor so you can make your own levels and share them online.

3 out of 5 eggsAmazing Game, But Short Entertainment Value

Pros: As usual Valve released a unique and fun game with Portal 2. The difficulty of levels varies, but some levels can be fairly challenging (mostly the ones involving timing, for me at least). The atmosphere of both the single player and co-op were pretty cool to me and of course, if you played the original, the funny and exciting storyline was continued. It is a fun game to play whether on single player or with a fellow robot in co-op.

Cons: I don't really blame Valve for this, but sadly with a game so unique and levels so well thought out the game time normally comes up short. And Portal 2 was no exception. I took care to explore all of the environment in each level and still beat the single player and co-op in a combined 10.5 hours. Personally I find it fun to replay certain levels and see how else they can be solved, but for the most part a "puzzle" game like this has little replay value. After you have beaten the game once you know all the solutions to each level and about 90% of the fun is taken away if you replay the game. I might play it again in a year when my forgetful brain has lost all memory of the solutions. However, in conclusion, while this is an incredible and unique game IMO, the small replay value takes away from the overall rating.

Other Thoughts: I feel like a jerk making comments about such a great game, but to me the ending of the single player was pretty weak compared to the first one. But that is all I will say because I do not want to spoil the storyline.

As a final thought, if a friend of yours has this game just grab a pizza and some beer and play it over at their place. And if you love it then go buy it, but chances are after you beat it you will feel enough satisfaction without needing to obtain your own copy.

5 out of 5 eggsCompletely Awesome!

Pros: Portal 2 is a blast to play! It has new features that the original did not (ie. bouncing goo, speedy goo, light bridges, etc) and you spend time figuring out the game instead of just shooting people. Most FPS are the same and get boring after time... not Portal 2!

Co-Op is awesome. My newlywed wife and I played every night for 3 days straight about 4 hours a night and beat it. It was nice to play a game together without trying to kill each other.

Single player is fun, but not as good as co-op because you think with your partners portals trying to solve the single player.

Cons: Never long enough! Not a fault of Valve, just to entertaining.

They give you new "features" to learn along the way and only 1 puzzle at the end that uses all of them at once and challenges you. That was kind of annoying. (in co-op)

The end of co-op left you feeling cheated out of another puzzle.....

Other Thoughts: When is Portal 3 coming out?

(to portal developers) ... are you still there?

Star Wars fans love the ray shields =)

5 out of 5 eggsExceeds expectations.

Pros: Challenging, comical, and very well made.

Cons: I'd say over half the playability of this game comes from Co-Op. It's not an even spread. You should really find a competent player to do the Co-Op campaign with, or you're getting less than half of what you paid for.

Other Thoughts: I read some reviews saying they beat the game in 1 sitting, or in 5 hours, etc. The game took me 12 hours, over several 2-3 hour sittings. They're either lying or sat there and played it start to finish...

4 out of 5 eggsGreat game, just not long enough...

Pros: It's the Portal gameplay everyone wanted. The hilarity is still there, and it's a very satisfying and fun game to play...

Cons: ...until you beat it. I knocked out the single player in a little over 5 hours. The puzzles just weren't challenging. Most of them were blatantly obvious. The multiplayer test chambers require more thought than any part of the single player adventure. Just a heads up for anyone purchasing this for the split-screen multiplayer: you can't save.

Other Thoughts: It's hard to deduct many eggs when I enjoyed the dialogue and storyline so much. The test chambers are different than the previous portal, but still just not very challenging. Is this a great game that just about anyone can enjoy? Absolutely. Is it worth the price tag? Probably not.
